My girlfriend and I were searching around for a good happy hour last Monday night after a long day at the office. Nearly giving up, we found cactus to have a Monday night happy hour (turns out they have one every night of the week, and is now the easiest choice of happy hours for us.. and we go A LOT)
We thought our night would be just sad and the week would continue to be overbearing at the office.
within the first hour of being at Cactus Club, our mood immediately flipped 180 degrees! Our bartender was so attentive to us, kept on top of all our demands, and we never once had to ask for additional drinks or napkins.. He was quick to understand his clients while still tending to all the other guests in the area. We were sooo impressed that this fellow young man was busy at the bar, stepping out to serve other customers, and still managed to make us girls laugh! (I have to mention, he was also so friendly to his staff and overall, a great asset to Cactus Club, I hope this gentleman gets promoted and that his employers value him as much as us!!
We walked in on a Monday night thinking "its only Monday and this week is going to be hell" and walked out thinking "its only Monday, and I already feel as good as I do on a Friday afternoon!"
This young man's name is Mitch P. and when he asked us to leave a review, we didn't even have to think twice! 10/10 would come again, and 10/10 would recommend!!
Always great service and the food is consistently great. This location I find the staff are attentive and friendly. My favourite meal is the butternut squash ravioli.
Great food, attentive staff and warm surroundings. We came here for lunch and my wife just fell in love. The server was great, genuinely interested in what we were up to. We chatted for what seemed a while and she was very efficient at her job at the same time. Food was great, I had the crispy chicken sandwich and my wife had the teriyaki rice bowl. We will be back.
My go to dishes are the teriyaki chicken rice bowl, lettuce wraps, calamari and flatbread. But this day I decided to try something new: shirt ribs. It was so good! I've been ordering the wrong thing at cactus club this whole time!!! The short rib was tender, the sauce was delicious and the hot sauce went well with it. And the potatoes are amazing as always.
Consistently solid cactus club venue. I had the spaghettini with meatballs, one of my favourite dishes. Good service, the restaurant is large and airy, with a large patio for the summer.
Great service and great food. Close to my house.
Try the Celeriac Soup. If you haven't tried it yet, the Celeriac Soup is truly amazing! I didn't know what a 'celeriac' was but it turns out to be aged white cheddar with black pepper croutons and extra virgin olive oil. Save the grissini bread stick so that you wipe up the bowl to savour every drop.
I usually order the Millionaire’s Cut – a seven ounce filet mignon with sautéed creole jumbo prawns. It's always served the perfectly - in my case medium rare. Coupled with one of the red cabs on a reasonable wine list, I haven't had a bad meal and beverage at the Byne Road Cactus Club yet.
Plus I understand they have a young new chef who's making sure the meals arrive fast, fresh and foodie-worthy.
I give this location two forks up!
Definitely a wonderful place to go. Went there last Friday night, crazily busy and therefore took quite a while for the meals to come, yet worthwhile for the wait...
We were a group of three, order 2 of their "four mushroom sirloin – 7oz certified angus beef® sirloin, shiitake, portabello, button and crimini mushroom demi-glace" and 1 "the burger – certified angus beef®, sautéed button mushrooms, aged cheddar, alder smoked bacon, red pepper relish"
So yummy!!
The atmosphere was great but a bit noisy (because they're so busy).

Great vibe. Eat dessert. The nicest meal here, coupled with the friendly, capable, attentive staff.
Starter was the Caesar Salad: crisp leaves, great greated parma cheese, crisp croutons appropraielty sized.
Main was the Salmon fillet, served with daikon, on a barley bed with dijon mustard jus. Perfectly cooked, very tasty.
Dessert, was unavaiodble. Chocolate slab with carel shmear and pearl balls. Worth every calorie. Seriously decadent.
Funky vibe. Great music. Perfect postion. Happy clients. Clean.

Pricey but Good. This Cactus Club service and atmosphere are uniformly warm, welcoming and ... appetizing. I find that once I've been welcomed and seated, and my server has introduced him/herself, I suddenly have an inclination to get an appy and a drink when all I came for was an entree and a coke.If anything is ever wrong with your order, or even if there is a slight delay in service, you will receive a nice apology and often a free appy or desert for your "trouble." We really feel appreciated here. My hubby's favorite dishes are The Burger w/bacon and cheddar, Raincoast Greens and most of all the Jack Daniels Ribs. My favorites being honest is the calamari and the cheesecake.
Great food, generally predictable service (on the good side), awesome atmosphere. If you've never been - this is a great "loungey" chic restaurant to grab some drinks and good food after a hard week!

Was here for lunch, service was great. Had "the burger", blackened creole chicken, chicken fingers. We enjoyed all our meals. The best was the key lime pie! Fresh made everyday!
Awesome new Cactus in south Burnaby! Kaytlyn was an awesome server and kept us laughing the whole time. Our meals were great. We definitely recommend this location!
Lovely everything: food,d rinks and staff. We dig the ladies. I recommend the chain and this location. Open late for your viewing er eating pleasure.

When you step inside, the outside vibe slips away and you're hit with "sleek," "hot" and "modern."
I can't speak for the desserts but they have a large variety of appies, food, wine and cocktails on their menu. Impressive for a shopping location, I thought.
It's a great place for large groups and absorbing the blonde eye candy. There are comfortable leather seats and booths all around. It's truly a lounge where you can just chill out and have a few drinks. And take your date somewhere or even take your wife if things need to be smoothened at home.
Ah Cactus Club. I go to the Cactus Club every now and again and seem to leave with the same feeling...good, but a little pricey for if you don't put it on company tab.
I had the steak today and ate every bite - tasty! Our waitress was super nice as well, which I was excited about if you know what I mean gentlemen.
The decor is a modern and the staff one prettier than the other. If you take your girlfriend wear shades.
LOVE the washrooms...clean plastic moves around the seat so you don't have to squat! AND you can watch the cooking show while you tinkle!
Surprised. I Liked THE Burger.... This part of town has really developed the past few years. Full of box stores and of course the franchise chains of restaurants. Cactus Club was a last second choice, with the aim of catching the rest of the morning's NFL action on a big screen in a comfy setting, with beer and food. Its not a place I'd pick otherwise.
The lounge area fortunately had an open booth to grab and we settled into the menu and ordered one of the special brews of the day. A light wheat all variety. Reminded me of the commercialized Grasshopper from Big Rock.
As it was my virgin visit to Cactus Club, I thought I'd get the burger I'd heard about. At $14.50, it wasn't cheap but did have several toppings with it (cheddar, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and a sweet tasting red pepper relish). The patty was hearty and very juicy. Well cooked, to my amazement.
I'd probably go back for this burger, though wouldn't go out of my way for it. The setting is just not my style though.
Next up on our list of revisits is Cactus Club (Byrne Road). This time around, we’ll be looking at some of the lighter options on their menu including soups, salads, and lighter fare.
