Went to check out this Winnipeg Classic burger spot. Ordered a Fatboy along with Fries & gravey and large soda. The Fatboy was very tasty, and messy. You will always need extra napkins for this one 👍🏻 The fries and gravey was not for me, they were shoestring fries and gravey was a little to runny for my choice. The price of the meal was expected. It has allot of free parking which is always a bonus. Its CASH only in this establishment and as it does have a few picnic tables for you to sit at outside, no dining in here, which also adds the nostalgia. The gentleman who took my order was very polite as well. I can total see why this burger spot has a loyal customer following.

Great fat boy burger! Thick moist patty, and many napkins needed makes it great! Would be 5 ⭐️’s but the fries in the poutine which have this claim, “Savoury home cut shoestring fries made to order”, were hard like they had been under the warmer and not fresh, making them disappointing. The poutine was much to small for over $8. Next time will try a shake, float or sundae.

They have a small menu, but everything on it is done to perfection. Delicious burgers, crispy fries, and yummy shakes. If you like greasy spoons, this is as good as it gets! Prices are a little higher then your average mom/pop shop, but well worth the value (Cash only unless you order online)

First time trying Dairi-Wip, really just wanted homemade fries and gravy...not gonna lie I was disappointed with the fries and the gravy tasted kind of weird, I think it was beef gravy? Not sure. But I was expecting thicker fries to hold up with the gravy. I got a double cheese burger, I should of added extra cheese as it needed it, I didn't get chili on it, not a fan of chili on the burger but I did ask for extra pickles which they added. Id come back again, it was decent.

Fat Boys + Poutine = amazing. I'm a repeat customer and they stay consistent. I'm not a big fan of fat boys but I can always go for one here. The poutine with the shoe cut fries made me do a happy dance. Don't worry, all that gravy is a good thing. There are still crispy fries down there. Order directly on their website!!! We didn't have to wait long and they will bring it to your vehicle.

Very polite & friendly staff, food was delicious. None of their entrees can be made gluten free/friendly. The staff confirmed that the all of their meat products have bread crumbs or other sources of gluten mixed in. Looking forward to going back in summer to try their ice cream.

Ordered a cheeseburger. I was served promptly, food was fresh, good temperature. I found however the food to lack seasoning, and it was dry. Didn't wow me at all. Little more sauce in that chili, fry the pattie a little more crisp, formulate a sauce or something. Burger was bland...

Great classic drive-in that you could easily take a walk to and sit at the picnic tables to eat. My burger was a but onion-y, but still yummy. Definitely a restaurant for meat lovers. The vanilla milkshake I had was heavenly, light and creamy and came easily through the straw without being runny.

The meat of the burgers were dry and there wasn’t allot of flavour to it. So many better burger joints that are better. The guy at the counter was cold mannered and slide my milkshake across the counter to me while turning around. Fries were eh.

My bf absolutely loves their chili cheese fries and burgers. He said its one of the best burgers hes ever had. But the huge downfall of this place is the horrible customer service. The guy working up front was very rude and the biggest prick. Came here couple of times as my bf loves the food, and we were disappointed with the service every time. The guy never smiles and slams your order on the counter. One time i asked for an extra bag and he just walked away, so the guy cooking at the back had to come give the bag. We left the place feeling disrespected. Just unbelievable service, guy was just miserable! I couldnt believe the owners of this place let a guy like that work up front.

The all-time best classic burger joint of Winnipeg. I've spent my 26 years on this earth trying just about every burger joint in the city from VJ's to the Red Top to the honourable mention: North Star Drive In. My dad took me here as a kid and it's still top. The fries are hands down the best in the city, very close to Kelekis', RIP. The fat boy is the burger to try here. Classic Greek style, with quartered pickles and freshly shredded lettuce and seasoned ground beef to die for. Its also fun to come here and watch the guy taking orders.

My friends and I went to get some ice cream at Dairi Wip and the service was beyond terrible. He was incredibly angry and rude to us and acted as though we were inconveniencing him by coming. I will most definitely not be going back, and will not be recommending this place to anyone I know based on the poor service and treatment. Huge disappointment!

