The Burger Place came highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Friendly and efficient staff, but the star of the show are the burgers and fries (and chili). They rank right up there with the best in the city - which is not easy in a town filled with quality burger options! I wouldn't hesitate to go back when next in town.

I ordered the Deluxe cheese hamburger 🍔 with onion rings, and it was the finest burger I've ever eaten in Winnipeg. It was incredibly juicy, as if the meat had been precisely prepared with right ingredients. The onion rings were tasty and crunchy. I would like to suggest this restaurant to everyone because it has been operational in Winnipeg since 1929.

Can’t be careful enough to check an order for pickup - our order was missing fries and we were 15 minutes from the restaurant when we discovered it. The fries were $5 and driving back to the place and home again would also have been $5 in gas. The only part of the entire order that *I* was having was the missing fries, and I got nothing. Imagine ordering food and not getting any at all. That’s what happened to me. NOT IMPRESSED

WOW! I regret how long it took to try this place. You can taste the quality of the ingredients in the food- the burger was juicy and perfectly grilled, and the fries were beyond my expectations. Delicious milkshakes especially when seated at their patio. Thank you, will return again!

Went with my sister & I will admit I am vegetarian but love a good veggie burger with fries. My sister who isn't said her burger was fine, it was good - not the best. The fries were average. The veggie burger however was the absolute worst veggie burger I have ever eaten- the pattie was mush & flavourless, toppings were bland. I will not go back & my sister says she can find better burger places in the city.

I was quite excited to see a new burger place go up at the end of main. I had been hearing good and bad things about this place ??? I had a free hour the other day and figured it was time to give them a try. Quite honestly one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in a long time. Right from the moment we walked through the front door it was iffy !!!! The guy at the till called me BOSS !! And hovered over the poor kid trying to take my order. The girls ordered milkshakes and one had a dog the other a burger and they shared a fries. Me I had a burger. The milkshakes were very watery and both girls were like GRAMPA LOOK. Not to impressed. The fries were soggy and the burgers and hotdog were at best a 2 outa 10. I wish I had something nicer to say about this place. But. The north end being what it is I would suggest they up their game.

Not only do I go here weekly for a work lunch, but drive across the city to take the family on weekends. It is always fantastic and the ownership actually cares.
The portions are large, everything is tasty. You want a deluxe burger with a chicken burger on it? Not a problem! Half poutine half chili cheese fries? Done! Always fantastic veggie burgers.

Food has never been much of a problem. They’ve maintained Johns original recipe from back in the 80s. Sadly the problem was the unacceptable content they had playing on the public television. It shocked me that anyone would watch such filth let alone stream<br/>It in a public place with all walks of life present including children. Owners should be ashamed . We sure like coming here for a burger when we feel like a 'fat-boy-like' burger :) <br/>Husband and I ordered take out and ordered a deluxe burger each (pickles, onion, chili, lettuce, tomato and mayo) - the burger is pretty big and for the most part the bun held up all that goodness in there. <br/>With our deluxe burgers we ordered a small poutine, small chili cheese fries and an order of onion rings. A good sized portion for smalls and more than we could handle. Onion rings were crisp and tasty, chili cheese fries and the poutine were pretty good. <br/>

I was expecting more out of this place as it has such good reviews. Finally made it there to try it last night. While the fries were fantastic i was not impressed with the deluxe burger. The lettuce looked like it was old (very light green...yellowish). The bun fell apart after i had 2 bites. I couldn't eat the burger without a fork and knife as it was falling apart with each bite. The patty was huge and filling for a great price however it didn't have much flavor...Very plain. So i filled up on the fries. I may go back and try it again not any time soon.

Seriously the best burgers I have ever had!! I've tried many of the menu items and haven't found a single thing I didn't love. Portions are huge and decently priced, toppings on burgers/hot dogs are generous, staff is friendly. The banana milkshakes are amazing! Definitely worth checking out.

Excellent place to go in St. James especially since there's not very many old school burger joints in West Winnipeg. I really appreciate that they have a veggie burger option (not many do) and their poutine is delicious. The staff are always friendly and there doesn't seem to be a high turnover rate which speaks volumes.

This is my gold standard burger all others are compared to. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the quality and service has not changed. Great food, large portions and a reasonable price. I've had fat boys at George's, Red Top, Vj's, and many others, they are all good burgers, but nothing ever compares to Burger place. The meat to bun ratio is always perfect, the patty always covers the bun, which I can't say is the same for many other burger joints. The chili is certainly my fave of all other chili burger joints, and they're always generous on burger toppings.<br/><br/>The only caveat to the Burger Place is, it's not designed to be a dine-in joint, with only 3 tables, limited parking and a large customer base, orders take a bit of time so if you don't want a wait, make sure you call it in ahead of time.

Changed to Costco veggie burgers yuck!. The veggie burger used to be good when they first started selling them but now they are a huge let down I will not pay six plus dollars for a Costco veggie burger when u can buy an entire crappy box if my own fir three more dollars. Don't you know vegetarians know their veggie burgers well because of their lack of selection. Please change back to the old burgers!!!!

Greasy Burger Joint In a Good Way. I order from here to go as it has very little seating. Tiny and covered in Coca cola memorabilia as well as some local clippings and fun stuff to look at while you wait.<br/>When the family used to cook here it was better. The kids do the job okay but they dont care as much as the owners family would.<br/>Ridiculous portion sizes. Great burgers.

Well it's disorganized, the cash girl needs to improve her attitude, and needs to speak louder and smile, lol plus they don't do there jobs very well, I said no onions on my hotdog, got home and found onions on my food;( they need to pay attention. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it.

