Came here late (about 30 mins before closing) and was famished after not eating much all day. Ordered my standard of salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and a chicken udon.
Considering they were so close to closing, food came to me lightning fast and they left me to chow down. Salmon was beautiful and pieces were ginormous. Spicy tuna was barely spicy. Loved the topping on the rainbow roll and the plate presentation with the scallop shell. Udon was also delicious. No complaints at all!
Total bill was $37 including tax. Absolutely yummy. Would definitely come back again.
Order Queen's Roll, Unagi Roll and Chicken Karaage. One of the best decisions you'll ever make. The chicken karaage was okay but good portion for the price.
We haven’t been to Kiku for the longest time and the last time we’ve been here was well over 3 years ago! (Previous visits can be read about here and here). It’s not that we had a bad visit the first couple of times or anything but there are literally too many Japanese options in Vancouver that it’s rare for us to frequent one “go-to” spot.
Kiku Sushi (隱藏於小商場裡的日本壽司店)
Beef Udon $8.50 (3.5/5分)
Katsu Don $8.95 ~ 飯量超多,材料也非常充實,只是醬汁略為過甜 (3.5/5分)
Assorted Sashimi (Deluxe 26 pcs) $29.95 ~ 分兩款份量和價錢,小的一款為$19.95,但只有16件魚生 (4/5分)
I learnt something new today I did not know this place was here (open my eyes) met up with a couple of customers for lunch. I ordered the volcano roll which was not spicy but very tasty,i would definitely recommend this place. pricing was good, service was good.
WINTER DYNAMITE ROLL! Really delicious and flavourful! Just one thing I don't like is the service, because most of waitresses don't pay attention for customers and sometimes they are rude. However the owner is always there and he is really friendly!!!
Fresh food, good portion & price. My family and i often order take out from kiku... food is fresh, portion is good, price is decent..
and they deliver too thats always a plus
highly recommend!
Pretty Impressive. I learned about this restaurant from the social shopper promotion.
The location is very hard to find. It is hidden in the London Drugs plaza.
The service was fair. Crystal, one of the waitresses, allowed me to use 2 coupons for 4 people (each for 2 people) which most other restaurants do. We did not make reservation but we were seated pretty fast upon arrival right after 5 pm. The waitresses came around for tea and service pretty often.
The food was impressive. The sashimis were fresh and huge. The sushis were amazingly decorated. Crystal recommended us their winter rolls. They are very special and surprisingly good. They also have a lot of varieties for people who do not like sushi.
The price is fair. A special roll is about $8-9.
Always fantastic sushi. Haven't been here (kiku sushi) for a long time, miss my two most favorite dishes here very much--winter California roll and tuna oil tataki, because I can't have this two dishes at other Japanese restaurant in metro Vancouver. Today, as usual, we oder four dishes:winter California roll , tuna oil tataki, chicken teriyaki and assorted sashimi. No need to mention, my most favorite two dishes are always fantastic, and the chicken teriyaki is better than before because the teriyaki sauce is more delicious than before, I think maybe they had changed their kitchen chef now.the sashimi is very fresh, especially the salmon, that's awesome! No wonder more and more customers come here now, it is much busier than before. I like this restaurant, they make the food with their heart.
Yummy sushi. Recommended by friends, not disappointed me at all. a bit surprise too. sashimi is so good, rolls are also excellent. recommend u the oil teriyaki tuna, you will love it!
Walked in with a huge craving for sashimi and I was not disappointed. ordered the dinner for 2 $40. So worth it and portions are big! The Dinner came with assorted sashimi which totally satisfied my craving! The oyster motoyaki was bigger than my phone! We couldn't finish this meal and had to doggie bag the rest which was 1/3 of the dinner meal. I would come back for my next sushi craving.
Now New Owner & New Menu. I like it.
Taste very very good !
Sashimi is really fresh .
Yummy sushi :). Been coming here for years. rolls are not ridiculously large like so many other places (they fit in your mouth without horrible embarrassment) and the servers are really nice. even the chefs at the sushi bar usually greet you with a loud hello when you come in the door, which is cool.
good sushi and hot dishes with fresh ingredients (the spicy tofu teriyaki is really good), nice decor and atmosphere too :)
Best sushi place in area. This is the best sushi joint in the area. My faves are their winter california roll (amazing!) and the mango roll too. Staff are super nice and super quick.
