Potter’s Garden has gone through quite the renovation since the last time we have visited 2 years ago but, we wondered if their food stayed just as good as a few years back. I wish things started off on a better note but we found a HAIR in our bean sprout side dish! Ewh! Not off to a great start Potter’s Garden! Then when we told them they brought out a new one but like the hair was still in the giant batch that they made in the first place so we didn’t end up eating it. Lil bun was disappointed about the potatoes because they are usually her favorite but they were bland and pale. Not a great start.

Potter’s Garden has been around for a long time. They are one of the first Korean restaurant in Burnaby that are still around. The exterior appearance of this restaurant has always been very subtle. Most people come here due to reference from friends or online reviews. Potter’s Garden is located on Kingsway near Imperial Street in Burnaby.

It has been a long while since we last visited Potter. Potter is always one of the best Korean restaurant in town! They have renovated with better seatings (however, its ventilation is bad after the renovation! It is quite smoky when many tables ordered BBQ).

We ordered some spicy wings, susuage, seafood pancake and hotpot. Highly recommend their wings! It is really yummy!

Our most recent experience was a good one. We ordered from their Cheese selection- cheese with pork belly. My favourite was the Galbitang ( beef rib) soup, oh so flavourful yet beautiful in its simplicity. The ambience is revamped so it's more modern and edgy. If you get a cheese dish make sure they turn down the heat within a couple minutes or your cheese will burn.

Since Korean food is known for spice, and sometimes you may have friends that aren't good for spice, I recommend number 60. The pork bone broth with tofu and veggies. It's absolutely delicious and they don't cheap out with chunks of potatoes to fill you.
The medium size was enough for 3 people. It comes with 2 bowls of rice and side dishes like kimchi, sweet potato, sweet seaweed, and marinated sprouts. Make sure you have a couple shots of Apple soju to start off and man, it's so comforting. Potters does traditional Korean home cooking. Our bill came out to 50 bucks after taxes. If we weren't drinking, the medium size hot pot is 31 bucks before tax. Very very reasonable.

Service does need improvement. It's lacking.
Just make sure you ask for everything you need from the beginning. When you pay your bill, go to the cashier.

I will definitely be back again. I loved my experience.

I've been here a couple of times and I've been happy with my meals both times. This time I went for dinner and tried their beef short rib soup with potato noodles. I really liked this dish. It had a sweeter flavour to it, and the beef was really tender. We also tried the spicy pork and squid. We were able to ask for it to be not as spicy, which was good because I don't like things too spicy. It had a good mix of the squid, pork, and veggies. Overall, food is solid and service is pretty good. They have the buttons that you can press to get servers, which is always helpful when they get really busy. I'd definitely come back to try out more.

I've been here several times and food tends to be consistent quality. I usually order joomuluk BBQ, dumplings, seafood pancake and cold soup noodles. They have extensive menu but haven't really tried other dishes since I come here for BBQ. Personally prefer this place over Chosun bbq also in Burnaby.

My favourite Korean bbq place so far. Usually order one of the set bbq meals...which comes with variety of meats, japchae, soup, pancake, dumplings, rice, lettuce for wrapping (which I like since this is the way I was taught to eat Korean bbq from my Korean friend...disappointed that some places don't give you any lettuce at all) and of course banchan. A lot of food which is always too much for 2 people so get to pack up to take home and eat later :) lately I have been going there to eat other dishes other then Korean bbq. Really enjoy there fried chicken...the sweet & sour one (don't remember the name) was really yummy. Looking forward to going back to try other dishes next time :)

I personally think this is one of the places that serves an above average korean food, as some of the places do fell a little bit flat, but at the same time in terms of the prices, it's indeed quite pricy in comparison to chinese food, looking at around 20+ dollars everytime when i eat here with my friends, however if there are 10 of me sitting in the restaurant (i'm a very big eater) i'm sure it'll be reckless and each person will spend around $30.

So then where to start? I don't have the pictures of the food at the moment all I have is the group picture prior to eating the food, the food is what I've to say is good, the jap chae is flavourful, and the kampungki is juicy and meaty as well. the pork bone soup is also very tender and the spices are just right, definitely is a good option to go there.

overall i would recommend this place for korean food, will definitely come back

Came here with a large group of friends for their BBQ dinner combos and it was MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD. They give pretty big portions here and all of it is quite delicious. I especially enjoyed the cooked beef bulgogi and the steamed dumplings (I LOVE STEAMED DUMPLINGS). Also, they give you the pork bone soup after you're finished grilling and we hardly touched it because we were so full but it was tasty (although a tad salty). Service is as expected since we were in a booth, you pressed a button to get their attention. Overall, the booth became a good thing because we were pretty loud and liked the privacy.

