Review Dairy Delight - Winnipeg

I've eaten here twice, the first time ordering the Fat Boy and fries. The Fat Boy is one of the best in the city and the fries were very good as well. Portions are quite large and should satisfy the hungriest of people. The 2nd time I tried their DB Burger and a blueberry shake which were both great. The attached pics are of their DB Burger.

The family who owns the business, they always be so friendly and easy to communicate with. My friend and I went there so many times, we became their regular customers. They always make sure that our orders are correct and likes to give us the extras. They are aware that we are Deaf. Always loved to go there and greet them. I highly recommend that you should try the meals, its soooooo good and felt like eating at home!🥰

Been coming here for years! Enjoy coming here. Sometimes the burgers are to salty, but other than that the food is always very good, fresh, and hot. Eat there or to go. Very busy place. Only disappointment is charging for debit use. If they didn't it would be 5 stars.

BEST ice cream in Manitoba hands down. Fantastic authentic Greek food. Super friendly family owned restaurant. Chicken pita wrap and Greek salad is best I ever had !. Too bad we can't give more than 5 stars .

The fries are home cut and crispy and extra yummy. Top it up with some fantastic icecream. The staff is so nice. Feels like family.

This place is an absolute gem! I do want to state right off the bat no Credit Cards, and Debit cards are charged $0.35 fee. Besides that this place is great. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food takes the perfect amount of time. Enough to sit and start chatting, but not too much that you start looking around. I got a Fat Boy, Fries, and Ice Cream. All. Were. Delicious! Fat Boy had great chili with nice spices, kinda like Old El Paso Tex Mex, pristine lettuce, pickles, cheese, mayo, tomato, onion. Will for sure be back for the Burger. The fries were good, not delicious, I lied earlier. The ice cream was delicious though, and a very large portion, very impressed. Overall I ate too much but am extremely satisfied. Will be back next time I'm in town!

Ordered a Greek salad for home. They have one of the best in our area. And their burgers are delicious too.

Best food and ice cream in the whole city. Never disappointed, great people! The owner is a sweetheart!!! Must go UPDATE: There is a Greek burger now!! Go get one! , I hope this is a permanent addition to the menu , just when you think a place can't get any better.

ADORE THIS PLACE. Same fam running it as when it was the Downs Dairy Delight on Portage & Isbister in the 80s. Best fries in town, gravy is PHENOMENALLY beefy, burgers are super flavourful and don’t taste machine-y, chicken fingers are the GOOD ones with real actual meat, onion rings are ridiculous (in a good way). Huge portions, fantastic variety of hard AND soft ice cream, as well as a full selection of sundaes, shakes (two words: ROOT BEER. Enough said), better-than-blizzards, parfaits, splits, etc. this place is a gem. Keep up the amazing work, you guys!

The food is great and always fresh ! Can’t go wrong with the French Fries as they’re consistently delicious and you get more than your value for the price. Burgers are huge and tasty ! Just love this place !!!

It is always exciting when this place opens for the season (usually an indicator that summer is on it's way). They have a great selection of both frozen treats and diner classics (burgers, fries, pitas).  Love the poutine!

Oh. my. goodness. best burgers in the city. their poutine is Okay, regular fries are better. their chicken pita is pretty good and ice cream is pretty good too. we will definitely be back

