Hot pork and seafood noodle soup and black bean pork and seafoods noodles, these dishes kicked my ass. Packed with flavours and heat. A tad on the spicy side but tasty. A little pricy but authentic. The place was packed with international representation which speaks volumes for these types of locations.

It's been a while since Rae Mi Hyang has been open, and with the fact that it's around the corner from my house it's been a bit shocking that I finally got to try it on a Sunday afternoon. I had heard mixed things about it - good food, but maybe a bit pricey. My friend and I entered to a relatively empty restaurant when the waitress told us that they were fixing their water and would not be able to serve us for half an hour, and asked if we wanted to stay. This was such a strange thing, but we ended up leaving and coming back about 30 mins later.
We got back 30 minutes later and the restaurant was still pretty empty. We were immediately seated and given time to order. The menu was a bit smaller than I expected, and I ended up ordering the XO Fried Rice since I had heard (and read from other reviews) that it was a good choice. Portion size was pretty big, and damn it smelt so good when it came out. There was a generous amount of meat in it, and the spices just blended so well that I couldn't stop eating it. I really enjoyed it.
Service was pretty good. Refills of drinks here and there, you have to go up to pay as I don't think they give the bill to you when you're seated. After we finished eating they never refilled our tea though. It seems like a really popular place for Koreans in the area though. I also noticed them meticulously cleaning the floors and areas. Yay for cleanliness :D. Price was $18 for a huge plate of rice. All in all, price might be a bit of a turn off for some people but I'll probably stop by from time to time especially with it being so close to my place. Recommended.

My relationship with Rae Mi Hyang is strange... but not as strange as Nomiya :). First I walked in, sat down, looked at the prices, and walked out. (Friend suggested and I obliged)
Second time I tried their fried rice and blew my mind away. The spicy noodle soup was a little too spicy but that's the spice of life right... (still not as spicy as that stupid, stupid bun bo hue from pho anh). The black bean noodles was quite good but bland... must be authentic taste that I cannot discern.
The third time I found the rice to be underwhelming. Weird. Everything tastes better the first time I guess haha. I'd still order that XO crab meat fried rice though. The sweet and spicy chicken was so-so the second visit as well.
Interestingly enough, I had the honor of going to Won Jung Gak (South Location) and I compared the two... the prices were about the same (expensive) except Rae Mi Hyang is a lot newer and cleaner feeling. Going to Won Jung Gak made me feel like I was in one of those Psy's new music videos, drinking Soju with Snoop Dogg.

Seafood noodle soup. Yum yum. Omg. their spicy pan fried seafood noodle soup is awesome. soooooo good. I will come back for sure!!
Rae Mi Hyang is a new restaurant three tenants down from Mama Lee’s Kitchen, also a relatively new Korean (takeout) restaurant. Lillian had mentioned it on Instagram and that’s how I ended up eating a lovely meal with some fellow food bloggers and foodies!
