It has been awhile since I last update on our Food Crawl that happened back in January. But here I am, back on track! Candy Tree Dessert was our first dessert stop, after all those savory dishes from Hoi An Cafe, CHAU Veggie Express, and Sushi by Yuji. It is located in South Burnaby, and it specializes in Asian-style desserts, such as waffles, shaved ice, and sweet soup (糖水), etc. And we were here to try out its Durian Waffle Tower.
• located along Kingsway (Patterson area north side)
• pay parking along the street or free parking for patrons
• small, cozy place good for small groups 2-4 people
• quick, good service
• food is just ok, its doesn’t have the wow factor
• I had the Mango waffle: mango syrup on the waffle topped with whipped cream then mangoes & mango sauce plus ice cream. Its good for sharing for late night snack $10.45 taxes included
• service tea is included
• overall not bad, will probably not go back anytime soon
We came here around 10pm. There were many customers at late night! Unbelievable!
There were many options on desserts. There were snow ice, hot and cold sweet dressers, waffles and drinks.
We ordered a mango snow ice to share. We could add three toppings to the snow ice. We chose black rice, handmade sweet potato mini balls, and fresh mango. It tasted delicious.
We might come back to try other desserts. There is street parking. It is also close Patterson Skytrain station. Although it is located in the middle of nowhere on Kingsway in Burnaby, it is convenient to come here for desserts, bubble tea and others.
If the restaurant is full, customers may be waiting in line even it is at late night. That's crazy!
