I have always wanted to do a review on this great restaurant and tell people not only is the food is really good but the service is too and the people who work there are great too. I want to thank June Yvonne Carmen Kim Nelson and Jennifer for always treating more than a regular customer but as great friends to me. thank for birthday wishes you gave me tonight and having supper there.
Always amazing food, best I've found in Edmonton. Delivery is always under an hour everytime we order. And going in for the buffet is definitely recommend if your hungry for some Chinese.
We had fun and the cheerful staff are one of the main reasons. Other patrons seemed to be having a good time also. The buffet selections were very good and refilled quickly when low. Only negative thought that comes to mind is the Hot and Sour soup. The recipe needs to be tweaked or replaced with another in my opinion.
Definitely will return.
Venue: Clean and cozy. You can tell its been updated over the years
Staff: friendly and attentive. We went for the buffet. There was lots or staff on, circling tables, filling drinks, filling the smorg and cleaning
Food: Pretty decent for a smorg. Of course its no Lingnan but the food was fresh and we enjoyed it. We will definitely be back. ;)
Ordered ginger beef, beef and mixed greens, pinapple chicken balls, chicken chop suey, and chicken fried rice. It was all really good and fresh! The delivery was free and was super fast (15-20min)!
The best Chinese in Northwest Edmonton that I've found so far.
Chicken Chow Mein was above average. The noodles were firm instead of overcooked, which is rare.
The dry ribs were excellent.
The chicken wings were excellent.
Spring rolls were above average.
And the teryaki chicken was interesting.
Szechuan Castle will be my go to place for Chinese delivery from now on, and I really want to come try the buffet sometime.
I went there for their buffet. Admittedly we were there at the very beginning of the buffet so the food was hot and fresh. I enjoyed most of the selections although that's their weekness.. Limited selection. Avoid the cold salad on the secondary buffet... For Alberta... It's not bad!
I'm guilty, it true your honour. I judged this book by the cover. I needed a quick lunch so I pulled in to the Castle expecting a greasy "combo a" with a coke type chinese food. I was wrong, they had a buffet that exceeded expectations.
Service was great, all the ladies where friendly, smiling and fast. The hostess was happy to answer all my questions about dinner service and take out options.
The room was fully reno'ed for a chinese resto, just enough kitchy without being gaudy. It was bright and well organized. the place was so clean, it was practically shining. Even the wash rooms are totally new.
The buffet was stacked with the western chinese food classics. Hot sour & wanton soups, fried rice, chow meins (wheat, shanghia and broad rice), sweet & sour pork, egg foo yong, etc. Everything was hot and there was plenty of it. The cold bar had salads, fruit and desert. Everything was super fresh and made with good ingredients
A great place for a quick in and out meal or a larger party for co workers or family.
Yummy Chinese, although would have liked to see more Szechuan variety. A bit greasy, but the chicken was actually chicken and not mystery meat like some Chinese restaurants. Over all we liked it and will be back!
Wonderful Lunch. I went for a solo lunch here today and I was very pleased. The inside is very clean, organized and gives a good impression from the start. The washrooms were in better repair and cleaner than a lot of "classy" dining establishments I have been to. I got very prompt service with water immediately when I sat down and my tea within minutes of ordering it.
Even though there was buffet I ordered off the menu because I am vegan and cannot eat many items on the buffet anyways. I inquired about the vegetarian spring rolls and my server was very honest that they wrappers were not made there and she could not be sure there was not egg.
I ended up ordering the szechuan vegetables and tofu with a side of rice. As someone who appreciates spicy food I didn't have my hopes up as most times when an items is supposed to be spicy it is a big let down. Boy was I thrilled when it has an excellent spicy sauce with visible chili flakes that required me to take a sip of water every bite or two to get past the lingering sizzle. The frequent water top offs were very appreciated. The fried tofu had a nice crackly outside and was not mushy or watery. The side of rice I ordered was a generous portion that lasted until the vegetables and tofu were done.
I am very glad I chose to go here for my little solo lunch out from the office today. It far exceeded what I was expecting, the service was wonderful and I will be returning in the future.
Good Take Out. I was looking for a nearby Chinese restaurant and I picked this place because of it's good reviews and the manager's hilarious response to a bad review (Tod S/Yur Foodsuks).
My grandpa used to own a Chinese restaurant, so I don't usually order out, I cook. But I was sick and craving won ton soup, so I decided to give this place a try. I also ordered my childhood favorite, chow mein, along with green onion cakes and spring rolls to get my bill to $30 for free delivery. It was actually less than $29, but we rounded to $30 for the free delivery. Everything was just as I like it and there was enough for two people to eat twice. The only thing I didn't like was the chicken in the chow mein, it was a rubbery.
Best Chinese Buffet we've found. We are newer to Edmonton, and have been looking for a good Chinese buffet and we have finally found it. We didn't know the restaurant was a buffet, we had driven by numerous times but finally found it here on Urbanspoon. The restaurant has a nice, clean, fresh look. The food was great and there was a good variety. Will definitely return.
Food is a buffet only. Lots of choices, all oriental dishes, staff is friendly but were tired at the end of the day so service was very slow and food selection was getting limited. Very tasty but getting up in price. About $50.00 for a couple for full buffet.
Dessert selection not great....
The staff are friendly and helpful. They offered to reheat some of the food, since it was left out for quite some time. They have the basic selection for a Chinese buffet. Good food, fair pricing.
