Riverway Clubhouse is inconspicuously tucked away behind SW Marine Drive, almost by the Fraser River. They are owned by the City of Burnaby just like their sister restaurant, Burnaby Mountain Clubhouse. We have been to Burnaby Mountain Clubhouse many times but my mom wanted to try Riverway Clubhouse this time, so off we went!
Finally got a chance to try the $25 3-course menu at Riverway Restaurant with M!
Loving this new menu, I started with a delicious creamy tomato soup with garlic bread--it was a very generous portion of soup. I was full from my appy! M got the Mandarin salad and it disappeared so quickly, I figured she enjoyed it a lot.
We both got the lobster and steak for our mains. Presentation was picture-worthy, lobster was a good size and fresh. Steak was cooked perfectly and so tender. The surprising part was the delicious potatoes. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy with umami! We're guessing it might've been lobster stock mixed in because boy were these potatoes amazing!
I couldn't finish my main, because I needed to save room for dessert! Dessert varies from evening to evening, tonight was waffle with ice cream and strawberry compote. The waffle was crispy outside and moist inside. It paired nicely with the cold ice cream. Halfway through I felt the compote was actually getting too sweet.
Service was attentive and friendly, I loved the atmosphere and view too! The sunset along with good company made my evening even better. 😊 Would definitely come back to try the other options!
• this place is perfect 5/5!!!
• hidden gem in South of Burnaby (Byrne & Marine drive)
• a great place to have private functions, parties, weddings for sure
• the food is the best everything and anything!
• their breads are freshly made
• garden & ceasar salad are not bad
• Saffron rice: nice & fragrant
• Garlic mashed potatoes: one of the best I ever had! It is comparable to the Keg. Good amount of garlic, fluffy & just delicious
• Roasted veggies: perfectly seasoned bunch of carrots, broccoli & cauliflower
• Vegetarian lasagne: gooey cheese, al dente pasta, just so good!
• Chicken in cream sauce: drools!
• Sockeye salmon in Ponzu sauce: amazing! nicely seasoned with juliened red onions & peppers
• I didn’t take any photos, I should’ve!!!
Back in the very early days of Dine Out Vancouver, before we became parents and took on a mortgage, it wasn’t out of the ordinary to make five or six (or more) reservations over the course of the two-week festival. These days, we’ve become much more selective. After trying some seal tataki and elk medallions at Edible Canada in Granville Island, we made our way down to Riverway Clubhouse for our second and final stop on this year’s Dine Out Vancouver culinary journey.
Hello! It’s that time again, the time where Burnaby Riverway Clubhouse offers their $25 menu! Of course mother deer did not hesitate to take them up on the deal and went by with her friends the other night leaving the rest of us at home to fend for ourselves. They decided to start with a soup with toast and the coconut shrimp salad for their appetizers.
Post DineOut Vancouver, Riverway Clubhouse is providng a promotion where for $25, you can enjoy a three course meal (appetizer, entree and dessert). After my awesome experience at their sister restaurant for Dineout Vancouver, at just $20, I had to try this one too!. New York Steak – 8 oz. certified Angus Steak with yukon gold garlic mash, hand-picked vegetables and red wine jus. This was cooked to perfection for a medium rare steak, similar to the one I had at Burnaby Clubhouse for DineOut Vancouver.
I recently had my Wedding at Riverway Clubhouse. I was amazed at the excellent customer service I received. They helped me every step of the way, it made things that much easier. The Event Coordinator, Bradley Binkley was one of the nicest, most patient person I have worked with. He gave me great advice and responded promptly to my emails as I had a lot of questions. The staff at the venue were all amazing. I decided to come back for Valentine's Day dinner with my wife today. The service and food are still of top quailty. I would definitely recommend to my family and friends. Riverway Clubhouse is and always will be one of the top venues on my list.
Recently just went here for Dine Out Vancouver 2017. The place is amazing and big! I was surprised they were giving out complimentary snacks in the beginning of the experience which tasted very good. We started off with my bf ordering the Braised Short Rib and I had ordered the Sesame Crusted Albacore Tuna. The short rib was gigantic for an appetizer! It looked like it could of been a complete entree. As for our main course, my bf had the Angus New York Steak (beef again? yes he may sound crazy doing this but we actually shared everything). His steak was cooked perfectly but the only complaint that I had was the vegetables were a bit too oily for my liking. I had the Lobster Bouillabaisse. It was so delicious! Then for dessert, my bf had the Matcha Sensation which consist of a matcha creme brulee and matcha rice krispies and I had the Icy Blue which is vanilla gelato with different kinds of textures and flavours. I love matcha so I was excited to eat half of his dessert but I was a little bit disappointed because both the creme brulee and rice krispies weren't strong in matcha flavour. They were a bit too sweet but it was still very good. My dessert was surprisingly very good! I was in heaven! My bf and I had a good experience and we would  definitely come back to this restaurant again. There will be a 3-course menu for $25 that will be starting after Dine Out ends so we are looking for toward it!
