Stopped here for a quick bite yesterday and was very satisfied. I had some sort of breakfast square, it was full of vegetables and eggs and it was so delicious and filling. I also had a bowl of vegetable barley soup and it was excellent as well. I know there are many interesting places to eat at the Forks but for a healthy snack this place is great.
Freshly baked cookies and cinnamons. A bit pricey but they are all good and delicious. Nice friendly staff and though there was a big line up the service was still fast. I'll be back to try their fresh bread.
All I can say is CINNAMON BUNS! My father-in-law calls them "free range" cinnamon buns and all I can think about is them roaming around in a field becoming grass fed. Wonderful bakery, but be prepared to pay a little extra.
You can't go wrong. Tall Grass is consistently healthy, delicious, and well priced. Their cookies are delicious if slightly dry, their Folk Fest cookie is the best with tons of chew and just a hint of chocolate. Their sandwiches are delicious (just be careful when choosing one as they aren't always well marked) and I never feel bad eating one. They are packaged in halves so you can take two different halves to make a whole sandwich if you'd like to try something different.
The whole wheat cinnamon buns are always a treat. Anything you get there is tasty and you never feel bad after eating it because you can taste the freshness and heartiness in every bite.
Will always return.
Perfect Bakery. Great breads, dips, desserts, sandwiches and buns of all varieties. Try the Vegetable Bread Pudding for an energizing meal. Always fresh, always pleasant.
Excellent Soups & Sandwiches. Tall Grass Prairie at the Forks has REALLY delicious pre-made sandwiches. They are a bit pricey (1/2 sandwich for around $3 - $4), but they are made with TGP's delicious bread and lots of good fillings. I love the jalapeno cheese and veggie sandwich - loads of sliced veggies with thick slices of spicy cheese. I usually order a half sandwich and bowl of soup and feel great after eating such a healthy meal. The soup is always different - sometimes it's lentil or other times it's split pea. But each time, it is always good!
It is my belief that TGP has THE BEST brownies in the city. They are fudgey and dense and iced with a yummy frosting. I also love the cinnamon buns. The bread is delicious - I buy it to take home and it's good toasted with a little butter or made into sandwiches.
YUM!. Honestly, I've never tried something here that I HAVEN'T liked.... My favourite would have to be their cinnamon buns which are super cinnamon-y and have a distinct taste which I found out is the whole-wheat dough. Their Morning Glory muffins are also fantastic, and their pre-made feta sandwichs are fabulous for a quick lunch. They also have the best cookie I've ever had (the Folk Festival) but since I found the recipe, I've found it hard to shell out for one ;) Everything here tastes amazing and is probably amazing for you in comparison to the other fast-food options The Forks offers, I would highly recommend it!
Also, if you're a foodie with a special allergy/ dietary issue like vegetarian or vegan, this is the place for you. They have a TON of veg options, and a few vegan as well. Other baked goods, like the famed Morning Glory muffins are also made using spelt (an ancient grain without gluten) so you can pretty much find anything for anyone at this place!
Update Jan 2017: still a great place for baked goods! there's always a line up here as people buy up their breads, croissants and their famous cinnamon buns. Their croissants (plain, cheese and chocolate) are still tops in the city - they have a real French baker that they've brought in the business several years ago. The exterior is flakey and oh so buttery. The cinnamon buns are famous for a reason and even better when you get one straight out of the oven. Their sandwiches are delicious as well.

Review from Jan 2012:
Yummy Croissants!. Mmmmmmm I love their buttery, flaky croissants here! Delicious breads and pastries here! They also serve up half sandwiches to-go for about $2.90 - lots of vegetarian choices and egg salad as well. There are some small containers of orzo salads and quinoa as well. Daily soup specials are quite good. For lunch, I can easily grab a half sandwich, soup and a pastry item for just under $10. All their stuff is made from scratch so well worth it.
Compared to the other food court options at the Forks, this one definitely offers up healthier options.

Towards the end of the day, they start to clear out their excess baked goods. I bought six delicious cinnamon buns for four dollars, and used them to make Sunday morning French toast the next day. FABULOUS.
Tasty & friendly. The staff's always super friendly. I love their breads and goodies - but if you ever get a chance to try it, jump on their vegetable bread pudding! It's one of the best things I've ever eaten. I could live off of it. I found out it's usually served on Sat & Sun mornings. :)
If you go to the Forks , this bakery is a must try place. Once you go there, definitely order their cinnamon bun because it is one of the most classic spot-on cinnamon bun you will have. I usually will bring it home and toast the cinnamon bun, and it is a real special treat.
This bakery is too good and they have variety of Bread, Croissants, and Coffee. Very nice place for Breakfast. Delicious food. Must visit place in Winnipeg.
Famous for the bakery and wonderful aromas at the forks market! Their canned goods, local preserves and deli style ready-made salads and meals are a must try as well!
The cinnamon buns are definitely the item to try here. I also recommend any of the croissants, and other pastries, as well as the sandwiches
Great place, worth visiting for items made from grains produced locally. Cinnamon bun is yummy and speciality.
From distance one can make out from fragrance.
Staff very courteous, ready to help you, give you all information about items.
In forks shopping Center many shops of unique items. This shop is gem of Manitoba.
I always get a fresh cinnamon bun from this bakery when visiting Winnipeg. It has been consistent quality for years and years. The shop front is very tidy and the staff friendly.
I love Tall Grass Prairie. I prefer the location in Wolseley, but this site is pretty good too. They have a good selection of breads, some of which are seasonal or are baked only on certain days (the potato bread is especially good when it is available). Tall Grass Prairie also has great brownies and cookies (especially the Folk Fest cookie). Their fruit pies are to die for – pricey but definitely worth it. Around thanksgiving, you can see bakers taking roasted pumpkins out of the oven as they scoop out the insides to make their next batch of pumpkins pies. You have to pay a deposit for any pie plates, but you can return it later for a refund. They also have a number of delicious cakes – chocolate with buttercream icing, carrot cake, lemon poppyseed cake, etc. I think all of their ingredients are natural, so the flavours really hit your palate.
Got a delicious cheddar and tomato scone as well a Bannock with wild rice sandwich with butter and jam. Both were so tasty and a fantastic start to the day. Went well with the chai latte from Fools and Horses