Also had lunch here (bibimbap) and its a pretty good deal for the amount of food and toppings that are given.

Potter's Garden has pretty authentic Korean food. My first and second visits were very satisfying. Their yuke (beef sashimi) was very good and all my friends loved it. However, my last visit wasn't too good. Their cold noodles were almost tasteless and the soup wasn't cold enough - lukewarm at best.

There are a few Korean restaurants up and down this stretch of Kingsway and I think Potter's Garden is one of my favorites of the bunch. It's not outstanding, but the tofu hot pots are solid and you can never go wrong with some dolsot bibimbap action. They even have those cool table-side buttons to ask for your server.

One of the better Korean restaurants in the Kingsway Burnaby area. Came here for an early dinner and the bbq scent immediately lured our party inside. As our group ordered a variety of dishes ranging from terriyakis to seafood pancakes, I would say on an overall basis, the food here is quite tasty. Although the restaurant could be a bit more on the clean side, I'm still okay with the atmosphere of the space as long as the food remains to be above average. As for the price range, Potter's Garden alike a majority of the Korean restaurant places, is priced slightly on the more expensive side. Nonetheless, it's a good place to go if you're roaming the area for some good Korean food.

Reasonable lunches.. Came in pretty early on a Saturday and the restaurant only had a few people in it. The service was pretty quick and the people friendly. Once things go busy, however, the service dropped off since they only had one person covering the space. The saving grace is that there are call buttons at each table, and don't be all that shy about using them.
The food was pretty good, though the bibimbap was a bit on the bland side - the banchan given was what saved it. Still, at eight dollars I can hardly complain.

Great Korean food. Came with a bunch of friends and they were accommodating for our party of ten.

Had some spicy seafood udon noodles which tasted great, made me sweat bullets to boot though there wasn't much seafood.

Plus ordered the Seafood Pancake and it was nice and crispy though the size was a little on the small size.

My new favorite Korean place.. Tried their Ttukbaegi-bulgogi soup and loved it. Not many places have this soup but the slightly sweet taste is very addicting/delicious. Can't wait to have it again. Their lunch special prices are very reasonable at $8-10 and the banchan side dishes are high quality. I'm not crazy about kimchi but I really liked theirs and it seems homemade. (you have to cut it with scissors and it isn't too sour...still has a nice kick) Their beef bulgogi was very tender and flavourful as well. Compared to the pricy yet highly rated Hanwoori, across the street I prefer the variety and prices here better. Waitresses were prompt and friendly. Of course there is Kpop playing on the TV which was great. Overall, the prices are reasonable and the dishes use quality ingredients. You can tell they were made with care. I'd definitely go back and highly recommend it to my friends.

We tried Galbi-jjim(braised beef ribs) and chicken dolsot bibimbap(rice mixed with vegetables in hot stone bowl). I like their foods overall and would like to go back. Galbijjim was tender and the broth was sweet but not too sweet. Only problem I had was that the chicken dolsot bibimbap was very spicy, so we couldn't finish it and had to constantly drink water. Maybe people who enjoys hot and spicy foods would like this..was too intense for me.

Bibim Naengmyeon

Potter’s Garden was one of the first restaurants that we reviewed when we started our food blog. Although we don’t come here often, it’s always been one of our favourite Korean places in the area (we especially enjoy watching the K-pop videos while we dine).

We started out our meal with a big steamer of dumplings with pork filling.

That was quickly followed by chicken bulgogi and banchan.

Then haemul bokum udon or spicy stir-fried udon noodles with seafood and flying fish roe. I really enjoyed the toothsome udon noodles and they tasted so rich with a slightly sweet finish.

I could eat the dumplings and udon noodles here all day long!

Tastes like Grandma's home cooked meal. I really liked Oraeoak (The Previous restaurants name), but since the new owners and management took over I fell in love with this place. I always have a great experience every time I go, and I go as often as a couple times a week.

