All this social distancing is making us crave comfort food. We decided that the menu at M Cafe lent itself to fulfilling some of that craving. While we often look forward to the stereotypical curt service at Hong Kong style cafes (actually some of the friendliest service we have experienced has been at HK cafes), we were glad that they were at least offering take out.Located just a few blocks west of Coquitlam Centre, M Cafe has its take out service elevated to a science! I was totally impressed! We got home and began carefully assembling separately packaged ingredients into dishes. The first that we figured out (and devoured) was a soup combination with sate beef, fish ball and ramen noodles in Laksa. This frankly inspired combination was delicious. Its been a while since we had laksa and this was coconutty and rich!Next up was the considerably less confusing, Lotus Leaf Wrap with sticky rice and assorted Chinese sausage and meats. I love the slightly tobacco flavour that the leaf imparts. Black Pepper Shredded Beef with Pan Fried Noodles was another tasty dish. The black pepper sauce was very good with just a bit of bite. There was lots of beef and even more of the noodles. These were of the crispy sort which I wasn't expecting but they soaked up the sauce and made this into a wonderful thing. Finally, we had one of their lunchtime stone hot pot specials. This was Sliced Lamb Szechuan Spices with Spicy Szechuan Sauce on the side. It came over rice with a fried egg which fared well considering that it was first transported then eased into our serving bowl. More importantly, this was also very tasty. Just a nice hit of spice but not the peppercorn thing that we were sort of hoping for. Somehow, we had three dishes that came with drinks and I had not checked the options properly. Remember to do that if you decide to get take out from here. The menu has a myriad of possibilities.BTW, all this food came to less than $50 and Marie and I were fed for lunch and dinner.

This place serves fresh food, and has fast staff. If you ask them something to be delivered before anything else they’d try. Some says couldn’t bring a coffee inside but be respectful and ask if it’s ok to bring one rather than walk in with one. Sometimes they don’t care and sometimes they do. It’s all about asking permission as this is a restaurant where they serve what you most likely can bring from outside 🙏

Standard Hong Kong cafe menu. The place is a pretty good size with lots of tables and seating. We ordered the Fried rice noodle with egg and beef, deep fried pork chop on rice, and the grill set with steak and pork cutlet. Along with the grill set, we got the lobster bisque and jumbo size drinks with each meal. The lobster bisque was tasty and to our surprise, it came with pieces of crawfish...quite a few of them. Fried rice noodle was also tasty and up to standard. Same with the baked pork chop on rice. We only ordered the small size for $11 and was pleased with the portion size. Last to arrive was the grill set menu. The steak was definitely larger than other hong kong cafes i’ve been to so i’m quite pleased with the portion size. We ordered it with the wild mushroom cream sauce which was well done. Overall, i was satisfied with the food and would come back again to try other items on the menu.

Welcome to my blog where I share my opinions on being an adult and post my reviews of stuff I buy and things I eat. Feb 15 BIRRY EATS: M Cafe - The Best Place for HK Style Breakfast. If you're a follower of mine on Instagram (@BirryRam), you'll recall my stories during weekend mornings where I am eating breakfast at M Cafe. One of my all time favourite meals is the macaroni in soup with ham in combination with two eggs, two pieces of spam, and a French toast sandwich. This type of food represents my childhood and my roots of Hong Kong.

The menu is really confusing because there's way too many dishes and types of cuisines to choose from. I ordered the double boiled soup with hot clay pot braised beef tripe, brisket, daikon and rice combo. It was quite tasty and the soup had chicken feet, peanuts and papaya, similar to how my dad used to make it. The hot clay pot beef was pretty good but needed more time for braising because the daikon was still hard. Overall, it was a decent meal. My husband ordered the seafood linguini and there was a good portion of fresh tasting seafood. It actually tasted better than the seafood linguini from the Old Spaghetti Factory. I ordered a House Special Noodle for take out for my mom and she said it was very tasty but portion was kinda small compared to other places. It came with a hot drink and she got the HK milk tea.

Stopped in for dinner on my way back from a weekend at Cultus Lake. It was a Monday evening and the restaurant was not busy at all. The restaurant is large with a very modern decor. They also had plenty of monitors in view and they had the Olympics on which was nice.

Service was prompt and the waiter came back with the beverages almost right away. Typical of most Hong Kong style restaurants, most items come with a hot beverage. It was well made and consistent with I expect.

Since I was by myself, I just ordered a roast chicken ho fan. I had never heard of this before and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it was excellent! They stir fried the ho fan noodles perfectly and topped it with some veggies in gravy and a roasted chicken chop. The portion was also very generous, though I do believe I could get a similar portion of noodles cheaper in Richmond. If I'm ever in the area, I will come back.

My friend recommended this place for lunch as I was travelling through the area for work. I'm glad he did as I usually wouldn't just walk into a place like this. The price was very reasonable for the portions you get.

It's a very asian styled restaurant but was super busy when I went in there. The menu is very large so I'm glad I knew what I was ordering before going in.

I had the double boiled soup combo with the sweet and sour chicken. The soup was served in a ceramic covered bowl. I'm still not sure if I was eating it correctly, but I managed to keep the mess to minimum. The soup was good - a little different than what I'm used to , there were things in there I had no idea what they were.

The star of the lunch was the sweet and sour chicken. It was a huge serving and there was no way I was going to finish the whole thing on my own, but was happy to take leftovers home with me. The chicken was crispy, flavourful and moist with just the right amount of sauce. I would put it up there with the best sweet and sour dish I've ever tasted.

This HK style cafe offers a lot of varieties. You can eat both western and Chinese food here. I went for lunch and dinner with my family several times. We had good experience every time, so I would highly recommend this restaurant to others (for those who live in Tri-cities) and visitors from Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby. This restaurant does not do a lot of promotions but it is quite successful that there are a lot of customers to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is busy but the waiters and waitresses do not rush you to eat, pay and leave.

The portion of each dish is reasonable (not too small or too big). Prices are average comparing to other HK style cafes out there in Vancouver and Richmond.

I like it personally! :)

This is the reincarnation of Copa Café, as evidenced by the carbon copy menu and the manager, who was from Copa. This is not necessarily a bad thing, in that you know what you are getting if you have been to Copa. We actually enjoyed our dinner here, the lobster bisque is nicely done, and the sizzling plate set menu with choices of steak , fish and pork are tasty and filling. No complaints here.

Favorite breakfast spot. Food comes out very fast. A+B combo is amazing. Best Chicken Steak and Best French Toast hands down. Lunch and dinner portions are also generous with reasonable prices tho there has been increases in pricing. We frequent here regularly for the last 6 years. Must support local family owned joints.

Location has lots of parking. Spacious and clean inside with lots of rooms for diner. There is an option to view the menu AND order via their phone app for dine in and food came in probably less than 15 minutes. Washrooms also very clean too. The host and waiter were polite and regularly refilled our tea. Prices and portions are decent. I will definitely come again with family and friends!

Western design and most comfortable HK-styled cafe to spend our breakfast here. Ordered combo breakfasts which were yummy. HK-styled milk tea tasted original and good too! Servers are all polite and very efficient. Will come back to try other dishes soon😋😋

I like the food there, a great breakfast place. There was just so much food. The online order system is great. You can use it to order your food after you are seated at the restaurant.

Very conveniently located near Coquitlam Centre, lots parking spots. Food had pretty good portion and taste good - also flexible choices for vegetarians. The only thing is the ordering app (English version) is kind of confusing without pictures…
