Came in for brunch on Boxing Day. We were seated right away by a friendly hostess. Our waiter, unfortunately I didn’t catch his name, was super friendly and outgoing.
The food was amazing! Rich, and delicious! We will absolutely be coming back.
Thanks for making one of our rare ‘in person dining’ experiences such a memorable experience!
Came at noon on a Sunday. Quoted a 25-40 minute wait but only actually waited about 10. There are 4 outdoor 2 person tables but they seated the three of us at one per our request.
I got the ahi tuna burger, my friends got the lox poutine and the duck perogies. They both got the potato side.
My ahi burger had a really great texture--creamy guacamole crunchy coleslaw and microgreens, and soft tuna crusted with black pepper. It was definitely missing something in the taste department though, overall very light creamy flavour but I think the coleslaw could have been a bit more acidic to complement the guacamole. I ended up putting a bit of chahoula hot sauce on it which helped. The wafflecut fries that came with it were perfectly crispy though.
My friends both really liked their meals. The both said their foods were really rich, so maybe they should have gotten fruit as sides instead of potatoes. The lox poutine was the perfect portion. The duck perogies also could have had an acidic element to balance the richness of the duckfat.
Service was really good. I felt like they check on us frequently even though it was a full house.
I'd go back to try other items for sure.
I visited OEB Breakfast for brunch with a friend around 11 am on a Saturday. My friend's a local so she knew to reserve a spot in line on Yelp in advance. This turned out to be super key because when we arrived, it was PACKED.
Thanks to my friend's forethought, we got in pretty much as soon as we arrived. The hosts were friendly and smiley as they showed us to our table.
Despite the fact that the restaurant is small, the space felt bright and open. I really liked the breakfast themed decor and the fact that the kitchen is literally in the centre of the restaurant and visible to everyone. It gives the experience a really homey feel.
Our waiter attended to us minutes after we sat down. He mentioned that the breakfast poutines were by far their best sellers and that we could not go wrong with either the "Get Shorty Rib" or "Soul in a Bowl". From the sweet menu, he recommended the "Do Not Even Go There". It was a tough choice for me because I caught a glimpse of the "Banana Cream Pie French Toast" on the table next to us before ordering and it looked like an absolute delight. I ended up going with the "Do Not Even Go There" mostly because there was only one order of the "Get Shorty Rib" left and my friend wanted that. If you wanna try the Get Shorty, I'd suggest coming earlier in the day.
Our food arrived promptly which was impressive considering how busy they were.
I'm glad I got the "Do Not Even Go There". It was delicious but not very filling which is to be expected from a meal that consists of fruits and a crepe, especially for someone with a big stomach such as me.
Our servers were friendly, outgoing, and attentive. On our way out, the hosts bid us a good day with another smile.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I will certainly be returning to OEB. I MUST try that "Get Shorty Rib"
