Always love going back here, they’ve got great sushi, always fresh and really really good prices too. Their staff is friendly too, so that adds to the place’s warmth!
Food is pretty consistent - we have been coming here for years. It's a good local joint that we enjoy coming to for take out. If you are eating in, I recommend you go earlier, especially if you have a larger party.
Portions were great and the pricing for the food was amazing (compared to back home anyways!) Service was friendly and prompt for the most part. Was only 4.5 because I felt the wait staff could have checked on our tea refills a bit more often (our tea was empty for 15 minutes with only two other tables occupied at the time). Would totally come here again though!
Forget to take pics! But food was great! Tried their couple of special rolls! Delicious! Sashimi was fresh, and the portion was good too! I'm not actually a sushi roll fan, but I love sashimi. This is why I keep going Sushi Garden because they have very good size of sashimi with fair price. Here Sushi Town, same size of portion in same price. Compared to Sushi garden, they have better service! From now on, I probably will skip Sushi Garden and come to this place!
Sushi Town has been around for as long as I can remember. As a Burnaby girl growing up, this restaurant was a staple for my friends and I. I feel that Sushi Town, Sushi California and Sushi Garden are all comparable in what they serve. However, from my perspective Sushi Town has hands down the best Spicy Tuna Don.
I have been to this Sushi Town location on several occasions and I really enjoy the sushi here. Almost every time, we get the Salmon Sashimi along with the Philadelphia Roll (my boyfriend's favourite). Depending on how we feel, also the Prawn Tempura. The food is really good. I also like their Alaska Roll. We recently tried the Fantastic Roll and it was delicious!
Also worth mentioning, the Chicken Yaki Udon is good too (fairly large portions too)! Worth a stop if you're in the area and craving sushi!
Food is great very good quality sushi but falls short on service occasionally. They have a small beer list and sake but no wine. Their food cries out for wine . They should consider letting people bring in wine for a corkage. It is perfectly legal in BC besides with a corkage they make a net gain without having to tie up their capital in wine.
THEY SHOULD RENOVATE FOR SURE. Prices and foods are just perfect but compared to North Vancouver and Coquitlam they are small and I didn't like their atmosphere. Hope they renovate soon.
We went to Sushi Town on Hastings and Kensington for family dinner during a weekday. We order a lot of food but I was not able to eat fish that day so I ordered my veg. Udon and avocado roll and deep fried tofu without fish flakes. My veggie Udon was ok because it doesn't have much veggie but lots of udon. Deep fried tofu was good but I don't know somehow they put the tofu in the sauce so when I finished my Udon, the tofu was so salty. However, I love my avocado roll because it has a good amount of avocado. And the best thing is it is $3 or $3.50. Overall, the whole dinner for 7 people cost us about $70s and everyone was full. Service was efficient!! At 6:30pm the resto was almost full. My sister-in-law said this place does not take reservation on weekend. You have to reserve more than 2h prior to your desired arrival. Good value, efficient service. I can't say good quality because I hubby felt bloated after consuming some food during the visit. This might be due to cross contamination with raw fish. My hubby can't consume raw fish because it will give him stomach problem. But for my part, I felt ok. My tummy was happy with all the food.
Visit every time I'm in town. Best value for sushi in town! I don't live in the province anymore but I make a point of visiting every time I'm in town. The salmon sashimi is amazing and thick. Love the alaska roll, mangodise roll, bc roll. The service is admittedly bad, but the food is so good that I don't even care.
Good place :D. :) Not just because I live close by but really, I feel very satisfied anytime I visit (quite often!).
Menu option seems to be on the top list. Quality is really good and affordable for my budget.
I really like their spicy sashimi, very big portion!
Good Eats!. Ordered takeout for easy dinner tonight. Their Awesome rolls are really awesome! Sashimis are great too. Over happy with the order. Will definitely order again.
Good!. The sushi is good compare to it's price.
Good cheap sushi. If you like good, cheap sushi, this place is for you. Don't go for the service because you won't get it. Like most asian places, you need to yell and put your hand up if you need something. I like fancy sushi places with nice rolls too but find you pay for the presentation. Here you just pay for the food. Get take out and enjoy it at home. It's always packed in here so getting a table is hard during busy times.
I've been a frequent diner at Sushi Town for the past year and I can honestly say their food is quite delicious and probably the best in North Burnaby. The services however is terrible. The wait for your order to be taken is ridiculous even when the restaurant is at half capacity. Even when you do flag down a waitress she begins servin people who have sat down after you. Nowadays I avoid dining in here as often as possible. Take out from here is definitely the way to go.
Quantity > quality. This beats the other places, on taste, service, authenticity
I kind of like it. Food was not too bad...compared to the rate...It was a nice pick...
I don't like the location through...
It is not easy for me to find the restaurant...