Second time coming here this time on a Monday noon. Actually more people than what I was expecting so we sat at the table close to bar and requested that one of the TVs be changed to a game we wanted to watch. Our server was great with drinks and making sure we were ok even though it got pretty busy..
There is ample selection of food and some really cool drinks to sample all at a reasonable price. Perfect space for a low key Lunch with friends with the added bonus of having an activity to do while you're there!
Was here for Dine Out Vancouver 2016. Â I was pleasantly surprised. Â We shared some of the dishes, so we had a taste of the stuff on the menu. Â We started off the with Wild Mushroom Bisque, very tasty and the Bacon Mac n' Cheese was also very delicious, but a tad rich for my liking. Â Then, they served a palette cleanser, which tasted like a gingery beverage with soda water and a slice was mandarin orange. Â The main courses we had was the Angus New York Steak, was very tasty and the Arctic Char was very good as well, but I was never a seafood fan. Â For dessert, we had the Applewood Crumble, which I quite enjoyed with the ice cream and the Churrolicious was a little dry and tasteless for my liking. Â This place was a little far from everything and but well worth the getting lost. Â Our waiter was absolutely wonderful. Â He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable about the food.
Awesome food, drink specials, and a killer view! I stopped by for lunch on a beautiful summer day and had a great time. Would highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich on baguette with half a side of onion rings and salad! Yum!
It’s been a few months after my wedding and a lot of people have been asking me if I would blog about the wedding since I have a blog. At the time I really had no idea if I would because I was so stressed out trying to make sure I had everything in order. Since I have a bit more free time now, I thought I would share my experience working with Riverway Clubhouse for my wedding ceremony and reception.
I had my wedding here a few month ago and they were very easy to work with. I had my ceremony and reception here.
The price was very affordable since we were on a tight budget. The buffet at the wedding went really well and all the guests raved about the prime rib carvery, the most salmon and moist chicken.Â
It's a beautiful venue and many selfies and instagrams were taken.
Very Nice Atmosphere. Went with a group of colleagues for a farewell lunch.
Very pleased with the atmosphere there and the attentive service offered by the server.
Generally speaking, the food was ok. For mine (I ordered a plate of Seafood Linguine), it was a little bit salty, and the sauce was a bit too thick for me (but this might be my own opinion because I knew that most of the restaurants were like this). The taste of cheese was too much that it covered almost all the taste of seafood.
I will visit again to try something else.
Great quality of food. Although I was a bit put off by the negative reviews on here, since my uncle invited us to their buffet brunch I decided to see what it was all about. First off it's a beautiful venue, and the seating area was open and airy. Brunch is by reservation only, which I think was a great idea as the restaurant is able to control how busy the buffet line and seating will be. It was perfect as there was never a constantly long line.
The food while nothing spectacular, was interesting and there was no particular dish that needed improvement. The star of the brunch was the roast beef! The chef cooks the beef himself and carves it perfectly for everyone. Moist and tender, my dad went back for thirds! Other food options they had that day (I'm not sure if it's the same every week) included fried cauliflower, cannelloni, salmon, butter chicken, chicken thigh, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles, eggs benedict, creamy tomato soup, various salads, and a dessert bar that had tiramisu cake, chocolate mousse cake, and various fruits and dessert bars.
The service was limited but our server would come around every so often to refill waters and clear plates. I didn't find it as horrible as other reviewers have described it but perhaps the quality of service for a regular dinner/lunch service is different from the buffet lunch I had.
I would definitely return in the future!
Delicious meal!. I'm so glad the boyfriend and I finished off Dineout Vancouver 2014 at this place! Our server, Ana I think, was friendly and on time for everything she needed to do from taking our orders to checking on how we're doing at each course. It was simply the best meal we've had these couple weeks and was pleasantly surprised at how both the taste and value exceeded our expectations. I was skeptical about the 28$ menu serving vanilla poached lobster and seasame crusted scallops as appies. I mean, how good can the meal be for only 28$ in Vancouver? Needless to say I was wrong and we cleaned off our plates. The boyfriend came mainly because of the lobster tail and I for the scallops and both were perfectly cooked and satisfying. Though I wished there were more than one scallop in my appie, there were two pieces of pork that came with it that was delicious.
