The food is pretty average here. It's good enough to eat but doesn't top any charts. They're open late which is pretty cool cause not many other restaurants do that, but in that sense they also get filled with many drunkards and HOOOOOOLIGANS once the bars and clubs close.
I used to tell people not to go since I got diarrhea every time I came. After the shutdown n reopening, I gave them a second chance. The food have a great improvement. The new renovation n staff are very warm-welcoming. I think i will go there for supper every week.
hainam chicken is the best dish here i come here for dinner all the time are the portion size is the best good quality price and for a single guy who doesn't like to cook I come here every other day.
My one and only place to go and eat wonton noodles and egg tarts love their broth. The street in the front of their store has been newly renovated and makes this place even more enjoyable then how it was before. Good Job Garden Bakery for the good food and best prices in the city
I love going to Garden Bakery with my mommy after work. Although it is not the cleanest place it is a place my mommy and I can sit and talk about the day's events. We can drink tea, eat a lot of food at a great price and then bring cake home for daddy and feed it to him.
Best place to eat in Chinatown! Good food, fast service and good ambiance. Excellent and authentic if your looking for great Chinese food!!!
I love the food and service here.every time I go to China Town I have to stop by for food. Even 9am already busy, lunch super busy, especially after 2am is line up.
I always go there for wonton soup, chowmein soyalsauce, fried rice.vermicelli soup n beef brisket
They have just renew not long ago.it is so clean and modern style . It is hard to find a good place like this in China Town. We will come back for sure.
Definately great upgrades on the floor tiles so we dont slip anymore but even if the floor was slippery we would have to go for our hainam chicken on rice or the great wonton noodle soup.
I would say 4 for the bakery and 3 for the resto so that makes it 3.5 on average, right?
Seriously, there's nothing wrong with the restaurant food but it isn't special either. The bakery is far better...... go on weekends for the freshest stuff.
Last time I was here was back in January. Went for dinner on Wednesday June 22, 2016. The food tasted as good as when I was last there. This time I decided to go down to the bakery and buy a few baked goods. Comparing prices to some of the other local chinese bakery, I think Garden Bakery is the most expensive. The portion size of fillings has also gotten less compared to other bakeries as well. Will probably not buy any more of the baked goods in the future but will still go and enjoy the chinese food on the restaurant side.
It's been awhile since I have been back here to eat, but I went here on Jan. 1, 2016. My mom, dad, brother and I got there before the dinner rush. We took about 15 minutes before we ordered our food. We went with the dinner for 4 option. It comes with crabmeat and fishmaw soup and a deep fried sole fish and you get to select 3 more dish from the menu and this also includes steamed rice. All that for price of $63. Pretty decent price and there is lots of food. Probably enough to feed 5. The food was pretty good and huge portions. Friendly staff and good service.
This is another one of my favorite place to go to after a late night with friends. Good food, huge portions, service is a bit slow, but on the plus side the food here is very cheap! They also have amazing pastries and baked goods! I always go grab some pork bun and other stuff too. This is my go to place for asian baked goods!
Food is really good. Favorite is the spicy deep fried pork chop fried rice. It's not really spicy but you can ask for them to make it extra spicy. Quantity is good. Deserts from the bakery are good too. Street parking and in the alley behind the restaurant. Location is sketchy but not had any problems, yet.
One of my favorite Chinese restaurant here in Edmonton. All the food that I tried here are simply delicious. They serve a generous amount of food, unlike other restaurants that are kind of a rip off. Also, did I mention the service was great? They were very friendly and willing to talk about what's in the food.
This place is fantastic.
I have been going here for years.
The baked goods in the bakery are top notch and the restaurant food is amazing
The people are always friendly and nice although up in the restaurant section it can get really busy and hectic.
I absolutely recommend this place for top quality real authentic Chinese food.
My dad's favorite Chinese restaurant. It's also a pretty nice bakery. Love the icing on the cakes. Been going since I was young. The restaurant area has great food but staff isn't very attentive. Sometimes, they forget orders. They're also clumsy and put away dishes super loud. Hurts my ears! 😂
I'm always happy when I come here to eat. The service is so nice, and the food is reasonably priced.
$50 got me :
-2 egg tarts
-Peaches and shrimp (fried breaded shrimp with peaches in mayonnaise sauce)
-Gai Lan with garlic
-Shanghai noodles
- bowl of rice
The food is always consistent, and I'm always happy to visit the bakery downstairs.
Cakes, almond cookies, egg tarts, all sorts of Chinese baked goods. I love coming home with a big box of baked goods.
The food here is delicious! Everything on the menu is worth a try, even if some items do seem a bit "out there". After your meal you can head to the lower level and pick up freshly baked goods for dessert. I would recommend this place for everyone to try!
great value on food
The food seems a bit more like authentic chinese food as opposed to the Canadian style. The bakery on the main level serves wonderfully delicious baked goods. Friendly service. When paying, watch your cheque, as a tip has been added to the bill more than once...and that is with only one or two people eating, not a large group, so it can be easy to double tip.
