The food here was very good. Tasty and hot. We all agreed that we’d come back here again!!
My buddy Office Dad told me the owner of Vic’s HK hired David Lo, a chef from Vancouver. According to Office Dad, it’s hard to convince a chef to move from Vancouver to Calgary. There isn’t much of an Asian community in Calgary compared to Vancouver and the weather is too cold for many Asian expats. For this post I’m going to play Paper Planes by M.I.A. because this song came out about the time I moved to Calgary and I’m trying to relate to Chef Lo.
This is probably the best service I get from a Chinese restaurant! The servers are very nice and efficient. I have yet to encounter a rude server that I would usually at other Chinese restaurants. They have an extensive menu with huge portions for a decent price! They also have good BBQ, which is their specialty. I love getting their BBQ pork and BBQ duck that they sometimes run out of come evening.
The BBQ pork here is probably the best in town. Succulent, flavorful and tender. If you have $10 to spend on a lunch this is the place to be. Their takeout combo has extremely generous portions.
Every time I go there, I order the BBQ Duck Noodle Soup and HK Milk Tea/Coffee. Their food never fails to disappoint, reminds me of the Chinatown in Victoria that I grew up in. Service is quick and prompt, none of that "coming-by-your-table-while-mouth-is-full" and I like it that way. Lunch time is super busy but you'll find a table quickly. If you like food at a reasonable price, great portions, and bbq meat then this is the place to go!
Good food at an affordable price!! It can get really busy so if you are planning to have lunch or dinner, make sure to get there earlier. The staff is very friendly and the environment of the place is good for groups of 2-6 people. Their duck and BBQ pork is amazing!! A definitely must try out food!!!
Come up the stairs, and you can either sit in, or just walk to the left to the BBQ station to get your BBQ rice box take out order. Small restaurant, decent service with a relatively fast turnover. Breakfast is good value, if you can wait till they open at 10 am. Whatever you're craving, get a hot HK Style Milk Tea with it and put a teaspoon or two of sugar to get the authentic HK cafe experience.
Great wonton soup. I love the idea of a Hong Kong cafe. Probably the most interesting fusion that I have ever seen and I cant believe it took me this long to try it. Lots of items I will return to try. The wonton with extra noodle was amazing for a lighter lunch.
We just had lunch here. The food and service was the best I've had in Chinatown. We'll be back.
Overall experienced you'll get what you pay for the price. Nothing fancy, but the services was good despite how full packed the restaurant with customer, they served the food fast and the staff attended to ur needs fast, and the food tasted good. Not salty nor too spicy.

Great friendly service (chinese standard) and a good extensive menu for your typical "fast food" like hk food. Brekafast here goes for 6.25-7.50 including a hot drink. Meals are approx $11-14 and comes with soup and hot drink. The HK style coffee is decent here and prob best within yyc at least. Would not describe it as most amazing hk style food but it hits the spot and especially with the fact yyc doesnt have much asian food options esp in chinatown.
Vic's is our go-to eatery for casual Chinese food. The service is prompt, the food is fresh, well prepared and always delicious. Their dinner special comes with soup, entree, a hot or cold drink, and a dessert (tapioca). The restaurant/cafe is on the second floor, overlooking Centre Street. Nothing fancy, just delicious Chinese "fast" food.
HK style food.. always comforting to eat here with friends for lunch. Always ordered their 2 type of meat with rice.. Homemade BBQ pork is full of flavor and goodness.
My favorite spot in town for BBQ pork, little tip be there right at 11am for an early lunch they usually bring the pork out from the kitchen at 11am and its great really enjoy this place for a weekend lunch. To be honest i haven't tried most things on the menu, can't help but order the bbq pork.
Really friendly service, good price and incredible food. The bbq was a must get and the portions where huge. Will definitely be coming back.
Worth a trip out to Chinatown. I got the BBQ combination, and it came with soup and a drink. It felt like I was eating in Hong Kong. Food was delicious and full of flavour. They also offered a breakfast special from 10-11 am. If you enjoy my reviews, please check out my YouTube food channel!
Food came fast. Food was good. Although the "crispy" roast pork wasn't crispy at all.