Delicious, but authentic not. Kiku Sushi makes fabulous rolls (I personally like the winter rolls and the teriyaky chicken cone), but I wouldn`t frequent it as often as I would a few other Japanese restaurants- why? Because I doubt it`s authenticity. Eating at full-on Japanese restaurants may just be a preference for me, but it`s true! Korean-owned and Chinese-owned Japanese restaurants are *cough* wrong
These guys make good sushi, period.. I fear that I'm going to become their frequent customer. For a man who doesn't eat out much, Kiku's sushi are something to behold. I have only been there twice and I am already deep in love with their rolls, especially the House Roll. If you ever go there definitely order one. You will find it's packed with contents. Their rolls don't have too much rice, which is good because you can fully enjoy the sensation of the contents inside. I have been to many restaurants who either put too much rice in their rolls, or too much 'cheap' food inside. The rice is not sticky, so you can pick it up with your hands without worrying having to wipe it every time. I wouldn't say their portions are huge, as I have seen bigger. But their sushi excels in quality and taste. The fish is always fresh, the fried food is crispy yet not greasy. And they serve their dish pretty fast too. Although their customer service may not be too attentive. The first time I went there the waitress never came to refill my tea. But nothing beats delicious food, right?
Great Sushi for Burnaby. Previous to this week, I've only had take out from Kiku as a friend lives in the area and we'd grab a quick bite before heading out.
They have combos and specials and a good assortment of rolls, hot and cold items, and noodles and rice as well. I've always found their food tasty and good value; their combos typically come with a salad, sunomono, and rice.
The best value is their dinner combo B. For under thirty dollars, two (or possibly three!) can dine on ebi sunomono (with huge pieces of prawn on top), miso soup, california roll, 4 pcs of sushi, assorted tempura (with 4 pcs prawn + a great assortment of veggie tempura!) , chicken or beef teriyaki, and rice. The portions for this combo are quite large, considering it is a meal for 2. I was impressed by how quickly the food came.
We were greeted by all the staff once we entered, and seated promptly in a booth. Waitresses came by twice to check on us and refill our tea.
We'll try the "Winter California roll" next time - it's a California roll topped with chopped scallop topping and browned slightly under a broiler. Mmmm.
Right after Sleepy and I came home from summer camp, we were famished. Being back in Vancouver brought us instant cravings for Asian food… notably sushi since there really isn’t any good sushi joints on the Island. My sister suggested we try Kiku Sushi since we took her with us. She frequents that place with her boyfriend for her sushi cravings. Kiku Sushi was a little hidden in the back of the plaza where the TD and London Drugs is by Metrotown. I remember seeing a really good groupon deal for this place, but when we looked for it… they were sold out! The reason why she comes here is because of the Winter California Roll ($5.50) . I’m not really sure what makes this roll winter. The scallop is not even white! But regardless, the scallop was perfectly seared with mayonnaise which went well with the California Roll.
i came to kiku twice but only intended one visit and this was to use another group buy coupon. the first time i went, it was at lunch and they did not let me but decided to stay anyways and returned for dinner another day. they are known for special rolls and lunch/dinner combos so this is what we ordered on visit 1: lucky choice combo ($8.25): choice of 3 items with miso soup including rolls, nigiri or appetizer/small entrees. house roll: my favourite one of the three, this was packed with crab meat and quite large in size! they didnt skimp on the filling of salmon either and it ended up being quite tasty. 3.75/5 chicken teriyaki roll: not bad, sauce was super sweet but again, lots of filling although theres LOTS of rice which made me realize i should've just ordered a chicken teriyaki instead of the roll. 3/5 spicy salmon roll: quite a bit of salmon but sauce tastes like straight siracha and wasnt actually mixed into the roll either...again LOTS of rice. tuna oil tataki ($9.95): just like tuna tataki except with a strong oil, sesame and soy sauce base topped with green onions and ginger. the tuna was alright...strangely cut but seared nicely. the sauce was a bit salty but went well with the tataki. it was quite a large portion for the price and we enjoyed this! 4/5 on visit 2, we used the coupon which included a choice of appetizer, chicken teriyaki either rolls or nigiri and sashimi and ends with green tea ice cream. this "meal" was around 13 dollars so we didnt save MUCH but thats what happens sometimes. spicy salmon roll (same as above): ordered on top of deal chicken teriyaki: small portion of chicken was served lukewarm but the chicken wasnt tough or dry so thats a plus! 3/5 gyoza: very poorly made...all ripped up at the bottom 1.75/5 nigiri and sashimi: sashimi spicy sauce tasted just like siracha but the nigiri were fine. 2.5/5 winter dynamite roll ($6.50): this was pretty expensive but the best part of our meal. they have both california and dyna
For anyone who works near the Metropolis/ Metrotown area, I found a new restaurant for you guys to try. I would even say its a hidden gem. My coworker Robot recommended me to this place for fresh raw oysters and when we first got in, they told us they were out. We were so ready to leave because we REALLY wanted oysters at the time but decided not to be mean and stay. What surprised us about the food was that it was actually really really delicious! For a restaurant that is pretty much unheard of, we were not expecting to be wowed like this. We started with the Winter California Roll ($5.50) . All of their 'winter' rolls are torched and we chose this which is essentially a California Roll with raw scallops on top and a dollop of Motoyaki mayo that has been torched. The combination of fresh scallops and decadent smokey mayo really made me salivate and I absolutely fell in love with this roll! Some people on Urbanspoon said they hated this roll but I loved it so you should taste this and
