We've finally tried the food at the Shanty Cafe and are disappointed that we waited so long to do so. It's delicious! Our son enjoys the Thorburger and hubby and I think the Filet Mignon Sandwich and the Muy Cubano are to die for. We've already eaten there twice and I can see us going back again and again. My only disappointment was that the Cuban Congri (rice & beans) is no offered as a side dish with other items than the Muy Cubano. That rice is one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten but we're not huge fans of pork. Please consider adding it as a optional side dish (even at an additional charge) to your other offerings as well. We would have loved to have it with our Filet Mignon sandwiches tonight instead of salad or fries but were told it wasn't possible. Keep up the excellent work!
We went here for breakfast while on our mini road trip. Was amazing! Had the Shanty Breakfast - eggs, bacon (a wicked portion for a restaurant breakfast), homefries (best restaurant homefries I've ever had), and toast. And coffee. Really good coffee. The food was so good, the service was terrific. Many thanks to the young man training at the Needs/Shell station on Starr's Road for recommending The Shanty Cafe! Was a great start to our day! We'll be back the next time we're in Yarmouth!
Went in for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious. The appetizers came out quickly, and hot. Our main course was fantastic (Lobster poutine was unreal). Our server, Tom, was wonderful and spot on with any extras that we needed. Would highly recommend, and even more highly recommend their cheesecake.
Had my very first fish cake. Very tasty. Staff was fun and friendly. Live music was great! Sadly, we missed out on the patio due to the weather earlier in the day.
Always enjoy eating here! It was my sisters first time and she can't wait to go again! Good prices and amazing homemade dessert.
Friendly staff with great service. Ordered lobster sandwich with fries plus Caesar salad with lobster as our meals.
We ate dinner here on the way into Nova Scotia and on our last night because the experience and food was so good. The four of us all had seafood both times. This is a roomy and busy place. The service was great and so was the food. I had a lobster sauced seafood crepe at the second dinner, and the scallops and lobster meat inside were very nicely cooked. Of particular note were the maple glazed root vegetables as a side included with dinners. Delicious and different. Last but not least is the fact that this is also a brewery. The house drafts were delicious too, especially the red ale.
Fish cakes were delicious. Food was plentiful. $6 martinis!! Shout out to Sarah our bartender. She was 6 star
A fun place to eat with amazing food choices. Lemon Pepper Scallops were fab. Other choices at the table were fish cakes and the fish were chips. Everyone was very happy. Also tried the beer that is made on site and was great! Try this place and you will be very happy you did.
Lobster was excellent and very tasty, we also had the lobster roll sandwich , i suggest getting the lobster by its self it is much more tastier and fresher, lobster roll sandwich is still excellent, deep fried cheese curds and battered fries were amazazing, great service by waitress, we came from southern ontario and it was worth the wait to get the lobster here it had a nice buttery salty nutty lemon taste, great texture.
