Decor is a bit shabby, wood paneling and lime/puke green but breakfast was good. Nothing spectacular but I just had the bacon and eggs. The thin cut potatoes were great.
Great little place for breakfast. There have been times I've gone and I've left sweating because it was too hot in there so I choose mild days now.
The prices are really affordable and the service is friendly.
My mom and I went here for breakfast yesterday on a recommendation from my auntie, it's a cute little restaurant, me and my mom both got the breakfast, she got the eggs Benedict and corn beef hash, I had the farmer sausage hash and over easy eggs with toast, it was pretty cheap, both ours were about 9-10$. I really enjoyed it here and it was a new take on hash browns, definitely will check out again.
Luv this place. My husband and I will drive half hour every Sunday to go there for breakfast. The decor is bad but the food is delicious and the service is great. Omelette, eggs Benedict and their homemade hashbrown are our favorite.
Favourite Breakfast. My husband and I discovered this gem of a place about 8 months ago. Even though it is a 25 minute drive from our home we have been back 4 times. Each time for breakfast. My husband's absolute favourite is the wonderful corned beef hash. I've had the corned beef hash but have also tried the eggs Benedict and the Mennonite style "Glomms kouke", patties made of cottage cheese and fried. All were delicious. The service has been friendly, prompt and courteous each time.
Can't wait to go again soon!
Best breakfast in town. If The Dawning was open late, I'd be there at all hours getting eggs benedict and corned beef hash. Breakfast is one of my top comfort foods, and this restaurant does it extremely well. I'm excited to try the farmer hash next time I'm there!
Great breakfasts!. We go there for their mexican omlette with a side of salsa. Always friendly staff, nice cozy decor, consistently great tasting food. Truly a feel-good restaurant...

Dawning. Best breakfast by far in st james,eggs are always perfect,sauces are delish,amazing burgers and soup,homemade fries,the staff is wonderful and warm,my family and friends fave,not to mention the coffee rocks,love it love it and love it...............................................
Good breakie. Went there last year. I had some different mennonite pancake things with breakfast and the option of perogies. I liked it! I would go back if it was not so far out of the way. We also had great service.
Not the type of restaurant you would take your girlfriend to propose marriage to nor the wine-&-dine experience to try and seal the deal of a high end potential client, but if you're looking for good food, good service and a restaurant that you could easily put on your favorite places to eat list, this is the place. The atmosphere is like stepping back into the 70's, but is welcoming and delicious. You're almost certain that you can blindly drop your finger anywhere on the menu and not be disappointed. And although you may not take your girlfriend there to propose to her nor a high end client to seal a deal, you can confidently bring either or both there frequently to enjoy some good, no frills, food. And isn't good, tasty food the #1 reason for going to a restaurant in first place? I've been there many times with different people and it's often top of the list when deciding where to eat. I'd give it 6 out of 5 if I could.
My family always loves going out to eat at Dawning. It is truly a staple of our neighborhood. Wonderful breakfasts and amazing burgers at an affordable price. For me, it represents the reason you should always support local because it is owned by a wonderful family. Came in for lunch after an appointment, had the chicken Caesar salad
Salad was absolutely amazing. Tasted really good!!! The soup was hot and also very tasty. The lady that served us was very kind. I'll be back this Thursday for lunch again!
Our long time favourite breakfast go to spot. Excellent, interesting menu items. Farmer sausage instead of bacon. Breakfast hash to die for!

Food is excellent, they are known for the eggs benedict but neglect that their gloms kuak is bomb. The service is fast.
Great mom and pop breakfast joint. Service is always amazing, portions are good and dishes come out quite promptly. Price is very affordable and so on Saturday and Sunday mornings it can be fairly packed. I would recommend this place strongly.
