Great food and great prices. My eyes almost popped at the portion size. The owner is very friendly and polite. The area made me a bit nervous though.
Delicious vegan food, such reasonable prices compared to other vegan restaurants in Edmonton.
I finally got to try Veggie Garden! I never really knew this existed until Jonny (see his review below) recommended it to me, and I've seen some people post pics of this place on instagram as well.
It's in Chinatown right beside Asian Express Hotpot. Which also surprises me because I've never noticed Veggie Garden there haha!
We tried the hot & sour soup (~$7) and pad thai (~$11). The hot & sour soup was good. It is very spicy and very sour, but it's a good balance of both. The first time I had hot & sour soup was at Padmanadi and I hated it so much that I thought I'd never try hot & sour soup again. But I gave Veggie Garden a try and I'm glad I did. Theirs is so much better!
The pad thai surprised me too. It tasted good, I'd say probably better than Boualouang (and that Thai resto is my #1 fave..). Boualouang's pad thai is a little sweet. Veggie Garden's is a little more sour. Which is good because we usually squeeze a lemon to our pad thai anyways.
Now, Veggie Garden's veggie ham tasted so real you couldn't even tell it's not meat. Both dishes that we ordered had an adequate amount of veggie ham and lots of tofu.
Service was great, the lady was working alone and there were about 4-5 tables to be served? Food came out fast and our server was friendly.
My experience here was so good, and the food tasted amazing that I want to go back already. The place itself is not as nice and definitely needs a little bit of work, but all that really matters is the food right??
And another thing, their pricing is decent. Taste is definitely worth the price and I'm so glad it's not overpriced like Padmanadi..
Veggie Garden might just be one of the most underrated restaurants in Edmonton. Who gets all the love when you think of vegetarian restaurants? Padmanadi’s. Why? Couldn’t tell you the reasoning behind the (over)hype. Some things just puzzle me to no avail. If you need an alternative to take your vegan bros, look no further than Veggie Garden.
The place looks like a little hole in the wall and it`s not located in the best part of town. However the food is fantastic, the restaurant is extremely clean and the owners are super nice. As others have said, the prices here are very reasonable. Also, if you follow a diet that avoids onion and garlic, this is a great choice because they don`t use either in their food. One of my favourite restaurants in the city.
You wont think that you are eating a vegetarian meal. The taste of their food was superb. Price is good for a vegetarian food. A must try restaurant.
***** Five Star, AAA Triple A, Two thumbs up, a very good Chinese restaurant finally. We will definitely be back!! Is this enough letters for 140 characters...
A favourite. This is one of our favourite restaurants. My husband is veg and I am not, but the food here is supper yummy and the selection is vast, and the prices are low enough that we can eat here frequently. The ladies who run the place - and cook and serve - are very kind, always smiling. We highly recommend the salad rolls for first: in so many other restaurants they are bland, with only a few veggies and a lot of noodles, but here the fake pork and shrimp combined with veggies and basil are quite yummy. We have tried most things on the menu, and have enjoyed every dish. The restaurant can be quite warm in the summer as they don't run the A/C very high, and the neighborhood is uncomfortable to walk around in, but we've never had problems and always leave well sated and happy from the excellent veggie food. This place is a must for every vegetarian, and your non-veg friends and family will enjoy it too!
Yummy Cilantro cakes!. The Cilantro Cakes here are unreal - think the "alberta classic" green onion cake, but made with cilantro - so unique and great. I love the smiling happy ladies here - awesome service!
No table vacancies?? Veggie Garden to the rescue!!!. I first found this place over 15 years ago. Different name (I think it was called Oriental veggie house), owned by different folks, the inside was different, and there were freezers with vegan meats to buy. Very unique for the time! Vegan was not a word everyone knew. Padmanadi was still under the yellow awning on 97st and becoming a little too hip for a quick bite. When we found this little gem hidden on 100 ave and 105 st we were in veggie paradise!!! The hot pots were unbelievably delicious!
Fast forward a bit and two sisters took it over. They gave the interior a makeover, the food a facelift, kept the friendly service, and it was good! Usually always a table available with complementary tea! Try everything! Everything is vegan apart from a few egg dishes. Coconut rice is available and some off menu delights like veggie ginger beef!! Don't feel like waiting for a table at other nearby vegan restaurants?? Head over to VEGGIE GARDEN!!!!
We went to the restaurant tonight, the staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. Huge choice of vegan dishes and very reasonable price. Will definately go when next in Edmonton.
Love this place!. The food here is consistently well prepared, very tasty and always satisfies. Great prices. Love the staff. Always look forward to a meal here. Highly recommend.
