This little gem came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. There were four of us at our table, one of them Korean, one from China, and my partner and I from rural Manitoba, and there was no food left in the Korean barbecue skillets when we were done. Our table ordered one chicken dish, one pork, one beef, and one tofu for me, the gluten free vegan. I was thrilled that they could accommodate my dietary issues and preferences. We will definitely be back. Fresh hearty food, beautifully presented. The wine was good too. Quaint and cozy little place. Good service. Check it out if you haven't already done so.
This is the best kept secret in south Winnipeg. The food, the service, the ambiance are great. Wonderful menu and lots of gluten free choices. I will certainly be back
Best spot for brunch!!! Delish food and amazing service!
Go to place for Brunch! Excellent food for both regular breakfast and special Korean dishes!!!
Brunch is great, dinner is great, dessert and drinks were great. Haven't had anything I don't like yet and the honey bread is a must have
This is my favourite restaurant in Winnipeg. The food is fantastic, I love how the girls are always nice, and the decoration is awesome!!! Ohhh and by the way, their takoyaki is marvelous!
So charming and so delicious. We treated Mom for lunch and we all agree we will be back.
One of my favourite locals! Have only ever had dinner as I've been too full to try the desserts that sound delish. Their homemade lemonade is a must!
Recommend the honey bread (w/caramel sauce & cinnamon)! Great coffee too :)
The food was delicious -- really well prepared! The restaurant is fun and kitschy. I left with two jars of the wonderful jam. I will be back.

Great place! I really enjoy the food every time I go.
the atmosphere was wonderful, very cozy but not cramped. the menu had a good spread of korean, japanese and western options and the food was delicious! i got the chicken apple sandwich and my friend got the korean bbq skillet; both were generously portioned for the price. my only complaint was that it appeared to be one man working the front and kitchen and several customers came in after us so he was busy with them. we would have liked to get dessert too, but after an hour of waiting for him to come back and check on us we decided to leave. i’d love to visit again so hopefully next time we’ll be able to try the bingsu like we wanted!
First time, I came the service was warm and very friendly, the room was cute, inviting and unique. Food was mediocre, we both ordered a breakfast plate. Nothing special, just a few combinations that didn't work. Two years later, I was convinced to try again. Service was so professional and attentive, and the ambience cool, just like before. This time, I ordered the salmon and rib skillets. Food was very well prepared, hot and flavourful. Best Korean ribs I've had. Friends loved their breakfast and wrap. Give this place a try - better than a chain restaurant.
Food was Okay. But I think, they’re a little under staff. They only have one staff for everything. I wonder if she’s the cook too! Lol hehehe but the food is okay. The dessert is great!
Had the beef bulging. Loved it. Generous portions and the flavour was incredible. Beef was so tender. The restaurant is so cute and well decorated. One wall has chalkboard paint where they have a lot of their menu. Love the tea cups and teapots that decorate the shelves. Con: service when i was there was super slow and disorganized. I understand some waitresses are
Better that others there. Ps. Skip the dishes was there 4 times while we were there. That would be a good option
I love it here! It's a cute little spot with a nice and unique variety. They also have delicious kimchi.
I'm so glad they're a part of the community!
Wow I love the lemon tree with its quirky decor and really delicious food that is reasonably priced. I had the spicy pork with rice and a Diet Coke in a colourful bottle that I'd never seen before and as a lunch special only cost $12.00 where else could you eat for this cheap. The staff are really nice and accommodating and I will definitely be back for more at my new favourite restaurant.
Came here after church with my wife and a friend. It's always nice to find a restaurant that is open early on Sundays. Restaurant was super quiet when we arrived, we were greeted promptly and given a choice of table to sit at. We noticed a very extensive tea selection written right on the wall along with several specials.
Wife ordered the spicy seafood pasta and I ordered the hamburger egg skillet. I found the combinations really interesting. My skillet had a side of stir fried Shanghai thick noodle, rice, French fries, Kimchi and a hamburger steak. It was a kaleidoscope of Chinese, Korean and western flavours. It all tasted alright, but something about it threw me off. I have to say the same for my wife's pasta. It was actually pasta in a spicy Korean haemul jigae broth. Alone, the broth was very flavourful, but something about having it with spaghetti is once again somewhat odd. Soup is simply too runny to coat spaghetti. The pasta was bland while eating and after eating the pasta, you're left with a very intense broth that is almost too intense on its own.
My wife and I will definitely come back for tea and dessert as well as come back for something not quite so exotic. I do believe the food is good, and will give them another try.
I happened upon Cafe Lemon Tree more by chance than design. Visiting a parishioner in the area I took a look around the strip mall as I waited for a bus. Cafe Lemon Tree looked intriguing so I made a note to visit the next time I was out that way. One of the first things you notice when you enter is the large collection of tea pots. They are stacked on wood shelves in behind and around the counter. It reminds me of a somewhat subdued version of Dwarf No Cachette. Another thing you notice is that there are novelty salt and pepper shakers on each table. On my first visit my shakers were a little disturbing as you can see in the picture below.
