Review Enoteca - Winnipeg

Luna D. K.
Really great experience with beautiful atmosphere and delicious food with interesting flavor profiles—the tartar is a departure from what one would usually expect, but was very delicious. I could tell that they use quality ingredients to make their food. It is a small plating, share you food kind of place and the serving portions are relatively small and $$$. However my overall experience was 100% I would go back again. They have a good selection of wines and drinks but mostly wine focused. Food came out relatively fast, and the service was great staff were very friendly. They're located at the end of Corydon, closer to Kenneston. Parking is very easy as they have their own parking lot. Make sure to make reservation ahead of time, It's a very small restaurant with around 10 small tables and they are very popular!

We had an amazing experience here. Our waitress was really nice and the vibe is very “classic.” The food was good and the price is reasonable. You should make a reservation since there is an limited amount of tables. Overall a good place for a date night.

Very pleasant dining experience. Recommended by a friend, but never had the chance to go. It happened to be a friend's birthday and I made an online reservation; overall, the meal is very delicate, the amount of dishes is slightly small, maybe one person needs to order 1-2 dishes; the recommended dishes include roasted cauliflower as an appetizer, and pasta 2 are ok; if If it is meat, pork belly and duck breast are recommended;

My partner and I went to Enoteca for the first time last night to celebrate our anniversary. The food, wine, and service were exceptional (thanks Tori!). We loved the tapas style and enjoyed every dish that we ordered. I would eat here again in a heartbeat!

Wow! This is one of my favourite restaurants! The food was divine, sweetbreads, pork belly, duck breast and you have to try the cauliflower with leeks, almonds, brown butter and Gruyère ! Such an incredible food 👍🏻

We went with a group of 10. I will preface that the food was wonderful, however the service and experience was less than stellar. When we arrived for our reservation, our table was not completely ready, 3/4 was ready and there were two people sitting at the table that would be adjoining. The person that greeted us said we could certianly sit while we wait, but stood next to the couple sitting at the table and said were just waiting for 'them' to leave. I was embarrassed for the strangers. When our party all arrived we were chatting and the server came by to get drinks and tell us the special menu items. She told us they only serve wine and scotches. A few of us were dissapointed as we don't drink wine or scotches. When the server dropped off the 'scotch' list, we noticed several other items available. The server also stood on one side of the long table. She was yelling down to take drink orders. We had to ask her to come to our end of the table so we could hear and have a conversation with her. She then asked us all to be quiet so she could repeat the drink orders back to us. She rattled off multiples of drinks. For example, two old fashions, three beers, one Sav blanc.. etc. How would we know how many beers were ordered as a table? I ordered one. I did not know that there were three or seven ordered for the entire table. Not our place to manage that. Drinks came and we ordered food. When one of the people at the table asked if there were any specials, we got back "Well as I said earlier...". She did have to tell us the two specials again. We are a bunch of degenerates. She told us it is recommended that the table orders 15ish dishes to share. We all told her we would be ordering separately / as couples. This did not go over well. Maybe that's tough to manage for such a large table. The impression we had was this restaurant is clearly not meant for large parties. She told us that it could happen, but there is no way to tell how the dishes would come out, about 4 at a time. Food started to arrive. My end of the table received half of our order, while two people at the other end received EVERYTHING once the rest of us were all done eating. We were warned. The server was great at explaining the items being delivered and it's accompaniments. That was nice. I had ordered the tuna special. She came out and asked the table who ordered the tuna dish. As it was 'who wants to be served first' game, Russian roulette of service, I spoke up and said I had ordered the tuna special. It was an order of the regular menu tuna. No one at the table had ordered that. The people who got served last had the duck, they said it was not cooked fully. The server took it back and had it refired for them. My husband said he felt his chicken was a tad pink. We did have to ask for dishes to be cleared. Table was getting cluttered. The server thought my husband had asked her to leave the extra, empty wine glasses. When she brought me a beer, she didn't tilt the glass and poured it straight upside down. Leaving the glass half filled with foam. (First world problems) Food was excellent overall. Food portions are small (yes, it is Tapas, I understand). Ranging from approximately $16 - $25 per dish. A beer is $7 and different sizes of wine glasses ranging in prices. Those who ordered dessert enjoyed it. When bills came out she told us that they have an old system and she was going to have to recite everyone's orders back for clarity as it is all hand written. Not a problem. While doing this we realized that the birthday girl had missed an entire dish. Never got served. Checks were mostly accurate. The servers attitude and approach was crumby throughout the entire evening. People have bad days, and I get it. Sometimes it is hard to fake it. Its unfortunate that it collided with us on this day. Sadly, it does mean we will not return.

