Good food. Wonderful ambience. Fast service. What else could you ask for? Ummm...more vegetarian options maybe. PRIMARILY A SUSHI PLACE BUT TRY THE PIZZA HERE. Out of handful of vegetarian options I ordered their pizza(see picture)Oh boy what a pizza it was. Unique and delicious. Was made of rice probably. Was mini sized slices and quantity was ok.
The Pina Colada(picture) was amazing too.
Thanks. Happy Eating
dre @aug8restaurant: We were very confused when we saw this restaurant take the place of where Spring Rolls used to be at Bramalea City Centre. We thought the new restaurant was opening on August 8th, but then we found out it was the actual name of the restaurant! It didn't make it clearer when it did actually open sometime close to August 8. I think it was either a couple weeks before or after.
I consistently have good experiences here aside from the occasional ipad malfunction. The food comes out hot, and usually within a good time span after sending your order off to the main kitchen. A very trustworthy addition to BCC's food family.
Beautiful new restaurant where spring rolls used to be. Every table has an ipad mini to order from. Similar menu to other AYCE places but more dim sum offerings. Try the steamed custard bun for dessert! Dinner was 28.99 on a friday... So quite a bit more than good ol' 168. Will probably return every now and then for the dim sum and atmosphere... but 168 still is the best value for money.
My bf and I came here late last night and the sushi and service was great! I especially loved the torched sushi. The lime daiquiri was also great but not very alcoholic. Both our server and Ryan the assistant manager was very friendly and helpful to talk to! Will definitely be coming back!
Note: the portions are quite large and the sashimi is very thick cut so be careful not to over order!
Pretty good. Salmon was really delicious... Very fresh and palatable.
The eel, unagi, was a little bit tasting like the fish tank...
.but overall it's very very good.
Lunch Buffet was about $30 +$12 for the hot sake 🤪🤓
Recommend.
Great all-you-can-eat sashimi including a wide variety of other types of sushi. The washrooms were not clean and could have used a bit more attention to maintaining cleanliness. However, no complaints regarding the food and drinks!
Service is great and the food itself is all delicious. The sushi was fresh and tasted amazing. Their spicy style sushi could cut back on the amount of mayo/sauce added to the dishes as the meat was drowning in the sauce in the rolls.
The all you can eat service is always wonderful but they have been taking a lot of things off their lunch menu and adding to dinner menu :( The sushi is always tasty, fresh, and the presentation is perfect. The restaurant is clean and service is quick.
Sometimes you have an AYCE sushi craving. Other times it's dim sum. At August 8, you can dine on both! Since inception in Hamilton, it has caught on with locations creeping into the GTA. We visited the newish restaurant at Bramalea Mall. The mall has been revamped to give it a bit of class. The eye-catching August 8 wall is hard to miss.
Took some time to be seated inside the restaurant, which has multiple dining areas with unique decors. Tablet ordering is efficient, though ours wasn't initially setup till we asked. The assortment of platters quickly arrived however. Sashimi, siu mai, dumplings & buns portions were small. Guess that's quite ideal for average quality AYCE.
A few other highlights: Scallops were mildly sweet & plump in the sashimi and salad appetizer. Avoid the taco & calamari which were over-fried & dry. The torched sushi & rainbow roll with salmon, snapper, tuna and butterfish had terrific flavour from the sweet soy sauce & hint of smokiness. The aburi sushi selection was equally tasty. Better than plain rice bowls that were ordered by a few other tables!
For birthdays, they gave a special slice of mille cake which we enjoyed with several layers of crepe and ice cream. My wife quite liked the meal so we came back as soon as we were able to dine-in post-pandemic lockdown when one of us craved for sushi and the other for dim sum.
My family came here the other night for the dim sum and we had an excellent experience. I loved the shrimp dumplings and the beef ribs the most. Our server Nathan provided us quick and friendly service and was extremely helpful. I will be returning.
First time trying August 8 sushi and we were pleasantly surprised! The weekend AYCE rate is steep but you get what you pay for - a menu full of variety, the option to order as per your convenience on an ipad, a nice ambiance and great fast service! The two unique things I loved about this place were the torched sushi (never knew sushi could taste this flavourful when warm!) and dim sum dumplings (soft, delicious and presented in a steam basket). Will be back again!
