We went for lunch this past Saturday. I have to admit without some positive reviews from friends on facebook we probably would never of thought to eat here. My better half loves fish and chips and I love clubhouse sandwiches. Her fish was flaky and moist inside and golden brown outside (perfiect!) My clubhouse was in the top 3 I have had in Winnipeg (excellent!) We both had hand cut fries and homemade coleslaw - both were great. I just can't understand how they can make money?! The meals were far greater value than what was charged! Our server was extremely pleasant and professional.
The menu and food remind me of the old Jim's Fish & Chips by the Viscount. We will be back.

I've been wanting seafood so bad lately & this definitely fulfilled my wishes. SO tasty & big portions (can't wait to have the rest for dinner tonight haha). My husband and I went during a calm time of day; we really enjoyed the atmosphere & service (the young waitresses were kind & friendly). Highly recommend this restaurant!
Fabulous meal... fish was delish, not greasy, and homemade fries - yum! Large portions, great prices, excellent service. The sticky toffee pudding is enough for two and worth every calorie!
I had lunch with some friends here this week and it was great! Service was very good and food was excellent. Incredible value in the lunch specials, although the entire menu seemed extremely reasonable. Several in my group had the lunch special two piece cod which was delicious and super filling. The coleslaw is excellent and the fries are awesome. It also included soup! Three to choose from and they all looked yummy. The restaurant itself is far from fancy but the food and service are great.
Great place for fish and chips. I wouldn't recommend the battered mushrooms; unless you like paying $9 for canned mushrooms. This is my only complaint. Will definitely come back. The captains plate was only $18 for 8 pieces of shrimp, 2 huge pieces of fish, coleslaw, and fries. Can't wait to come back and get something else on the menu.
Enjoyed the fish, potato wedges and coleslaw. Tartar seems housemade and was tangy and delicious. Portions were quite small for the prices and fish batter was a bit on the heavy side. We would not call it best fish and chips in the city, but worth a try.
Another great find! Cozy atmosphere with delicious food. The service was wonderful. I can't wait to go back. The shrimp was on but the fish and chips were wonderful.
My friend Girdon from Hamilton and I had dinner here on Friday September 30, 2016. Delicious and speedy friendly service from the young waiter who gave exceptional service. We had the dinner special which was the Caprains Platter.... One piece of fish..we chose halibut and we chose potato wedges so tasty and coleslaw and seafood chowder and 6 good sized dattered shrimp all for $ 16.99 plus tax and we also each had a Fort Garry Dark Ale...perfect with fish and chips. And enjoyed a leisurely visit over our beer. Best seafood in Winnipeg at a decent price and lunch fush meals around thev$ 11 mark plus tax...large servings at decent price and home made. And definitely try their home made carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
Love the displays and decor. The food was served fairly quickly. Portions were more than enough and the fish was sooooo tasty. Nice crispy batter. I had cod and halibut. Shrimp were huge!
Delicious! Best fish and chips I've ever had. Super crispy and flaky on the inside. The server was really nice and overall it was a great experience.
We had the haddock, and it was delicious. Place could use an update, but overall it was good. Shoestring fries with dinner, and the onion rings were good. The seafood chowder had more potato then anything, but still tasted good. The waitress was great, wish I got her name.
Been going here since they opened,always enjoy the food best fish and chips in Winnipeg,and I'm from England so no what I am talking about,all my family enjoy the food,just wish they would bring the lunch buffet back on Fridays,the prices are very reasonable,service great,waitress's very polite,so relaxing in the restaurant
