This is a great place to go for sit-down hot dogs. They're a steal of a deal at around $10. The hot dogs have fun toppings. They give generous servings of the side salad, and all the vegetables used are very fresh. Think dark, crispy lettuce with shredded carrot and a light, tasty dressing of your choice.
Food is typical pub fare here, so don't get your hopes up
I used to frequent Pub 1905 a lot and it was a great place to end a late night partying as it was fairly tame and service was quick
The pool tables are a bonus since Edmonton does not seem to have a lot of pool table pubs to offer that does not cost an arm and a leg
I liked this place-comfortable, a bit dark, but a good place to gather with friends to watch the sports(I may not love sports but I'll watch them with peeps!)
The service was prompt and courteous, and not pretentious. I had two glasses of house red and the perogy rolls( mashed potatoes stuffed in a fried wonton skin and served with sour cream and chopped chives-yum!)
The menu is mostly typical pub food, so don't be picky-friends had the pizzas which looked tasty.
The place itself is dark but exactly what a pub typically looks like. The staff seem fairly eager to keep tabs on their customers without being overzealous or obnoxious. All in all a pleasant time :)
I was only in here for one beer, but I am surprised sweet Caroline isn't playing 24/7. There is probably a lot of old bodily fluids in the carpet. If you liked 1993, this place is for you. Food could be good, just don't glance in the kitchen. Beer only at this place. But all in all. I like it. Probably your best option within walking distance. Good prices. Classic music. Service is decent.
Good food great service!! Ate and drank for 4 hours servers were wonderful and very relaxed!! Would definitely return
Nothing special, but the food is a nice price for what you get. The atmosphere was very chill and I loved that they had pool tables. The servers were friendly. I only wish they had a physical beer menu. In the end I think you're better off crossing the street and going to red star.
The person saying an easy bake oven makes better food is quite funny because everything that comes out of the kitchen is all made fresh. So that woman probably thinks that Boston pizza is a gift from god. (To those that don't know every thing from bps comes from a pre cooked box that not even a 5 year old can screw up.)
I like it. The whole concept of 1905 is neat, this is the year that Alberta became a province. Pub 1905 is a good spot to chill, grab a bite, and have a cold pint.
In the past the service has been very hit or miss, however recently they have managed to keep a strong front-of-house staff.
All of the sauces and dressings are made in house, and are incredible. The burgers are made from sirloin beef, and not just regular ground beef. Pub 1905 has THE BEST french fries in the city, hands down.
The decor is slightly outdated, but so is their playlist of music. Old school rock, with a little new school and country. But its comfortable and welcoming. During hockey season, this is the place to be downtown. Especially, if you're the type of person who doesn't like to be over crowed, and surrounded by beefed up juice monkeys.
All in all its a good place to be, when you know what you're expecting. Its nothing fancy. But the food is homemade and comforting. The drinks are always cold and well presented. The establishment is very clean and well cared for.
Great atmosphere, the service was friendly and fast, but most importantly the food was fantastic. I love Hot Dogs and it is very difficult to find good hot dogs. I had the “Hot Hot Dog”, hot dog with jalapenos & banana peppers. It was very tasty and satisfied my hot dog craving. Will definitely return.
Great atmosphere, the waitresses were very friendly and helpful.the food was great as well.
