Ki Tea House Cafe

Ki 木Tea House Cafe is located very close to Royal Oak Skytrain Station, and it is next to Camelia Tea and Coffee. It is a pretty cute cafe. If you are an anime lover, you would love this cafe.

We ordered waffles for two to share. They made it fresh when you order. 👍 We expected a little more crispy.

Great place to go and chat with friends.

Finally found my new study spot in Burnaby!

I noticed Ki at their old location near Kingsway and never really paid attention to them until they moved closer to Royal Oak skytrain. The space is much larger now and is student-friendly with many large tables and power plugs for you to use. The place is nice, warm and filled with scents of fresh waffles and tea!

However, the drinks were meh.

I ordered the honey green milk tea with pearls. It was very watery and barely had any tastes of honey or tea. The pearls weren't that satisfying either. I waited half an hour for them to cook because I came in right when they opened, but the pearls were obviously not coated in the brown sugar and just were really hard to chew.

Will come back for sure, but will probably just stick with items from their coffee menu next time!

Funnily enough, this is right next door to Camellia Tea & Coffee. It's smaller, has cheaper cakes, and none of the off-putting posted-clearly admonitions. In fact, their sidewalk sign encourages "study and socialize", and they have extension cords to ensure easy access for laptops, which were plentiful when we dropped in right after checking out Camellia Tea & Coffee.

Ordered a waffle, got more than expected. To set the mood for my story's origins: I first found Ki Tea House on a dark and stormy night. I was overcome with hunger after attending my parents' funeral, which was a bleak affair, especially with the CEO of my father's company staring at me oddly the entire time. Anyway, I wanted a snack and something to warm me up, so I swung into Ki for a pastry and a latte.

I found myself overcome with the magic of the place, shelves filled with books from far off lands and strange ingredients which had intoxicating aromas. A quiet woman worked behind the counter and beckoned me forward. As I slowly approached, I saw a collection of waffles, each one uniquely decorated and shimmering with a strange aura. The woman saw me staring and asked "Would you like to try one?" My tummy answered for me with a growl, and she handed me a waffle unlike any other I have had before. Flavours indescribable filled my senses, as though I were eating a delicacy from a far-off universe. The meal was a euphoric blur.

That night, I awoke startled from a strange dream that I still cannot remember, but it felt important. I had an odd feeling, slightly lightheaded, so I went for a glass of water. I floated out of bed and down to my kitchen and stopped mid-pour when I realized that I had *literally* floated! I wasn't light-headed, I was just light. Light as air, light enough to fly. The shock from my new-found power startled me and caused me to rocket straight up and hit my head rather hard on the ceiling, which left me a nasty bump. It was then that a cosmic visage appeared before me and explained that a magic waffle had imbued me with powers or something, but I wasn't listening because I was distracted from the painful bump on my head.

So all in all, I had a really great waffle but it left me with a mild injury. I give it one thumbs-up out of one.