Dairy Delight has been one of my family's staple summer burger joints for years. The value of the food in terms of quantity and quality is excellent for what you pay - usually. I was very disappointed this evening, when I went to pick-up an order of chicken fingers and fries with gravy on the side and an additional order of chicken fingers. When I arrived, I was informed of the cost (19.44) and inquired if it had been punched in individually as it would be cheaper to punch it in as the chicken fingers and fries meal with a side of gravy and an additional order of chicken fingers. The girl at the cash register was nice as they usually are, however she brushed it off and told me it was actually cheaper the way they punched it in. As that did not sound right, I verified all combinations of prices and went to show her that had they punched it in as the meal - it would have actually cost me only 16.00. When I was waiting to inquire, another woman who took the order told me they punched it in because that is what she understood on the phone. I asked her why it would not be a the meal, and she stated because we gave you more fries. I said that I did not care about the amount of fries, and asked even if that was the case, why was I charged $2.45 for a side of gravy when I ordered a fries & gravy except I did not want the fries to get soggy so I asked for the gravy on the side. She then told me they have separate prices for gravy on the fries and gravy on the side. I have been ordering this for years and have never encountered this. What made this experience even more disappointing was that a lady who had ordered a hot meal before me received a complimentary burger or food of some sort as a gesture of customer service when her order was keyed in wrong. In summary, if you are looking for a place for an awesome chili burger, some good fries etc... then Dairy Delight is a place for you. Just BE CAREFUL, because they will nickel and dime you wherever they can. Their customer service and math skills are lacking, and remember if you are ordering pick-up over the phone: be specific about whether or not you want them to punch the items in individually or as it is on the menu.

Highly recommended. Great burgers - feels like coming home everyone is so friendly. Don't even hesitate on this one - def go check it out!! Can't wait to go again when it's a bit nicer out so we can dine outside!!

This is where I go when I want a Fat-boy and fries with chili on the side. Actually, I will often just get fries with a side of chili because the portions are huge. Check before going in the winter because they do close for a period.

Fantastic "Greeks" style burgers and fries. The poutine was enormous and so delicious! Cheeseburger was awesome. Shakes were amazing. Definitely left full and totally satisfied.

This is some of the best soft serve in the city. Try the poutine!  Sooo good! The milkshakes are also incredibly awesome.  My favorite is root beer. The service is excellent and I'm always surprised at how busy it gets I still get my food relatively quickly.  The only downside is it does get pricey if you're ordering for your whole family and it is most definitely not "calorie wise" haha!  It's a great treat though. :-)

Like their burgers and fries. Might have to say I like it better than VJ's which has been a favorite of mine for a long time. If you are a burger fan you have to try Dairy Delight.

Went there for the first time today, the fries are absolutely delicious, best I've had. I tried the double hamburger, the patty was kinda dry but it was alright. Would definitely give a better rating once I try the other burgers

Great food and fantastic service. Dairy Delight is a place I've been going for years and have always had fantastic service. The staff are super friendly and the food is to die for! This my favorite place to eat!

I like da burgerz. Da burgerz was so delish i haz to go get mo. so i did. n it waz gud. it was all g no regrats.

Gutbomb. Surprised to be saying this, but the cheeseburger here disappointed me because it was too big. The huge patty overwhelmed the bun and cheese/chili/onion/pickle so that it kind of felt like you were eating a slab of salty meatloaf. I had onion rings with it which were ok, but for over $5 an order the cost was a bit excessive.

BEST SOFT SERVE. Hands down the best fat boys and soft serve anywhere in the City of Winnipeg. I'm a paramedic so with how much I eat out, I would know!

Leave the salad. Ordered the large Greek only to find its all iceberg lettuce and generous feta, and pieces of onion and tomato and a vinaigrette, but where are the olives? The fact boy is delicious as well their cheeseburgers. Well the family devoured the burgers but left the salad, felt disappointed for a place claiming to be Greek takeout I couldn't go wrong ordering a Greek salad, wrong!

Come hungry, leave full.. Always on the look out for new places to dine. Dairy Delight had great reviews, and I love a big juicy burger. My dining partner and I each ordered a burger, her the fat boy with the works and me the double cheeseburger with everything. I wasnt running totally on empty so I passed on the fries. It was a good thing too, because a single order of home style fries is enough to feed most small countries! The burgers were fantastic, the patties super flavourful and piping hot. The service was very efficient, and what I really noticed is how clean the place is. I could see into part of the kitchen and it appeared very neat and tidy. The place is very small with only 5 or 6 small tables, and there was a constant stream of diners coming in for take-out orders, and the staff seems to really know their customers, taking time to do abit of visiting with each one of them. It seems like a real "neighbourhood" diner, as if from a bygone era. If your hungry for a real juicy burger, give this place a try!