No-nonsense great burgers/fries. This is a burger joint of the old school. Great hand made burgers fried up fresh and fixed up the way you want. Great hand cut style fries too. Decor is very dated and small, the only flaw. But this is the place to get some fantastic take-out burgers and fries when you want good old fashioned burgers! I think I will stop on the way home today!

Don't be fooled by the hole in the wall appearance. We drove by, thinking we must be at the wrong place, but great things come in small packages! Double deluxe cheese burgers and a large order of chili cheese fries ( large enough for 3 or 4 people). Good homemade food. Best burgers ever! Mostly take out as there are only 12 seats inside.

Triple delux with cheese and bacon. Simply the top burger in Winnipeg. The taste and quality drives an endorphin rush throughout my senses. I actually enjoyed this burger so much I think I may have cried a little while devouring it.

I've been here so many times I think they know as soon as I place my order who it's for. The buns are bigger, to better hold in the sloppy yummy chili. Have never had an order messed up. The staff have always been friendly. The fries deliciously fresh cut and double fried. Gravy is also quite good but the poutine could use a different brand of cheese. Onion rings are ok but my son really likes them. I always get takeout and it's been ready every time when they said it would be. I recommend this place to all my friends. Great burgers for a reasonable price. Nuff said.

I heard about this place from a few people. Not being from Winnipeg, we were looking for a good burger and fries for a decent price. We tried a few others but thus far, this is our favorite. Sure the patty is thinner than I would make but the whole deluxe burger was excellent. I went again the next week!

Fantastic!. I can't say enough about the burgers at this place. Definitely my favourite chili style burger in the city. Full of flavour, good sized portions. It's not the largest place if you're wanting to eat in, and can be busy on weekends, but I've never had a bad burger from Burger Palace. The fries aren't bad either, but the real stars are the burgers.

Good chili.. Their burgers are mostly bun and the meat is pretty skinny, but their chili is excellent and their onion rings are delicious. Service can be slow (especially at lunch hour or dinner rush), so if you can call for takeout or have the time to waste it's best to go in their off hours.

Yum!. Stopped in for lunch for the first time the other day. The inside is quite small with only 3 tables. The service is very friendly and we only waited 5 minutes for our food. My bf got the cheese dog which came topped with beef chili, mustard, pickles, and onions. Similar to the Coney Island style of hotdog and very good. I had the deluxe hamburger which came topped with shredded lettuce, chili, mayo, tomato, pickles, and onions. It was huge! The bun was also quite large and by the time I finished the burger itself there was still a good half of bun left. The burger was very tasty albeit messy. My bf and I also shared a small order of poutine which was the perfect size for both of us, although we couldn't finish it after the monstrous size of the burgers. The poutine had shredded cheese which easily melted into a gooey delight with the thick tasty gravy on top. It was like 100x better than Smokes Poutinerie. For the hotdog, burger, and poutine it came to under $15 and we enjoyed every bite. Will definitely return.

Good price, good burgers. The burgers place appears a burger joint enriched with history as exemplified by the pictures on the walls. The seating area is quite limited (3-4 tables) and appropriately orders are placed at the counter.<br/>It can be quite busy at times so it is a good idea to pre-order if you are in a rush. <br/>The burgers are all homemade which is reflected in the flavor of the patty. The bun-to-meat ratio may seem a little tilted towards the bun, but was appropriate for the double deluxe burger with cheese. The fries are also homemade but unfortunately they were not that crispy and a bit on the soggy side. As a plus, they pour a generous helping of gravy on the fries. Even though the gravy was slightly on the salty side, I found it delicious and a perfect pairing to the fries.<br/>Recommended for burger enthusiasts

After hearing great reviews about this place, I decided to try it and the burgers were everything promised and more. The buns were thick, but overly so, just enough to hold your burger together and everything included, mayo, pickle, lettuce, etc complimented the burger perfectly. What holds it all together is the chili, and it is one of the best burger chilis I've ever had. The fries are crispy and just right. I've taken friends there and they've all loved it. Next time I must get the chili cheese fries.

This evening at around 18:30hrs I had my first burger at The Burger Place. I had the double deluxe with a small order of fries and the meal was delicious. Their burgers are from scratch and are done to perfection with just the right amount of toppings. The French fries are home style and are done properly. No breading found here! I highly recommend The Burger Place. Be prepared to take out as there is limited seating but be prepared for an excellent meal.

"Best Burger" ? NOT. I took in this place because of the reviews I read here. And I have to disagree with most of the reviews. The burgers are alright, but don't compare with VJs or Mrs. Mikes. There are two reasons they are down a notch. First, this place doesn't put enough chili on they're burgers, hence, all the comments below on ordering extra chili. But if you do order extra chili, I imagine it could work. But the big faux pas here is that i just can't tolerate in any burger, an over size bun, and the buns at this place are massive. I ordered the double cheeseburger, and even with two patties this burger looks like, all bun. One patty, and it doesn't even appear there is meat in it. The meat disappears completely, the bun enveloping all that's inside. I hate that. It's like eating a quarter of a loaf of bread. It makes the burger appear huge, but I'm not interested in a hambreader. It's not my preference, but if you like a lot of bread, try it.

I grew up just a few blocks away and went to school right across the street from The Burger Place. So it will always have a special place in my heart and it may cause me to look past any shortcomings on the menu. However I truly believe they make some of the best burgers I have ever tasted. In the quaint little restaurant you can find an array of burgers (beef or chicken), hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fries, onion rings, chilli and milkshakes. I would not recommend showing up at The Burger Place for a dine-in meal unless you know it will not
