I am very happy to say that we had lunch at our favorite dim sum restaurant in Wpg yesterday. And YES the food as always was the MOST DELICIOUS AT EVERY BITE!!! The seating capacity is at 50% till the 21st and increase to 75% capacity after that. ENJOY!
Victoria Seafood offers solid dim sum at a extremely affordable and reasonable rate. While there were clearly some misses on the dishes, there is enough here to satisfy most dim sum diners - a perfect spot for those wanting to delve into it for the first time as one can order a large variety without breaking the wallet. Definitely a consideration for those in the area.
It is pretty good. I had shrimp dumplings, and seafood dumplings. The skin did easily fall off the dumplings. The custard buns are good too. Pretty standard dim sum. I haven't tried anything else. It is moderately priced.
Victoria Seafood seems to be the only place to order dim sum in St Vital, however, on weekends they open at 11 am so don't arrive early for breakfast. They have a decent price ($2.75) for most of the dim sum menu during prime hours (11 am-3pm, on holidays until 4pm). Each dish is steamed/fried to order; no carts. On our most recent visit we had pea pod tips with shrimp dumplings, stuffed eggplant, Victoria pork dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, soft rice noodles stuffed with shrimp, and fried and steamed rice noodle H.K. style. For the rice noodle dishes, there was less sauce for soaking, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for those concerned with salt intake. No dish was stand out or exceptional, but no dish was unpleasant either. It's rare to see the H.K. style rice noodle, which is a fried Chinese donut wrapped with rice noodles.
I usually order a ho fan with beef for dinner with no complaints. This is a standard family-run Chinese restaurant. Our most recent server was pleasant and attentive.
I've been going here for about 15 years, and it's consistently where my family gathers for dim sum. Always fast, hot, tasty and cheap. Highly recommend the deluxe pork dumplings, the shrimp dumplings, the lotus rice, the bbq pork buns, the shrimp rice noodle and the pan fried dumplings.
This is an old restaurant I guess. Only two waitresses in the lobby. From Monday to Sunday 11:00am to 3 or 4 pm, small medium and large dim sim are 2.75 dollars. All dim sims are tasty. I will come here again to try others.
Favourite Chinese Spot. I have been ordering here for years and it's my go to place! Friendly staff, quality flavourful food. I moved out of the area but I still make the trip for the take-out. :)
Good food. Table for ten people and everything was wonderful. Gf and I shared pan fried dumplings which were stuffed and yummy. breaded shrimp, deluxe fried rice and beef with mushrooms. Loved everything except I would have preferred fresh mushrooms to canned. server was attentive and accurate. Definitely will go back
My favourite place for dim sum.. Whenever I get the craving for dim sum I'm sure to come here. Always pretty quick service and tasty food whenever I've been there.
A friend and I showed up at 8 pm on a Wednesday for dim sum, and were the only ones there. Had steamed BBQ pork buns, Victoria spring rolls, pan fried meat dumplings (basically gyoza) and Chinese perogies.
Steamed buns were lovely - fluffy, soft and sweetish bun wrapped around a saucy pork filling. Nice thick slices of pork, very flavourful sauce.
Spring rolls were good. Not greasy, very crisp, tasty filling. Served with vinegary orange plum sauce similar to the packets you get with takeout.
Dumplings were the standout. Tender dough filled with juicy, delicious pork and green onions. Plenty of ginger, not too much salt. Could have eaten a dozen of them.
Chinese perogies were not a fave. Dough was fried crispy outside, sweet and sticky-chewy inside. Filling was underwhelming. Only "Chinese perogy" I've ever had, but wouldn't order again.
Timing was excellent on food; just wrapping up one dish as next came out. Service was pleasant.
I have now been going to Victoria Seafood for the last 27 years by far the best dim sum in Winnipeg. Food always so fresh happy hour even on weekends. My favorite is the shrimp dumplings with Chinese chives so good. I can't say enough about this place. Love it so much.
Staff very friendly. The dim sum is delicious, and the price is favorable (everyday 11:00am-4:00pm happy hour, any dim sum S-L only $3.50dine-in and pick up only)
They supplied dim sum all day long, daily dim sum special prices (small, medium and large dim sum dishes all for one same prices) before 4 pm ; after 4 pm return to regular prices.
They also has a great variety choice of main dishes too.
This is perhaps the second best place in the city to have dim sum (Kum Koon being first) , I come here at least two times a week now because I’ve moved into the area.
This is a family run business with a total of two people in the kitchen and one waitress, and at peak hours orders will be mixed up, the one waitress would carry the food out, tend to customers, seat people, do the cashier, and answer the telephone!