Fatboy & Fries. I tried this restaurant yesterday for the first time based on a few recommendations that it was a "good, traditional Greek-fatboy". The burger was good and the fries were phenomenal... but there are a few things I didn't like which takes this burger out of the running as my favourite. <br/><br/>1. I could taste the lemon pepper seasoning on the burger patty. I have a sensitive palette, and at times this is all I could taste. <br/>2. The pickles are too sour and cut weird. They are cut into chunks which make them roll out of your sandwich. I prefer flat-cut pickles that stay put and get into every bite.

Surprised!. I was told by a friend to try out Dairy Delight. Food turned out being excellent! The wait for our food was a little long but worth the wait. Next time I'll order ahead and take it home.

Yum. If you ever get a craving for chili fries, poutine, chicken souvlaki in a pita, Greek salad or a Fat Boy, this is the place to be. I have been coming here for years and it has been consistently fabulous! In fact the owners take a holiday in the winter and close for a couple months and I'm certain they are missed by more than just me. I cannot say enough about this little gem. Your visit is always appreciated and you are greeted with smile and delicious food. They do a lot of take out and there are only a few spots to sit indoors but you can always sit outside on the deck and enjoy. Best Greek fast food in town, you have to try it!

Best place for ice cream!!! Whenever we're biking in the area we always make a point of stopping for a cold treat. The burgers and fries are great too. Lots of flavour and loaded! I've had the Greek salad once before but wasn't too impressed (loads of iceberg lettuce isn't for me). Otherwise it's a great place.

Gyro sandwich. This restaurant is usually always excellent if you stick to what they do best salad fries burgers.<br/>I thought I might try the gyro.<br/>Dont go there.<br/>It is mystery meat certainly not slow roasted and peel off a slowly turning roaster that's for sure. Not impressed. It was fine but I spent over 12 bucks on a fat boy and the same pre-frozen onion rings that you can get anywhere. Onion rings for $5+? I expected a lot more.

Awesome.. I've been eating here frequently for a few years. Their burgers are incredible and their fries are also excellent. I've had most of their menu and nothing has been average (always excellent). Poutine is great and large, fries are always a large amount and chicken fingers are delicious. These days I typically always get cheese burger + fries.

Honest Food, Honest Prices. The food here is quite good for an ice-cream shop. We've never had the ice-cream, but the Fat Boy is always good, and the ceasar salad is very tasty. If you do get the salad, spend the extra $1 for a large, because you get about 3 times as much as a regular.<br/><br/>Service is always great, the young girls are smiley and friendly, and the elders in the kitchen always happy to see your face.<br/><br/>In a time when most restaurants are becoming more and more disappointing, these guys still care and are obviously owner-operated.

A Hidden Gem. My wife and I hit up this little hideaway while on a staycation in July. I can say that we loved it. We each had a cheeseburger, and given the reviews here, we shared an order of fries. Glad we did, as one order was more than enough for us to share. The mentioned items, two cokes and a shake was $22. Outstanding value for delicious food. try and see what $22 actually gets you at McDonalds.<br/>We have been back since, and enjoyed every visit. Friendly owners, great food and great value.

Legit burgers, and poutine. For the price, its absolutely amazing, extremely filling. In addition, service was fast, friendly and very approachable. Will be back

Everything is good!. Not much I can say about this place. Everything here is good! From their large portion burgers made with quality ground beef, to their soft serve ice cream, it's all just Mmmm! They can be pretty busy at times but the food is well worth the wait!

