Hello friends! It’s been a year since Ramen Gaoh opened up in Burnaby Heights and they were celebrating their anniversary with 50% off ramen! Luckily Grayson and I went at 2pm because they were packed during lunch and dinner hours! I didn’t know this until I got there but Ramen Gaoh is actually in the same restaurant group as Ramen Butcher and Ramen Danbo!
I tried their ramen because I happened to see that they're having 50% off all ramen promotion this weekend.
I tried the richer version of their miso ramen with pork chashu, the broth taste is not as 'kicking' as I thought it would be but it was still quite good.
The noodle itself is firmer and thicker than the usual ramen noodle, which is to my liking.
The pork chashu slice is okay, still a bit chewy in the middle, which made it hard to bit apart.
I would describe the place and ambience as modern with a touch of traditional japanese vibe. The music was western songs but the entire staffs seem to be authentic japanese and they often yell in japanese to greet japanese (highly spirited and friendly staffs!).
I might come back again if I feel like it. But not a must go for me.
They are a part of the ramen chain that also consists of The Ramen Butcher and Ramen Gojiro. Ramen Gaoh’s menu consists mainly of miso ramen, along with appetizers like gyoza and chicken karaage. The menu is simple and easy to understand. The broth was not for me though. Since I prefer my broth as plain as possible to get the chicken and pork flavour from the stock, the aka miso overpowered the other flavours of the stock. It was a mistake on my part. The chashu was good, if nothing special.