I was here yesterday with a friend and quite enjoyed the cutesy/kitschy atmosphere. It is definitely unique in that there are Korean dishes on the menu along with western baked goods, teas and waffles. My friend and I both had a salad as we are eating light, and I really liked the crispy salmon salad I had, and I liked that it had berries and a variety of lettuce and kale, and no cheese in sight. The salmon was almost like salmon skin, because I didn't taste meat, just the crispy batter and a burst of salmon flavour you usually get from the skin. The service was good and polite. I'll be back to try a waffle and some tea at some point on a cheat day for my diet.
Cute small place although food is good, nothing extra special. Honey bread is the bomb 😁 Service wise is pleasant. Portion sizes are okay too. Over all, I am satisfied.
OK Winnipeg !!!! The Honey Bread dessert. Wherever you live in the city, take a drive some evening for a coffee or tea and the Honey Bread dessert. The original is Carmel, they offer a chocolate version. In my opinion, this original Carmel Honey Bread dessert is AMAZING ! Think of a large piece of a toasted cinnamon bun cooked to perfection (crunchy on the outside soft on the inside) then cover it with the lightest and most flavourful whipped cream with drizzled Carmel. I contemplated trying it because I thought it might be too sweet and I am not a fan of "honey flavoured" desserts, but it is the PERFECT combo of sweet and crunchy. Can't say enough how good it is. Lovely cafe atmosphere. You will be pleased you made the drive - it is something quite different and surprisingly so great than anything else you will get anywhere in Winnipeg, that's for sure.
Amazing! Tasty food, great service, lovely atmosphere. Literally no complaints!!! The best!
Pics are dak-galbi, sides of ketchup and pickled cabbage, and BBQ skillet with bulgogi.
Our favourite neighbourhood place. The BBQ skillet is the best, arrives quickly and is piping hot. Service is excellent and personable - ask them anything about the menu. Decor is fun and the environment is warm and relaxing. Definitely a little gem tucked in St. Vital.
The teas in a favourite china cup is a nice addition to any meal, and the original honey bread is a must.
Cute little restaurant! We went here for the first time today (lunch), couldn't decide what to order (everything sounded so good). I had a seafood okonomiyaki, rice and iced cafe mocha---I was happy with everything! The person working was really friendly. I need to go back to try other dishes :)
Everything I've had there has been delicious. My favourite is their bulgogi bbq. All the bbq dishes are well served - tons of food, taste great.
I have been to a number of cafes like this in the city, and honestly, Cafe Lemon Tree is the best! The food is excellent, the prices are good and best of all the service is prompt and polite. Every time I go, I hear customers from around the area raving about how much they like it and how nice it is to have it close by.
The BBQ skillet is excellent and such a huge portion. Same goes for the okonomiyaki, it is definitely a full meal set alone!
The teas and drinks are all wonderful, I especially love the caramel mocha. I don't know if they still have the honey bread, but if they do, definitely try it! It's sooo good. The servers are so cute and sweet. It has something for everyone and a very relaxing atmosphere. The only thing I would change is the tables & chairs, but otherwise it's perfect!
Cafe Lemon Tree is a fabulous place in south St. Vital. You have to go there!
Cafe Lemon Tree has a calming and inviting demeanor. From the moment you walk in, you feel transported to a different world: Somewhere between a tea house and a gift shop. The decor is simple but appealing, with cute and unique cups, salt and pepper shakers, and knickknacks that remind you of a simpler time. (A few interesting Korean items are for sale.)
Our server was lovely! She was so sweet and kind. Clearly she received as much joy from helping us, as we did in experiencing her delightful personality.
The menu is varied, with skillets, tempura, wraps, salads, sandwiches, BBQ, and Korean specials. There is also a wide selection of coffees, from plain to decadent, in addition to waffles, ice-cream, and cheesecake desserts. Prices are reasonable.
We had Korean BBQ Skillets: The Dak-Galbi (chicken and veggies in a spicy pepper sauce), and the Tofu Steak. Both were beautifully presented in piping hot skillets, and served with fresh grilled pineapple, fries, kim-chi, and rice, in addition to dainty bowls of tasty pickled, and sweet cabbage.
Everything was fresh and delicious.
To top everything off, is a good luck tradition of writing your wishes on a lemon shaped paper which is then hung up either on a large garland that sweeps one side of the room, or on a tree near the door. When you write them down, your wishes will come true, so we did just that, and added ours to the growing number of bright, cheery papers that adorn the room.