I like VJs and the Whip on Marion but the burgers at Dairy Delight are my favourite. Nice thick patty with lots of flavour and toppings. The pumpkin spice softserve in the Fall is to die for.

Don't bother!!. I have been here a few times to give it a fair chance as many of my friends say they like it.<br/>I honestly am not sure what they are talking about.<br/>The food is inconsistently cooked, sometime overdone, sometimes under.<br/>The prices are obscene for what you get. They charge meal prices for one item such as a burger or hot dog.<br/>The decor is plain and cheap, the staff weren't very friendly with no table service so what are the high prices for exactly?<br/>Limited menu, classic fatboy style burgers, sloppy and nothing special

My dad and I used to come here once a week for ice cream! Once a month or so we would grab a burger here too! Their burgers and huge and their fries come in a huge brown bag! The food excellent and the staff is super friendly! The best burger joint in the city!

Incredible!. A friend recommended that I try Dairy Delight and everything was great! I had the double cheeseburger, the girlfriend had the cheeseburger and we split an order of fries. Both burger were excellent and the order of fries was HUGE, enough for about 4 or 5 people.<br/><br/>This is truly a hidden gem, I will be recommending this place to all my friends!

Hidden Treasure!. Wow, I'm so glad we found this place - Great Fries, Great Burgers. The gyro wasn't as good as we had hoped but the Fries more than made up for it. We'll be back!

Great place!. This is one of the best places in the city to get a burger. For me this place is tied with Johnnys on Marion as my all time favorite burger. Fries are home made and great. Milkshakes are AMAZING. Chili fries are really good too. Love this place!

Best overall so far.. So far I've tried 4 well-beloved Burger places around town (Dairy Whip, Mrs. Mike's & Whistle Pig being the other 3) and so far Dairy Delight is tops. The fries are fresh, homemade, and large (unlike DW's thin, small portions or Mrs. Mike's frozen fries), and the burgers are fantastic (at par with DW & MM's, better than WPD). As well, overall I found Dairy Delight slightly more affordable than DW&MM.<br/><br/>I will be trying other joints around town, but so far; Dairy Delight is still the King of Winnipeg Burger joints.

Very environmentally friendly. I did enjoy Dairy Delight, the food and drinks there are gorgeous during my business trip there! Very good flavor. one thing i wana recommend is that why not use the green pack, such as sugarcane tableware, it is 100% biodegradable. i know the biggest manufacturer of this in China.

Perhaps the Best Winnipeg Burger. A clone of Mrs Mikes (there is family conection with the owners) but their execution is untouchable. In my opinion the Pantheon of Greek Burgers is Mrs Mikes, Dairy Whip and Dairy Delight in no particular order - Any of these three deliver an exceptional fresh homemade burger experience -

Did you drink last night?. Six of us from Minnesota travel to Winnipeg for a weekend away. After a night in downtown, we headed out to Dairy Delight because Urban Spoon promised us a 100% rating from 38 customers. Those 38 people shall be trusted - Dairy Delight serves up some excellent burgers - especially the Fat Boy. I took it with no onions. Two orders of fries (one with gravy, one plain) were enough for the table. We all topped it off with a milk shake made with fresh ice cream. This was the perfect lunch after you partied too much the night before meal. Folks in the States love a place called Five Guys. Dairy Delight would kick Five Guys out of town.

Burgers are hand made fresh every morning and it shows. Very delicious and filling, a great way to start an afternoon. I recommend the seasonal pumpkin flavoured soft ice cream, also homemade.

Great food for not much!. I checked out Dairy Delight on St Anne's Road the other day, I didn't know what to expect. I ordered a hamburger and fries. The hamburger was steaming hot, and one of the best burgers I've had in a while. That burger alone filled my appetite. The fries appeared to be homemade, they were hot, crispy and came in a paper bag, FULL in a paper bag, it was more than enough fries to share with a friend or two. I will definitely go back, great food, and for the price.. it beats the fast food chains!
