Wow . . . what a wonderful little secret tucked away in the heart of Wolseley! Probably THE best breakfast I've ever enjoyed, hands down. Love the touch of the thermos of coffee at the table. That is the type of thing that to me says "come, stay, eat, chat, enjoy <3 "
HIGHLY recommend!
Best breakfast in Winnipeg...bar none. There could be no reason for any ratings under 5 because of the meticulous work that goes into every dish and drink no matter how picky you are...treat yourself and give it a try.
Great food, friendly staff with awesome costumer service. My whole whole family has been there and they all love it. Lovely atmosphere for breakfast
A nice little breakfast on Westminster Avenue. Don't let the inside interior deceived you but this place serves great breakfast at affordable price. Fast friendly service...and yes, cash basis payment only. Be back.
one of my new favourite brunch places! I enjoy that the small, well thought menu changes everyday. Maybe try using Square for those who don't carry cash with them? Interior isn't the most appealing, but has an old school diner feel.
several great benedicts
cold brew milkshake
wish it was open every day
someone on here gave it a bad review because it's cash only. that person is an idiot.
One of my favourite breakfast joints in the city. They have the best hollandaise sauce and at least 5 different types of eggs benny to try. Creative menu, great food, great coffee, and ice cream in the summer all in a cozy (and I mean cozy!) restaurant with a kitschy, mis-matched decor. 3 tables, counter seating, and a table outside. Cash only!
Often when I am at St. Margaret’s, my trip there and/or back takes me down Westminster Avenue, often on my way to/from Thom Bargen. During the last year as I wandered, I noticed a new little place called 1958. Much like Wannabees however, I never seemed to go by when it was open. Then late last year I read about the Kickstarter campaign 1958 was running to keep it’s doors open.
This is a cute cafe with good solid food and fair prices with large portions. Limited seating.
We shared a table with others. It has a very friendly vibe where everyone is like neighbors. I mean it is a neighborhood spot for sure but many drive a distance to come check it out. I know a lot of people who are hooked.
This review is of my initial visit.
We did the pancakes and the prairie farmer Benny.
I asked for a side of their cheese sauce. It went very well with the potatoes.
Service was very friendly but difficult to get attention because they are very very busy.
You can call for reservations.
The parking is difficult. It's free street parking, but there are a number of stores in this area.
I debated between a 4-5 but I wasn't in love with anything. There was a lot to like. I think this needs a revisit. I'm thinking there should be something that should put it up there, but for now, from my experience it's at a 4.
*Side note for myself: this is my 500 review
One of the best breakfast spots in the city, very delicious food here. Not a ton of seating but they do take reservations which is great!!
Absolutely love this place. Keep in mind it's a small cafe and you might have to wait for a table. Trust me, it's worth it. The ham used in the ham it up Benny is unreal, the most beautifully poached eggs, great music playing and a super cozy atmosphere. Oh god and THE JAM!! 😍
Best breakfast place run by the nicest people! There's something for everyone, and something new (and often very creative!) every week. It's impossible to pick a favourite. As one of the last commenters mentioned, the hashbrowns are always A+++
1958 is a definite stop for people visiting Winnipeg. It's a unique hole in the wall. Their food and staff are worth the wait lol.
Wonderful place to eat you can make this place your own easily. The first time I was there I had an amazing sense of déjà vu. But Don’t let me influence you just Go there.
My favourite breakfast place! Homemade food with a rotating menu. Serving size is plentiful and the food is AMAZING!