We arrived with great anticipation. We were made to feel incredibly comfortable and welcome, and we left feeling uplifted and happy. Thank you Cafe Lemon Tree for making our whole experience at a delight.! :-)
We will be back.

If you look in the dictionary under "adorable," you'll find a picture of Cafe Lemon Tree. The staff are effusively welcoming, the decor is sweet, and the chicken teriyaki skillet is piping hot and full of flavour. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful - great for writing solo over a cup of coffee, meeting a friend for lunch, or having a relaxing date. The prices are very reasonable, and where can you find such variety: waffles, french fries, specialty tea, tempura? There's even something for my picky children. Lemon Tree is our family's go-to cafe.
Loved the waffle tower, Best Jap Chae EVER! and going back to try the Honey Cake, I hear it's awesome. Absolutely love this place and highly recommend it.
Our family's new favourite restaurant ! We love the cozy atmosphere and friendly workers. On our first visit I had a breakfast skillet, and on our second and third visits I tried a couple of Korean dishes. Everything was terrific. I'm usually not big on desserts but I especially enjoyed the honey bread. Prices are very reasonable. This is a true hidden gem that I highly recommend.
Went here before cheerleading practice yesterday. Great relaxing and cute place with good food. The server was so cute she reminded me of an anime character but I think she was korean. Anyways i'll be back for more
One of my new favourite places! I had the bugolgi skillet, honey bread, tried the mango shrimp salad, blueberry cheesecake, burger and egg skillet, breaded salmon salad, grapefruitade.. All delicious!! The 5 layer waffle could have been a little sweeter for me (personally) with a bit more fruit, and the vanilla latte was a lot stronger than I expected.. I still love the place though! The owners' daughter was also sweet and friendly and has a really interesting Korean-American accent.. Their lemon tree of wishes was definitely a cool feature. Will definitely be back to try out more on their menu.
Delicious food and a nice and quiet spot, will be back to try their desserts and more of the Korean menu! The lemon wishing tree was a nice touch too :)
Cafe LemonTree is a unique take on Korean food and for the most part, succeeds in doing so. While certainly areas to improve upon, the base cuisine is decidedly authentically Korean and should be on the radar for anyone looking for good Korean, especially if you are in the area or are tired of the usual offerings.
Okonomiyaki. Serves out in a Hot skillet, with choice of seafood or bacon!
Read about this place on this site & drove by it after work so decided to stop in for an early supper I was the only one there my server was very friendly. The inside of this place is strange but in a good way the different chairs at each table, the different nick nakes on the walls & figurine salt & pepper shakers might seem just slapped together but in my opinion is brilliant. I had the Dak Galbi which is chicken & rice cake with veg fried in a chili paste. It was spicy goodness I have never tried it before but loved it & now writing about it want it again.
Honey bread~~~. It's sooooooo delicious. It will be ma favorite desert~~
5 stars.. Everything was so good all you heard at our table was Mmmm! Mmmmm!
A little pricey.I wish they could lower their prices just a bit. Specialty coffee drinks need improvements.
Fantastic. My friends and I went here for lunch this morning and I would really recommend it. We ordered the Okonomiyaki, Skillet Dduk Boki and the original Honey Bread for dessert. The food was out quickly and was very good. Like others on this site said, the Honey Bread was awesome and its big enough to share on one order. Service was great too. They were kind enough to make something off menu for my friend's young son. That's a plus in my books. They have a pretty nice dessert section so I'll be sure to come back and try something out as an evening outing.
Dinner Skillet-Dak Galbi and La-Galbi with fresh lemonade. My fiancé and I went here last night for the first time and fell in love with it, between the cute, cozy decor, friendly, helpful service and delicious food, we WILL come back! I had the La-Galbi (short ribs) dinner skillet and everything was super tasty and my fiancé had the Dak-Galbi (spicy chicken) and it too was delish (if you do not have a high spice tolerance I'd avoid this dish). We shared one of their homemade lemonade (in a mason jar mug) and it was perfectly sweetened with just the right amount of lemon.
Can't wait to go back and try other menu items and their fancy coffees, teas and desserts!
Such a great atmosphere, great service and delicious food also very decent portions not too much. I love the decor as well. I had a vanilla latte which was decorated so nicely I was very impressed.
Korean goodness in St. Vital. Solid new family-operated restaurant in St. Vital, with a modest tea house feel.
We decided to stay for dinner once we looked over the menu and selected the Dak-Galbi and Bulgogi skillets. Each was fresh, looked great and tasted fantastic, just be careful if you do not like heat - the Dak-Galbi was spicy but sooo good.
For a treat at the end, we saved room for the Honey Bread (seriously, get the Honey Bread) and have now a new favourite place to stop at in St. Vital.
P.S. get the Honey Bread already.
I had good lunch. It was good time to try.
It was wonderful time at lemon tree
I was glad to have this pretty cafe near st.vital mall :)
