Strangely I've never been to this Edmonton institution until now. We arrived at 11:00 to a line-up but it moved quickly. Service was very friendly although understandably hurried. I ordered the eggs benedict from a huge selection and range of sizes. It was good; the eggs were cooked soft the way I asked. I swapped out the potatoes for toast (and then ate my wife's potatoes) and the bread was definitely above standard. The only weak area was the coffee. They gave us a carafe but it wasn't particularly hot 🔥 or good. If that's my only complaint I would say that they're doing quite well. 5 out of 5 stars.
Breakfast at Haps Hungry House. This restaurant is very busy but they still Found us a table quickly out on the covered patio. Coffee comes in a hurry and your cup is never empty as they bring a thermal pot for you to have at the table. Ordered eggs Benedict and ham and eggs for the table. Waitress warns us that the kitchen is very busy and the wait could be longer thank usual.
Breakfast arrive in under 15 min and piping hot. Ham is a slice of a ham roast fries with a ring of caned pineapple and served with thick roast, hash browns and eggs. Old fashioned ham and eggs for breakfast. Eggs Benedict comes with rich and creamy hollandaise, a very good mix. Eggs are cooked perfectly, and served with hash browns.
Staff are fabulous! Friendly, chatty, helpful and attentive. Menu has lots of choices with affordable prices.
Great classic, great service an old school restaurant.
Best breakfast place. The waitress that helped us had a amazing personality - which makes me want to go back. They have breakfast all day - items on their menu are affordable and super filling ! Definitely would go back
Had the eggs benny with beef patties. It was amazing! My medium eggs were poached medium; which never happens!!!! Great hollandaise sauce! Super yummmmm! Will be back!
Yummm! I'm always on the hunt for good eggs Benny and this one passes the test! The hollandaise actually has flavour - unlike a lot of places. The potatoes on the side are yummy too but could use a touch more flavour. I'm impressed! And I'm quite picky.
We were seated instantly, given water and coffee right away, and our server was super quick to come take our order! It was very fast paced but you weren't pushed to finish your food and go. It was extremely homey and the food was great- the best eggs benny I've had thus far and the hunger buster #1 was... overwhelming! I will definitely go back.
Been Going to Hap's for Almost 10 Years. Hap's used to be a quick drive from my home when I first moved to Edmonton. I've now moved and my family is still going to Hap's almost 10 years later, regardless of the 25 minute drive it takes us to get there now.
I'm not really a big fan of breakfast foods, but Hap's never ceases to amaze me. It is one of the few places where I'm not shy with trying out different things from the menu each time I go. They are so generous with their food and give tons of it. Their home fries are delicious and if I pick a dish that doesn't have them, I either order a side or pick them off whoever's eating with me. If you're not a big fan of breakfast foods either, they have a great selection on their menu but I do suggest you give it a try anyways. The staff is also always so great and accommodating with substitutions or such.
I suggest getting there early on the weekends as I find it gets very packed around noon and there ends up being a wait (but it is so worth it).
Love the old school diner atmosphere. With the growing trends of restaurants that focus more on the ambiance and menu design than the actual service and food, Haps was a refreshing change. I met a friend here for a mid afternoon lunch, I was craving breakfast and had always heard great things. There is lots of parking and signage so you can't miss it, I arrived early and the server brought me a water while I waited. The restaurant was bustling with people coming in and going out, a mish mash of locals, regulars and families. I ordered the eggs benedict AND a side of hollandaise because there's nothing like dipping home fries in a rich creamy sauce and that's exactly what happened. My friend ordered the french toast which smelled as good as they looked and we sat and caught up for a long time without feeling rushed even though we realized they were closing in about 30 minutes. It's a diamond in the rough for breakfast places that's for sure, if you're looking for something different give it a shot!
Solid breakfast place. Service is fast and friendly. Food is above average but not incredible. Hollandaise was homemade which was a pleasant surprise. Atmosphere and decor are both surprisingly nice given the neighborhood.
I first heard about this place in 2006 and for some reason this morning was my first time there after driving by maybe over 1000 times in the last 8 years. Very good. I had a veggie omelette and pancakes on the side. Food was neat and tasted good, huge pancakes, and good service too. I'll be going back for sure, but hopefully not in -29 like this morning.
