Great place for quick fresh food. Their sushi is always very good. We had a ramen noodle bowl which could have used a bit more flavour but we added soya sauce and it was good. Clean restaurant and fast service. We will be back again
I love this place. It's casual but the food is delicious. Some of my favourite spring rolls and also the rice bowls are great. The California crunch rolls are some of my favourite sushi too!
I think all the other people are a little to scared to walk up and make an order for them selves. The food is delicious, people are nice.
Best dishs
- crazy roll
- dragon roll
- chicken skewers
Best of its kind. This is going to be my full review to hopefully counter some of these negative reviews I've seen because I don't understand them at all... People who are reviewing this restaurant need to understand where it sits on the spectrum of Japanese food in Edmonton. Teriyaki Corner is a restaurant that exists for people who want a quick fix of quality, hearty Japanese styled food without the entire dine-in, "fancy", dinner-date experience and atmosphere. I would say it is slightly below Kyoto, Kobe and Mikado but not by much when you factor in the price, quality and extensive menu. This place is going for a different style and is changing the way quality Japanese food is delivered (in a faster, simpler manner as opposed to a full dining experience).
I have been going to this place for a number of years now. The stores are designed in a way where the tables/swings/chairs provide a casual seating area for those who want to have their meal in-store because they have the time to. I've noticed many of Teriyaki Corner's customers take their orders to go or quickly eat it in the restaurant as opposed to settling down for a long dinner and I think that's what this place provides very comfortably. Full-service is also limited which makes sense since this is a more casual Japanese restaurant where take-out is very popular and convenient. This is definitely reflected in their prices which are very fair when you consider the quality of the sushi rice, portions, options and taste. Sure, it may not be as cheap as some of their competitors but when you compare item by item to a restaurant like Mikado, the prices are SIGNIFICANTLY lower for a very similar taste minus the presentation. So if you are looking for quality rice bowls, yakisoba noodles, bento boxes, rolls and sushi at a lower price, this place is definitely a good option. I get their mexican rolls (spicy tuna/avocado/mango), nigiri (salmon, spicy salmon), rainbow rolls and rice bowls very often at all the locations and I'm always surprised at the quality and taste. Sure the presentation might not be the greatest I've seen from a restaurant but the wait-time for their food and prices account for that. They could easily make the presentation a bit nicer and tack on an extra couple dollars but I think they are smart to keep it simple and quick due to their casual and quick service. Their menu is extensive for a restaurant of its style when you compare it to places like Tokyo Express and Edo. The quality of their sushi is DEFINITELY better than those places and of course better than TNT (a review below mentioned TNT sushi was better...are you kidding me?). They make their sushi fresh when it is ordered contrary to a review below and how do I know this? Because I see the sushi chefs when I order and they start my order once I pay...
I've tried their bubble tea once and was recommended by the front staff to get the Jasmine Honey Green Tea and I couldn't thank them enough for introducing me to it! It is deliciously refreshing. I talked to the owner once and he was a super friendly guy who explained a lot of their goals and objectives as a restaurant.
Hopefully this review can open the eyes of some of the reviewers and customers of Teriyaki Corner to consider the style they are going for. I love how I can get quality rolls, rice bowls and bento boxes from this place without having to book a reservation and dine-in at a fancier restaurant when I don't have the time. My boyfriend and I are big fans and recognize the commitment these guys have towards providing a casual and quick, yet delicious meal. We love sushi and have been to almost every place in Edmonton and I can safely say Teriyaki Corner is seriously one of the best when you crave Japanese food but don't have the money or time to spend.
I would rate this place...
8/10 - menu options for a place of its style
8/10 - sushi quality (rolls and nigiri are very flavourful and filling)
6/10- presentation (getting better...Japanese plates and some decor)
8/10- service (usually very friendly, attentive and helpful for recommendations!)
9/10- price (very reasonable considering quality, portion, speed, taste)
10/10- for the swings!!! :)
Worth a try. I've been going to Teriyaki Corner since they first opened. Prices were lower then but I don't understand why. The food was great then, rolls were fresh and bowls were flavourful. Now the prices are much more expensive and the quality went down hill. I use to eat there 3 or 4 times a week, now I go once a month just to satisfy my cravings but then get disappointed. Still worth trying though as I still think it is better than Tokyo Express.
Delicious food, but very expensive for "fast food". I don't like that they ask for a tip on the debit machine when the prices are already that high.
Yummy!. Long time customer, never dissatisfied! Love Asian food, wasn't always a fan of Japanese, but there is a lot of variety here for such a small restaurant. Have pretty well had everything on the menu now, from appies to main and bentos to bubtea and desserts. Prices are good for the quality, not what you expect from a corner restaurant in a strip mall. Staff are friendly, hardworking. Sushi is made to order, not a lot of variety, but still it's fresh and tasty! Fav'rit dishes: yakitori, gyoza, panko salmon, sunomono salad, sashimi rice bowls, avocado bub tea, and always finish with tempura mango ice cream! Want some now!
Decent for it's price. Very pretty inside. Great bbt
Good tempura. This is your typical quick food kind of restaurant in concept. The food is yummy, fairly priced and made not fast but faster than a restaurant. If there was a Edo next door I would go there for a rice bowl, though this location does a good job when it comes to their vegetable tempura, the teriyaki beef and rice bowl thing is pretty good too.
Fantastic!. Extremely friendly service, delicious fresh food and I love the swinging benches!
