The Saratoga is an institution in Edmonton and continues to offer homemade meals with full portions. They have real turkey in their clubhouse sandwiches and offer a roast turkey dinner any time of the year. Their breakfasts are fast and tasty and everything is served by friendly servers in a cozy family environment.
It is decent breakfast, for sure. I can’t help but wonder if this place has a lot of popularity because of the cute, homey feel inside and the lightening fast, courteous service though🤔? Service 5/5, decor/atmosphere 5/5, food 3.5/5.
An Institution. The "Tog" has been there since it was the last outpost on the southern edge of the city so long ago. Today, I wish the food was as good as it was then. It seems like just about everything is from the freezer or a can. The staff are great but they are stuck serving an inferior product. I think the cost savings by going to prepared and frozen foods have hurt the food quality badly. On top of that, I don't think the ketchup in the Heinz is actually Heinz.
I love this place for nostalgic reasons. I have had many meals here for many occasions - happy, sad and in between. The food quality will have to improve or freshen up before I return.
Get Better and I will come back!
This could be the oldest restaurant in Edmonton. We haven't eaten here for years (possibly 25 years)so I really didn't know what to expect. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot but the wait was short. Most of our dishes came with a side of soup so I expected a little taste of soup rather than the full bowl that we received. The soup was delicious with a homemade flavor. I ordered a Reuben sandwich which was better than average but not nearly as good as the best I discovered in Nebraska. Everyone enjoyed their meals and nobody left hungry. The Saratoga started around 50 years ago as a truck stop and that heritage shows even though it is now surrounded by the city. I won't wait quite so long before returning next time.
Overly friendly staff. Excellent home style yummy food. Will be going back!
Great little diner- went for dinner. Just celebrated its 55th anniversary, and this quaint little diner serves up simple, honest down to earth fare. Cant comment on brekkie or lunch, as we went for dinner...
Tea, pop, clam chowder soupx2, breaded chicken cutlet with gravy fries and corn, 16oz Montreal steak spiced charboil grilled tbone steak with garlic texas toast corn and mashed potatos gravy, rice pudding and jello for dessert, with tip... Less than $50 for 2 and I brought home 1/2 the steak meal cuz it was too big to finish. Cheapest well made diner meal I've ever had out! And super nice friendly waitress :)
These diners are a dying breed. They also close early in the evenings as most of clientele are seniors that have been heading here probably since they opened 55years ago.
Nice and tasty. We go to this restaurant once a month. Had plenty of breakfasts and lunches. It is simple food that is plenty and tasty. It isn't expensive.
Denver Sandwiches. A friend suggested we stop here for brunch while in Edmonton south. I had a Denver because I wanted eggs. The food was great, inexpensive and the service was fast. Looking around the place looked clean. It feels like a mom and pop diner. Perfect. I will visit this place again.
Fast Awesome Breakfasts. This is a clean restaurant that's not fancy on the inside.
Breakfasts are tough to beat. Good size portions, incredibly fast service and a reasonable price tag.
Lunches are pretty good too.
I've never eaten supper there.
Low prices, simplicity of diner fare, friendly service at thsi family friendly diner makes it a fav with families and seniors.