I know a lot of people who rave about this place and I finally broke down and tried it out. It was pretty much what I expected...the fat boy was delicious and the fries were awesome! I really like the thinner type of fries and they were excellent here. The burger was good but I wouldn't say the best I've ever had. Service was great, very friendly. It's the kind of place that reminds me of being a kid.

Part of this is due to the fact that my St. Philip’s office is just a couple of blocks away from Mrs. Mike’s, whose King Burger I really like. Simply the best - Canadian wanderer. I have eaten burgers in cities clear across the country and nothing tops the Fatboy. The chili is the key for both the Fatboy and the chips and chili. It would not be good as a stand alone chili, but as a compliment it's amazing. Hands down the Fatboy is the best burger in the country, the fries are top shelf and the lime shake is the icing on the cake. The staff could use a little training on how to keep the customers happy while they're waiting, and for sure you're going to wait. Rest assured it's worth the wait.

In St. B and looking for burger and fires. This place is my childhood, and and my favorite summer time place after Mrs. Mike's. Sure Mrs. Mike's is number one hands down, but they aren't open year round or as late. Dairi-wip is fast, friendly staffed, huge portions and tasty food. The burgers very good big and messy as expected to be, and fries hot and fresh. You happen to be at the Marion Hotel or Teasers Burlesque, then you'd have to be a bit off your rocker to pass up this Drive-Inn dinner. You live in St.B and want an ice cream on a hot summer and you go to McDonalds then please check you brain, because clearly this is the place to go. I won't cross town for their ice creams, but you happen to be in the area then you have to stop in for one. You have friends from out of town that want a big burger and hot fries, and Mrs. Mike's happens to be closed, then your nest best bet is Dairi-Wip up the road on Marion Street.

Went here for the first time Saturday for dinner. After winning best burger in Winnipeg thought it was worth a try. Not that busy when we arrived but the guy working, possibly the owner was very unfriendly. Never being at a restaurant before you may have a question of two. My mother asked something about a burger and was answered with a snotty almost why would you ask response. From ordering to waiting we were given the impression that our service was not important like "how dare you order food at my restaurant" were extremely disgusted and contemplated walking out. After eating the burger it's good not AMAZING and even if it was the best burger is had I would never go back due to the terrible attitude we were given.

YouGottaEatHere. My God, I would do just about ANYTHING for some fries with chili, or a cheeseburger from this place! Have been stuck in Southern Ontario for 16 years now (Moved for a job) and cannot find one place that has even heard of chili on a burger! I grew up in St. B, and you can't beat Dairi-Wip, or Mikes for that matter. Hey, someone get me a job back in the Peg (seriously) and I can be in burger heaven again!!!

Good food, bring cash!. This place has been around forever. Cash only place! If you like a good Fatboy and fries and chillie, it's worth a trip. Real burger, loaded with stuff (napkins required). No indoor eating here, takeout or eat on the picknick bench provided. Box or bag? If your dining in your ride, ask for a box. The owners run this place with an iron glove. Don't expect any smiles from these guys, burgers are their business and pleasantries are secondary. Hey, they didn't even write down my 10 item order. no worries, they use their noggins to take your order and out of the dozens of times visited, no issues (I sure would not want this job). Good food, you get what you pay for. No ambiance to speak of, order and go. 3.5 out of 5 stars

Service is fantastic. The guys must have photgraphic memories here...they never write anything down...ever. My three little girls allways want me to take them here after their dance lessons because theystill think having a burger, fries and a shake with their Dad is a fun. They love the burgers and the fact that they get their meals so quickly. Way to go guys!!

I found it just average.... taking into account how popular it seems to be I don't get the attraction. The batter was nothing special on my fish and chips, fries were ok... have had better.... would try it again if someone lets me know what the wow factor is but till then I don't get it... it's just another fast food joint. Great Burgers!!!. We went to Dairi-Wip last night just before the fireworks and ordered 3 cheeseburgers. I have to say these burgers were FANTASTIC. Seriously, the best burgers in Winnipeg, way better than Mrs. Mike's. Even my 9-year old loved them and she hates burgers. The chili sauce on them is awesome. Don't skip it. (I hate spicy, but even I could handle it.) We also had a banana milkshake which was also excellent. It was also really nice to have good service at a fast food joint. The man working there (maybe the owner?) was very friendly and kept us both in a good mood! The hours were great too, as they were open past 10PM on Canada Day. Thanks for putting a great end to the search for the perfect burger!

