Great fish and chips ❤️ we ate in the restaurant and the tables had a nice vibe and the food was great and fresh. the fish was flaky and the batter was light and crispy. I felt the value was definitely there!
1st time getting delivery from this place & it was pretty good all around. Fish batter was light & golden, with the fish nice & moist! Chips crisp & tasty. Found the batter on the shrimp too heavy/dense. Would hav been better with the fish batter. Clams too dry & tasteless for my liking. Scallops were fantastic! Definitely ordering fish & chips again! Oh, & the large order of coleslaw (which was excellent) for $2.00 was a mere small coffee cup size! I was expecting a huge carton-full. Cabbage is inexpensive, isn't it?
Need to get heat-retaining takeout containers! Wrapping in paper, especially for delivery, does NOT KEEP FOOD WARM! :(
Being British I can honestly say I know my fish and chips - this place is one of the best in Canada I have found - I even took a work colleague in from Grimsby (a place by the sea in England) and he gave Duckys the thumbs up.
Fish was nice, white, flaky with a good batter, chips were good size, nicest crisp and fresh.
Try this place out
New owners are friendly! Same food served. Fish was fresh and the batter was just right. I will come back with friends and family for sure.
Awesome food, service, and replaces place is run by real genuine people who care about you. I will come back again!
Good food but the place is getting really run down. Friends had told me Ducky's has the best fish & chips in Winnipeg so my wife & I went there on a Saturday night to try it out. They were right about the food. It was good home-cooked style fare that we both enjoyed. What we weren't prepared for was how old and run down the place was. There was a ceiling tile missing, and maybe that's where the draft was coming from. The restaurant clearly hasn't been updated in many years. But if you can ignore the physical surroundings you'll like the place just fine
Best halibut and chips I've tried in Winnipeg. Friendly staff and delicious food.
We loved this place. The owners been doing it all (cook, serve, till, etc) for over 30 years. She knows her fish. Very friendly.
Fantastic fish and chips - the last true great independent English fish and chip shop in Wpg after Jim's closed down.
Friendly staff and tasty fish. The thing I love most about this place is the atmosphere the staff provides. They're always willing to chat with you about how business is going, about what you do and were you do it, and are just genuinely friendly in a way you don't see very often anymore.
The fish itself is always the best. Beats any other fish and chips in the entire city without a doubt. Very fresh tasting, and homemade style chips. Quite often the fish you order will take up your entire plate!
The decor might leave much to be desired but although this might be the ugly duckling of seafood restaurants I think this place is definitely worth a trip. Don't be afraid of the diner-esque experience!