I normally never go to restaurants more than once every week or so except for Potters Garden because the food tastes so natural, like home cooked meal made by my mom. The owner told me they use no MSG and everything is very traditional and fresh natural flavors and the taste truly proves this. My favorite dish is either the Kamja Tahng (Pork Rib and potato soup) or the Mul Neng meung (Cold buck wheat nooodles in chilled broth with egg, lean beef and a bit of vegies). The Pork meat is so tender it just falls right off the bones and is sooo juicy and full of flavor. The buck wheat noodles is very refreshing especially on a hot day, - I've tried Mul Nengmyuen in various Korean places, and by far this place serves the perfect broth and the perfect noodles every time. You should also try the Whole Bone Kalbi bbq, it's very clean tasting with little fat (which is rare). I've only tried it once but was well worth the money and tastes great.

The atmosphere is a lot nicer than before, now it has more modern lighting fixtures and a big LCD screen playing the latest FOB cast of Kpop performances. The place is well kept and clean.

The service is great, the waitress is very polite, always smiles and greets you with respect.

having to go to work at metrotown in about an hour, my mom and i looked for a quick lunch place and stumbled upon potter's garden . i hadn't tried much korean fare before this so we werent sure what to order but was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and reasonable lunch prices at potter's garden!  complimentary banchan: sweet potatoes, kimchi and bean sprouts: all quite good!  paejon: seafood pancake ($9.95) - the best thing about this was the fact that we could get it in a medium size as opposed to the HUGE one at other korean places. this was pretty good, not too oily or thick with dough but mostly comprised of imitation crabmeat. 3.95/5 pork bulgolgi: panfried spicy pork with mixed vegetables with rice ($12.95) - my mom and i really enjoyed this, it was flavourful and had a lot of pork in it! not too spicy but enough to give the entire dish a lot of flavour.  4.5/5 tofu soup (came with pork bulgolgi) - SO GOOD...perfect amount of spice and lots of tofu bits. you could also

The service was good and friendly and overall I think it was a good meal and it seems to be authentic Korean food but, honestly, I wouldn’t ride all the way out there again. There are a couple of nearby spots that I do want to try before saying that staying in Vancouver and going to Mandangcoul on Denman St. is the best idea. And I have yet to try a Korean place in 3rd St. at North Vancouver that a Korean friend of mine recommended.

I have trouble respecting a Korean restaurant if they can’t manage to produce proper kimchi, and this is what happened here. Next time I’d probably want to try their barbecue option as well, which I avoided this time (not wanting to have that Korean barbecue smell on me all the way home). I’m willing to give Potter’s Garden another try, but…that kimchi desperately needs some work…

Potter’s Garden is one of our “go to” places for Korean food. Partly because it’s close to where we live, partly because the food is good, and partly because we enjoy seeing what’s playing on the large flatscreen tv. Even though we don’t speak Korean, we find the various programs playing (either some form of Korean variety show or trailers for Korean soap operas) to be very entertaining.

Potter’s Garden Korean BBQ (항아리갈비) is located on Kingsway in South Burnaby a few blocks away from Metropolis. This restaurant opened a few years ago and serves up traditional Korean cuisine. They have a happy hour special from 10am to 3pm, a large amount of their items are cheaper. When I arrived, we just missed their specials, so we had to pay regular price. With most Korean meals, they offer a series of Banchan – complementary side dishes. There was kimchi , bean sprouts , seaweed , and potatoes . Each person at the table had their own favorite item. They were all delicious. Bibimbap ($7.95) has steamed rice with vegetables, beef, and egg. You mix it up and you can put in some red pepper paste to add more taste. There is also the stone bowl option, but my mom wanted this version of it. The bowl was huge! You really get your bang for your buck! I’ve been on a roll for Korean restaurants lately. My latest Korean dinner was at  Potter’s Garden Korean BBQ in Burnaby. Although it was a BBQ restaurant, I didn’t order anything BBQ simply because all the BBQ dishes require minimal of 2 orders. I got 3 different dishes instead. The 3 dishes I shared with a friend were: seafood pancake , octopus bibimbap , and rice cake and dumplings soup . Everything came to the table all at once, including the free kimchi and other free appetizers. I was really glad that I was able to order the seafood pancake in a medium size instead of a full one. It was pretty good and wasn’t too greasy like most Korean pancakes are. It had some shrimp, oysters, lots of green onions, but mostly just imitation crab. The rice cake and dumplings soup was the best dish of the night. The milky broth of simmered bones and meat was so good. The rice cakes were perfectly done with a bit of chewiness left, and the dumplings were great as well
