My girlfriend and I have gone here a number of times. It is an absolutely amazing place, I would recommend it to anyone. Food quality is excellent, the staff have always been friendly, the service is exceptionally quick, and their prices are fantastic.
Amazing service, very cool retro environment, and mouth wateringly amazing food always made right and very reasonably priced!!! Would highly recommend!
Very good breakfast! Looking forward to going back and trying some other stuff. It’s very busy on weekend mornings! We waited a little while to get in and seated, but the food was worth it. Cool old feel in the restaurant.
If you like diners you'll love this place. It's a diner through and through. We had breakfast and nobody left hungry. Service was quick even though the place was full. If you have a group bigger than four or five you may have to wait a while for a table but otherwise it's a great place for families and students. I found the prices very reasonable. The food is traditional diner fare although the hashbrowns were better than most (thin cut and made from real potatoes). I would recommend Route 99 to anyone who appreciates diner food.
As you may or may not know, it was Pride in Edmonton last weekend, and I headed up with Siddall and some of her colourguard cronies for a little parade action. They beautifully twirled, and I rode in the truck. However between parade queue and lunch, some hangry started to creep in and mama needed a cheeseburger. We tried a couple spots on the main drag of Whyte Avenue but they were full to the brim, so we headed to Route 99 on the advice of our lovely hostess.
A good diner. Above average food, and well priced. Sometimes I come just for a milkshake, because the milkshakes are really the best. The atmosphere is really nice and reminiscent of the 50s style diners.
1950's dinner at the top of the hill on Scona RD. Reasonable prices and generous portions! Food-wise they're pretty on par with Denny's but that's not necessarily a bad thing - Denny does a pretty good breakfast!
Sometimes, all you want is bacon and eggs.Route 99 is a good example of the "greasy spoon" in Edmonton, and hearkens back to the days of quantity over quality, giving quantity a quality of its own. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad restaurant from my experience, but the food is not as good as a lot of other places I have been like Urban Diner or Sugar Bowl. That said, sometimes you are hungry (or hungover) and absolutely need a perfectly good quality (if not spectacular) plate-sized pancake drowning in maple syrup or a plate of bacon, sausage, ham, and eggs. Even better, how about both, plus toast! And make this monster meal less than $15, and you see why as a breakfast place it is often full.
It's a typical "greasy spoon" good food and friendly service. The fries are better than average and appear to be actual potatoes. The coffee was hot and fresh.
Its a diner. nothing really signature about this place beyond that. food was fine. food was cheap. No complaints really. no surprises either. One really cool thing is how early these guys open their doors. For us early birds sometimes its a real pain to find somewhere decent to get our grub on the brights, especially on the weekend. But Route 99 is probably the best Edmonton eatery open before 8 AM so hey, that's alright.
Went here over the weekend, and I was pretty impressed with what was served. Not only does it give off a retro theme, it also feels off a pretty heart warming vibe. The portions were huge, breakfast was amazing here.. out of all the places I've gone to - this place is a decent breakfast place!
Our favourite place to go when we need some classic, greasy comfort food. Route 99 is a perfectly unassuming diner with good services and great prices! We're big fans of the all-day breakfast, milkshakes and poutine. Not the place for pasta or salad - stick to the diner classics and you can't go wrong!
absolutely amazing food, I got the clubhouse sandwich and fries, my hubby got the cheeseburger. Both meals came out within 10 minutes of ordering and they were fresh and hot. The iced tea is great, and the servers are so friendly. Would absolutely come here again and HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Amazing amazing amazing.
Great atmosphere and very friendly service! Good menu selection. Shady outdoor seating during warmer season. Good prices. Smallish parking lot. Free street parking on adjacent side streets.
Little hole in the wall out of the way place with down home cooking and a family friendly atmosphere! You can spend your time looking at all the decor on the walls while you wait for your food. Plenty to look at. We ordered a banana and strawberry shake. We also had the farmers breakfast and a Mushroom Swiss burger combo. The burger was juicy and just the right amount of bun to meat. Dripped all the Condiments everywhere but so worth it for the taste. The farmers breakfast is for the hungry! Three eggs any way you want, a mountain of shredded crispy hashbrowns with Ham and Sausages, a couple pieces of toast and a large Pancake on the side. All the food was amazing. Felt just like mom used to make!
Been visiting here for years. First time back in awhile and it's the same great atmosphere, value, quality and friendly service it's always been. Always leave satisfied. My favorite diner.
Route 99 Diner is such a great place to grab breakfast! The interior gives off old school vibes and menu is extensive! I ordered the Farmer’s Breakfast! It was HUGE. Came with 3 eggs, sausages, bacon, toast and a large pancake! Definitely conquered my hunger after eating it. Coming here again soon, Route 99 is unmatched! Additionally, Donna was a great server!
A very cool diner with lots of vintage memorabilia on the walls. I had a ham and cheese sandwich with fries & coleslaw. Very tasty. My server was also outstanding!
It is that old fashioned diner with really great food. Had a good breakfast and time to chat with friends.
Paid 11 bucks because I got fries and slaw with it. My Reuben would’ve been 9 dollars, didn’t have much meat in it as you can see, no sauerkraut. Though everything else was good; my side salad, and the fries. Good cool atmosphere for diner vibes