I read these reviews and went all the way across the city with my hopes held high just to be let down. I got a milkshake, Small fries and a fat boy and it came to $15!! So that lead my to think it must be really good then. Well the fries were best described as cheap, as well as the milkshake. So I had both of those first and went onto the burger which is their main burger.. It was dripping grease by the time I got to it and just tasted like cheap taco meat really. I will never ever ever go back there again. I hope this isn't what Winnipeg sets their bar to for burgers or they are need to get out more.

Best burger+fries combo. The burgers here are excellent, and the fries, the FRIES! They are beyond anything, they are the small shoestring variety- but way overpriced for how many you receive. The milkshakes here are darn good also.

I find the service here awesome. Prompt and clear. For $17.75 I get dbl fatboy chocolate milkshake, and chilli fries. To re-iterate what others have said the burgers and milkshake are divine. The fresh hot french fries are of the shoestring variety, my favorite. I take 2 buses to get here and I live within walking distance of two other burger spots.

Tastes great, but is it worth the runs?. No one can dispute that their burgers taste SUPER good. I used to go here all the time and get either a fat boy or a double cheese burger. The reason I quit going was because I realized that every time I ate there, I was guaranteed to get the runs the following day. The last time I ate from Dairi-Wip, I didn't even make it an hour before I was running for the toilet. And another thing I feel I should mention is their complete lack of manners. I understand they are busy, but would it kill them to smile, say hello/thank you? They can't even be bothered to hand your change back to you, they throw it on the counter and turn around. Do yourself a favor and go to Mrs. Mike's on Tache. The burgers taste better, you won't be running for the toilet after eat their food, and they appreciate your business enough to be nice to their customers.

Ah, the Dairi-Wip. I haven't had any food from this place for close to 30 years, but these recent reviews make me think that nothing's changed. We lived about 1 block away, and after my Dad would spend an evening at the Marion Hotel next door, he'd bring us home some food from "The Greeks'" as we called it. Crazy delicious burgers with chili, fantastic fries, chili-dogs. The stuff of childhood legend. The soft ice-cream was great too. Now I've gotta go back and check it out. Nostalgia and cholesterol just go together.

Best Chili Burgers ever!. Retired to Vancouver Island in 2005 and, of all the things we miss about Manitoba, my husband misses the Dairi-Wip's chili burgers and chips with chili more than anything! We keep trying to find a comparable substitute here, but there simply isn't one! : (( I really miss the Dairi-Wip milkshake too. They were the best! My husband says, if we ever win the lottery, he's going to bring the Dairi-Wip to Vancouver Island! Now you know how much we miss those chili burgers!!

Great burgers. - cheated last week , after dropping the daughter off at boxing booted it over to St. Boni to grab at a memory from a few (or more) years past. Kennedy brothers still on the wall, cash only, and burgers to die for. If it wasn't for the increase in prices you would swear time stands still when you open that door. Enjoyed the take out, only down side was getting busted when had to pick daughter up after boxing, at least her first comment was "what smells so good", told her she would have to wait after ringette season to find out.

Tasty Meat...CASH ONLY. Dairi wip has tasty Burgers for a reasonable price (fat Boy) the meat has some good seasoning, fast service. Good fries. No drink (picked up the dollar drinks at Mcds...only a dollar all summer any size.) A few benches to eat on outside but not much of a scenery, best to eat at a park or home. Try this place out. Remember CASH ONLY....I think alot of people get dissapointed when finding out they only accept cash.

So bad and so good.... OK, this place is a ticking time bomb of blocked artiries and heart attacks, but who cares! Going to watch the counter staff is worth the trip itself, how they keep the orders strait, I am not sure. The fries are yummy! The hot dogs are yummy! The chili sauce is yummy! The shakes are yummy! What a guilty pleasure! A person would have to jog for a week to work it off the guilt. But who cares when you are snarffling down a chili dog and a shake, life is good.