For entrees we chose the prime rib and halibut option and again, really satisfied with presentation and creativity. My halibut came two ways with black bean sauce and also served as a pakora. I initially thought the portions were a bit small, but as I finished I concluded it was the perfect size. As for the prime rib, the shitake mushroom cream sauce was to die for and a really good substitute to normal gravy. Points to the chef! Only complaint were the taste of the deep fried crusted chickpea sticks served on the side. 10 pts for creativity and we ate them all, but the boyfriend and I were neutral about those and would have preferred just regular fries or potatoes. I also noticed a lot of finished plates the servers carried away had these sticks left on them for the garbage.
Dessert was a chocolate buffet option or tiramisu. Ana suggested we get both and share the buffet. It was funny because we both thought the 'buffet' was just a plate of assorted chocolates we would receive mimicking a buffet-like last course when we made the reservations. Turns out it was actually a buffet table in the middle of the dining hall serving an array of yummy chocolate desserts! Tiramisu was good as well.
The dineout experience has definitely won me over and I can't wait to try their regular menu next time. We will certainly be returning for Dineout 2015!
Excellent Burnaby restaurant. Not as expensive as one might think. Great for a special occasion or just a nice evening out. Would not recommend it as a place to take kids and come to think of it, there were none there. ! Overall great food and atmosphere- would recommend to foodies and will go again!
What a bargain. Used a lunch coupon i got in the mail for $9.99 for a any dish. Me and my wife ordered the sirloin burger and the mahi mahi, we were very much impressed with the presentation of the food and it tasted delicious. WORTH EVERY PENNY especially with the $9.99 coupon. The atmosphere is splendid overlooking the water fountain. Will definitely come back for dinner.
I had the trio appetizer... lots of good flavours and very elegant. Cant wait to come back and try another dish.
My visit to the Riverway Clubhouse was quite an exceptional one.
You wouldn't think that a city run golf course and restaurant would offer such great value for your money.
The building it self is very impressive being built of wood and high ceilings with a nice view.
The food was exceptional!!
I had the pear salad, Wow!! Such an awesome plate!
You get caramelized pears with a bit of goat cheese, walnutS & spring mix to go along with it -- yummy mmm :)
I was blown away by their sandwiches - filling and healthy!
Who would have thought to add some dates to a chicken sandwich. The smoked salmon sandwich was so light yet filling
I'd definitely recommend checking out the clubhouse and enjoying a nice dinner or lunch
Riverway Clubhouse is located at 9001 Bill Fox Way just off Byrne Road in Burnaby. It’s a City course so it’s open to the public. I highly doubt that transit comes by this place so you need to have a car to get here but when you do there is lots of parking. For this visit I’m joined by the Town Hall Brands team, a funner bunch to have lunch with I’ve yet to meet.
Hey Guys, Went to Riverway Clubhouse for the second time now and this time we sat inside due to the weather being quite rainy outside. The first time I was here, we were able to enjoy their nice patio with a nice big umbrella at the table. We had Crispy Calamari $11.95 to start. These were done differently than most calamari dishes we've had, but they were delicious! No drinks (mojito) ordered this time! Shocking! I ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich $14.50, which surprisingly is now off their menu online! Normally their burgers are very good, so I wanted to try their pulled pork sandwich to see how that was. The menu description of the sandwich did not mention any coleslaw, so I assumed there wouldn't be, but when the order came, there it was, coleslaw at the bottom of the sandwich! I am NOT a fan of coleslaw and definitely did not want it in the sandwich, but didn't bother mentioning it to the server as I was hoping it wouldn't be in there since they didn't mention it. They did add melt
The Riverway Golf Clubhouse may look overly fancy from the outside. But once you are in, you are welcomed with warmth, lack of pretentiousness and overall good vibe. It was now just after 11:00 am and the scenery from the restaurant warranted a lounging visit. A bottle of local rosé, parents' favourite wine, was ordered and enjoyed as we nibbled on some appetizers. Our server was the best I have encountered in years in Vancouver. Wild candied salmon over what I think were pear chunks and smoked tuna over pickles were okay. The prosciutto was served over a delicious date puree and a sprinkle of goat cheese.
For $28, I thought the combination of lobster tail, prime rib and chocolate buffet was a steal! Other dishes were also pretty well done and of decent portion. This clubhouse restaurant is tucked away in South Burnaby and I do wish that more people are aware of this hidden gem.