YUMMY!. Good customer service and very sanitary. I go to Sushi Town a lot for their spicy salmon and tuna sashimi. The sashimi is very fresh and the sauce goes well with the sashimi. My girlfriend loves their terriyaki chicken roll, since she doesn't eat raw food and barely any sushi.
This restaurant was busy, even on a Thursday evening. They were busy with lots of take out orders, and lots of customers inside. Their salmon sashimi pieces are cut into big portions. The noodles in their seafood udon were QQ (al dente) and the broth was tasty enough. The rolls we had (spicy chopper scallop, mangodise, fantastic roll) were presented nicely with an added flare, however, the rolls were not tightly rolled enough so that when you tried to pick it up with your chopsticks, it just fell apart. This is quite a pet peeve of ours- rolls should be able to hold their shape. Apart from their look, the rolls had their own flavors, but nothing special stood out. The Fish-o-fillet roll tasted like the fish-o-fillet from McDonald's. One thing that was rather annoying about the service was that every time a waitress brought one of our orders over, they would ask in a confused tone whether or not we had ordered the item. It felt as if the restaurant was not very organized. Other than that, it was good and cheap.
Good sushi , terrible service ... ):
Awesome Roll. Best for take out sushi.
My Faves: Salmon sashimi, AWESOME roll and the Gomae
We love Sushi town, we live a block away and eat there at least once a week. Yes the burnaby location is small and old, but they serve the freshest tuna in town, and the prices can't be beat.
So as far what u get for u money goes this place is good , as far as 3 dollar rolls and 1.25 miso but restaurant it self smelt like stinky fish as did the role . besides that food was ok and totally cheap.
Consistently good takeout. I get takeout from Sushi Town about once a month, and they never disappoint. Pretty consistent quality and good value for your money.
The Alaska Roll with the miso paste is tasty.
I'm always here. Seriously. At least once a month. Sometimes I'm here three days a week. Must tries are: Alaska roll, awesome rolls, salmon sashimi and spicy salmon sashimi. Those who know me on twitter must be tired of hearing me saying how much I love this place haha! One of my favourite quick sushi joint!
Neighbourhood & Student Favourite. Good value when considering the portions and the prices are great for students who come here for lunch. Quality-wise, it's nothing special but you get what you pay for.
Would recommend their spicy tuna sashimi, I really like how they added gochujang.
Rolls!. I have been going to Sushi Town on a semi-regular basis for a while now. It's a great place to get take-out as their service is efficient. One thing I'd like to point out for you sushi roll-lovers out there: ST's rolls are not that great, as they often fall apart when you pick them up with chopsticks. They taste fine, but maybe because they are in such a rush they don't spend that much time on this.
Sushi Town, if you are reading this, please improve!! :)
We were there tonight around 7:30 and it was busy but not jam packed. It was about a 5-7 minute wait but when we were seated and ordered, food started arriving within minutes. Frankly we shocked at how fast the first plate of sashimi came and the rest of our order came soon after. The food was of course delicious and the kids quickly gobbled up their share while me and mommy did clean up duty (finish off what the kids don't eat) but with all the great sushi, we happily performed our parental duty.
Best Sushi period. I know the service is slow, but the place is small and very popular so that comes with the popularity of the place.
We order the tray A when we go, it is 42 pieces of sushi. We love the place and it is the only place we go for sushi. The sashimi is also very good.
Well worth the wait. I went on a Friday night and they don't take reservations, so we had to stand outside for almost half an hour. The food was well worth the wait though. When I go to a new Sushi place for the first time I always order a few things they all serve so I can judge how they stack up more easily. I always order miso soup, a BC roll and some basic sushi and sashimi. The miso soup, sushi and sashimi were excellent. The BC roll was a bit heavy on the veggies and very light on the BBQ salmon skin. All in all well worth the wait. I will return to try more.
Sushi Heaven.... Sushi Town is a packed and busy little Japanese restaurant. It's sushi is delicious and different, there are the traditional California Rolls, Dynamite Rolls and Miso soups; but they also have many self creations such as my personal favvourite: Awesome Roll. Their service is fast and friendly making Sushi Town one of my favourite Japanese cuisines. If you want to eat some breath taking sushi, this place is worth the wait!!