Given that I hav lived in Winnipeg virtually my entire life, and I am partial to a good burger from time to time,it's pretty astounding this is the first time chowing down at dairi-wip. Just a parking lot kiosk, no seating. Service is efficient but can get stretched thin when they are busy. No plastic. Cash only. Prices include taxes(I wonder if they pay any...). But on to the burgers. Trad winnipeg style with chili,mustard,pickles and raw onions. All very satisfactory and a good sesame seed bun. I don't much go for fat boys, but they seemed VERY popular in my observations while waiting for my food. Burgers had that nice slightly crunchy exterior. Fries were good, but not amazing. VJ's doesn't have anything to worry about on that front. Overall pretty satisfying.These guys can hold their own,and have for many years which is telling given we are a city with an impressive number of really good burger joints.

Great food, iron glove service. Recommend: Fatboy, fries and chilly Bring cash, this place does not take any other tender. Pluses, the food is great. All prices are rounded off with tax so no counting pennies. Not necessarily the greatest portions but it has that classic taste of the good old days. Now, these guys who run this place are pretty on the ball. No paper order taking, it is all done by memory. They also bean count things like pepper and napkins. Napkins are strategically placed behind the glass to discourage heavy pulling. Eating in the car or on the picknick table outside, you want the "in a box".

Excellent Drive In Burgers. Nothing fancy here, just good food. Dairi-Wip is a take out only place. It is open seasonally. There are some benches outside of the kiosk to sit, but for the most part, you are eating in your car. The burgers are excellent. The seasoning that they add to the meat is what sets them apart from most places. The bun is always fresh. The fries are amongst the best in the city. I like my fries thin and crunchy and these surely fit the bill. Ice cream is an option, but I have always been too full to try dessert, so I can't comment on it. Service is fairly quick. They aren't overly friendly, but they are far from rude. I have no problem with the way the workers conduct themselves. I don't live in the area, but I will make a couple of trips per year just to sample the burgers and fries.

I don't get to the 'Peg often these days, but when I do, one of the things that I MUST have immediately is a burger with that thick, pungent chili that the best burger joints in Winnipeg slather on burgers with such aplomb. We just happened upon the Dairi-Wip, it's about a block from where our daughter now lives....in the distinct society of St. Boniface. The place was immaculate. The service started out surly, and ended up friendly. I avoided the "Fatboy", wanting no distractions from the essential burger. It was the best cheeseburger that I've eaten in at least a decade.....maybe the best ever. Homemade patty, (natch), outstanding chili in the proper proportion, and a nice soft, fresh bun. The fresh crunchy onions, pickle and mustard work so very well with the chili and cheese....this is to me the iconic Winnipeg burger, and no city serves better burgers. Full marks.

Good Fatboy, Great Fries. As a lover of cheeseburgers it's taken me longer to get to the Dairi-Wip then I would've liked. But I'm glad I did good tasting burgers and hot dogs on fresh buns with chili and onions. The fries are thin and crispy just the way I like them. Not the best fatboy I've had but definitely far from the worst. The food was some of the quickest I ever experienced from a drive in restaurant.

Cheese Burger Please. Yep this is my to pick for best cheese burger in the peg hands down! I try them all, the whistle pig, Vj's, super-boys, Ms Mikes... All descent But the clear winner is the Dairy whip! It's home made with seasoning mix and the meat is browned to the perfect caramelization . They are made fresh and are huge! I once got crazy and had the double,,,You better be hungry to have that bad boy! Dairy delight on St. Annes is the next best thing.

What did matter however, is how freakin' good my fish and chips were. The fish (which I'm thinking was pickerel because it was so buttery and awesome) was fantastic and just the right about of fish and grease. It came on a bed of fries, which were phenomenal and so good they didn't require ketchup. They were somewhere between a shoe-string fry and a normal-sized fry.

....if you’re highly gluten intolerant, or in an induction phase of your low carb lifestyle, you may wish to take a pass on this place. For starters, I suspect that their beef patties contain at least a little bit of bread crumbs. I am not sure if the chili contains any sugar, corn, or wheat products but I suspect there’s at least a little bit.
