The Mul-Naengmyeon (ice cold soup buckwheat noodle bowl)here is delicious and the perfect bowl for summer. Fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside - our family really enjoyed our lunch here. Friendly service and a real north side gem. Living downtown, it’s great to not have to cross the river for great Korean food. Will definitely be back!
First time in the restaurant but unexpectedly awesome food. One must try it. And sure we will be back soon.
This is honestly one of my favourite places. The staff is so polite and quick. The food is delicious! I usually get the ssam, particularly the grilled beef ribs and the grilled chicken. The sides come in small portions but the staff always bring more when you ask! Overall, it’s my favourite place for Korean BBQ!
here is authentic korean food and traditional kimch. I had a kimch hot pot with ramen add. 3guys had a full enough dinner. restaurant is 40seating and group table available to
Wow, a Korean restaurant that actually not on the south side! The decor is very homey and cute. Prices are average to what you would expect for a Korean restaurant here (slightly on the higher side compared some other cuisines). They also have a pretty big menu, so lots of choices!
We ordered the pork belly, dolsot bibimbap, japchae, jajjangmyeon, veggie pancake and the soy sauce and sweet fried chicken. Veggie pancake was nice and crispy. All the noodles and the pork belly was pretty good. The fried chicken could have used a little more sauce. I think the bibimbap was probably my least favorite, as it was on the bland side (we added a lot of sauce) and it seemed like we got a lot of lettuce and not that much rice.
Overall, I would go back to this place again, maybe try some other items on their menu. Worth a try if you don't want to go all the way to the south side for some Korean food!
Hansik, literal translation meaning "Korean food," opened up a couple months ago, possibly as northside's first and only Korean restaurant. Taking over the space vacated by a dental clinic, Hansik is located in a strip mall at the corner intersection of 137 ave and 127 street.
I stumbled across the Hansik's Facebook page a couple of weeks ago and thought to myself "..great, ANOTHER Korean restaurant in the South side?", but got super excited when I saw the address. I had to google map it just to confirm it, but it was definitely on the North side! Korean restaurants are popping up like mushrooms in Edmonton lately ( YESSSS), and I'm so glad theres a new addition in the north side finally instead.
It finally happened. A Korean restaurant has finally opened on the Northside. This is a first and I only found out when I was cruising SkipTheDishes so I had to check them out. The menu is rather large and they have pretty much every Korean item under the sun.
Me and my girlfriend got a double order of their Grilled Pork Belly Ssam. And it's a hefty portion just for one person I'd say. It says it only comes with 3pcs but we got 5pcs each which is more then enough pork belly to eat in one sitting. They provide all the condiments of fresh garlic, spicy peppers, pickled Daikon, sweet soy onions and ssamjang. The pork belly was delicious but it comes in huge slices so best cut it up yourself into manageable pieces when you wrap it in lettuce. I got their Bibim-Myeon which is their Spicy Buckwheat Noodles. Very refreshing on a hot day, served cold and you mix it up with the gochujang sauce. Just spicy enough and topped with slices of pork and pickled Daikon & cucumber. Their Gimbap is light and was packed full of veggies & crab.
*second update*
I again ordered on SkipTheDishes and this time I got their Seafood Pancake which wasn't as crispy as I would of liked it. It didn't come with any sauce :( but was still tasty. I got their Japchae and their Grilled Mackerel which was delightful. They present it to you in a way you will get the least amount of bones when you pick off the flesh. And their Pork Bone Stew (Gamjatang) is right up there with other Korean joints. Spicy enough with no need for extra salt, perfect with rice!
I have yet to sit down at Hansik but from SkipTheDishes alone I like this place. I am very pleased that there is finally a Korean restaurant on the Northside.