One of their most popular dishes in Sushi Town: Awesome Roll ($6.95). California roll topped with Salmon, Masago, green onion and Bonito. What make it so special was their sauces and Bonito. It’s a must at Sushi Town and it’s Awesome! Salmon Sashimi (9 pcs – $8.95) was fat, thick and fresh. Toro Nigiri ($1.35 each). Toro is the fattest part of Tuna and tastes completely different from regular red tuna. It melts in your mouth like heaven. They always ran out of Toro at night so get there early and they might even give you a thicker piece. We can’t get enough of Toro Nigiri so here’s a big plate of Toro sashimi ($ 9.95). Behind that it’s beef Teriyaki with a bowl of Rice ($ 7.95). I was not very impressed by their Assorted Sushi ($11.50) after the Toro Nigiri and super thick S

I discovered Sushi Town on Hastings as an inexpensive, decent alternative to SFU campus food 3 years ago and since then, I have been there so many times I lost count. It is a very popular restaurant which regularly experiences wait times (despite its rather odd location and run-down appearance from the outside) and is especially frequented by SFU students. On the other hand, they have enough chefs working at the sushi bar so that everything comes out in a minimal amount of time.
Complaints aside, the food is good and Sushi Town is relatively cheap and satisfying for what you get. You know what they say about a busy restaurant.
I recently made a trip to Sushi Town in Burnaby for a quick dinner before school. Sushi Town has four locations around Metro Vancouver in Burnaby, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and Surrey. Sushi Town is known for their cheap food and large portions and as a result, they are popular with students in the area. The outside looks a little run down, but it’s not bad inside. I’ve heard good things about their spicy sashimi, so I went with the spicy salmon sashimi don ($9.50). I was shocked at how much sashimi is actually in the bowl. The portion was so large I couldn’t completely finish it (and that’s saying something). I was impressed with the salmon for how cheap it was. It tasted very fresh and it was melt in your mouth tender. The spicy sauce had some heat to it and I loved the bold flavour of it. Along with the salmon, there were also chunks of cucumber and green onions topping the dish, which added a contrasting crunchy texture to the tender salmon. Beneath the massive pile of salmon was
Spicy salmon sashimi recommended...Student food-do not expect anything top-quality
Sushi Town consistently delivers tasty food and you can count on it to fill you up without breaking the wallet.
I always came here in high school since it was less than a block away. For a student, it is the perfect place to eat for cheap. Ever since M kept getting very sick after eating here… we knew that something wasn't right. He didn't just get sick once or twice, but three times. Later on we found out some of the chefs do not wash their hands after smoking and/or going to the washroom. I am sure this happens at other restaurants as well, but it's just kinda gross when you know about it. Since I was kinda sick of campus food and BusanGirl insisted we go here for Alaska rolls, I agreed. It is a fact they have some damn good Alaska rolls. We arrived at noon on a weekday and it was slightly busy. My greatest fear of Sushi Town is the scary machine that hangs above the back table. Their menu layout has changed too. BusanGirl had the chicken teriyaki ($7.95). It has bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, chicken and teriyaki sauce. You also get a bowl of rice too. She said she liked it. The chicken w
just last week after our miracle web meeting, we decided to head to sushi town to have dinner since it is close to the office.
This is one of those sushi restaurants run by Koreans. They've got an assortment of unique rolls, all quite good. Good flavours.
Great and consistent sushi in Burnaby. We always get take out from here and today we dined in.
Staff are friendly and the restaurant had plenty of seating for the 8 of us in our group.
We’ve had both dine in and ordered take out. Would say the sushi is decent and they have a pretty good selection for rolls. Not as fresh as expected for being in Vancouver, but still good.
Take out isn’t the best but it’s expected with it sitting for a bit during transportation.
Really fresh and amazing food. Very friendly staff and clean washrooms which is a sign of good management. I think they should serve their Miso soup a bit warmer. Other than that its a great restaurant.
Been coming here for awhile now. This place serves solid and fresh sushi.
Their menu and food provided is very much like Sushi Garden's. The service I get here is pretty good and they refilled my tea after asking. Food came quick and served with a smile. Server also checked up on us while we were eating.
I usually order the salmon sashimi which is cut very nicely with good sized portions. The taste is very fresh, light and chewy. The Awesome Roll is one of my favorite special rolls to get. It is a California roll with bonito flakes, seared salmon and drizzled with spicy mayo; the flavors really combine well with each other. The Alaska roll is yummy as well but does look a bit gross. The chopped scallop is a bit of a disappointment as isn't much flavor to the roll and the scallops are diced to tiny morsels.
Other rolls I suggest is Bill's roll.

Impromptu farewell lunch for a friend. Place was pretty empty when we went ~ 5.30pm on a Saturday.
Service:
Adequate. Servers will take your order and serve you the food. If you want water or any drinks, you have to get their attention. They don't take initiative to check on you though there were three-four wait staff.
Food:
Delicious food. Rolls were slightly small as compared to places like Sushi Cali/Ginza and other Korean run sushi places. Ingredients were fresh which was good. Rice was packed well. (Refer to pictures) Was slightly disappointed as the rolls were not as filling as expected.
Price:
I had to order two sets. Approx $22 to be satiated.
Would I come again?
Probably. With more friends. But probably wouldn't tip as much. Barely any service, manage your expectations before going.