Ordered takeout for a birthday. The food was very good. The only dish that we didn’t like was the duck, which was very bland and didn’t look particularly attractive either. The cauliflower is amazing, the pork belly which everyone seems to like if you read the reviews is just excellent even if you don’t think you like pork. The chocolate tart and chèvre cheesecake are both a must.
Sima Chowdhury
The people beside me told me that the dish I chose looked as good as it tasted. Just like photo it was pretty average. Dessert was too ugly to photograph, but the goat cheese cheesecake was actually pretty good. Maybe served on a plate instead of a bowl with some mint garnish would have helped. The orange caramel sauce and nuts were excellent. I could deal with no cocktails, but no tea? Seriously?
David Wall
14 dishes eaten. Hanger Steak, Cauliflower, Swimmer Crab delicious. The rest tarnished by small portion size, lack of flavour and an arachnid in the evenings special. Topping this was the arrogant server. His condescending attitude was not welcoming from entering the establishment to being repeatedly asked to leave because we were nearing our 2.5hr allotted eating time. Reminiscent of a scene from 'Eat The Rich' the hype is more succulent than the food!

Absolutely amazing! We have been here before and this was our 2nd time around! Food and service was spectacular! Great recommendations on food and wine and just overall great service. Will definitely be back soon!
Tamara Wells
This was the best meal I have had in Winnipeg; we did not have one mediocre plate, all were exceptional. The service was timely and attentive and Jesse knows his wine that weblog course indulged in! We will be back.
Louis St-Cyr
Definitely on my top 5 list! Fantastic food and great service

Flavour pairings are spectacular! Exceptional service!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Wonderful service, fabulous food. Highly recommend for a great time!

Top food!! Pretty to look at and very very tasty!

I loved it there. The beef tar tar was amazing. I would definitely recommend going there if you like sharing tapas.
Gord Boultbee
We were guests of KWV wine and the restaurant was our third stop for the final 4 courses of the dinner. They did a great job that was excellent.
Jeff Martel
As usual, the Internet is flooded with whiners. We literally just finished here, the plates were fantastic, service was just fine. The beef tartare was the best I have ever had anywhere. Prawns, Salumi, Duck, all excellent. Only thing we weren't a fan of was the scallops, but that's just a personal taste thing. Would definitely enjoy again.
Ben Hunter
Phenomenal experience, dishes were well paced, and the flavors were out of his world. I will definitely be back and will spread the word. 10/10.
Nathaly Roy
Loved every bit of it. Special seats 8 and 9. Great attention from the staff! Will return!

approached with no reso to a packed house last night. was met at the door by a gentlemen who told me that the wait would be about 45 minutes. no problem. i waited for my friend who met me about 1/2 hour later. i came back in and there was a space for 2 at the bar top. my timing was perfect. ordered a bottle of Washington Syrah: solid. i have a nut allergy but the server said; within reason; nuts may be omitted. i'm not "that guy" to compromise the integrity of a dish by omission but thank you to the server and the chef for their consideration. i had short ribs: tender, juicy, saucy, well flavoured and the cremini mushroom dish with the toasted chick peas (i think). so delicious. perfect place to share a few late evening dishes before a night out. slightly loud and a tad bright but those were non-issues!! thank you for an excellent experience!!

My taste buds went on a magic carpet ride, I could not of been more impressed with the whole experience. From the food to the service to the vibe in the restaurant, Enoteca has it all going on. This place is an absolute home run!
Craig Harris
we made reservations by telephone . . . the person with whom we spoke confirmed our date and time, and my name . . . we took a taxi to the restaurant . . . when we arrived at the restaurant, the host said they had no record of our reservation . . . we showed them the record of the telephone call on my cellphone . . . they refused to provide any sort of accommodation, even our taxi fare back to our hotel . . .
Margaret Mary Cabral Camara
Terrible experience. The cook (owner) is a bad tempered wanna be..

It was ssssooo amazing ! Congrats to Scott And his team for such an amazing evening.

I think I found a new favourite spot ! Very friendly servers. Absolutely delicious food. I tried foie gras for the first time and Im so happy I did. My favourite dish was the artichoke one. I think i could eat that one every day for the rest of my life! Also a grounding atmosphere. Love !
Good atmosphere, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, will return when the menu rotates.
Prices are high, but you get what you pay for.

Went to Enoteca over the holidays with my husband. The beef tartare was recommended and was so delicious and buttery. Service and atmosphere was great but the overall menu was pricey.
Mike
Food and service is second to none. Great food isn’t cheap and it shouldn’t be the way Enoteca delivers it. The kitchen and serving staff is always on point to make your visit as good as it can be. Well done.
Food + Ambiance
A culinary experience!

The dishes are creatively put together and have a detailed fresh look. However the flavours are lacking and don't particularly come together in a magnificent way. It looks better than it tastes. The place itself has a minimalist vibe. I will be back, an intriguing place with potential.

Came here with family for dinner. This place is busy on weekend evenings so make sure to get a reservation if you plan on giving this place a try.

This place is a wine bar and tasting menu restaurant. Dishes are small and you're expected to share them too! The problem with restaurants like this, is value. If you expect this place to fill you up and you're going through the 2-3 glasses of wine for the evening, you're looking at $100 a head. Value is subjective, but quantity aside, Enoteca is giving quality and expensive ingredients. Products like caviar, Meyer lemons, ahi tuna, foie gras, and cave aged gruyere are expensive and hard to come by and all used on the menu.

Decor of the restaurant is modern and minimalist. Service was attentive throughout the evening and the waiter seemed knowledgeable with the wine and menu and the pairings available. In fact, many of the ingredients used are quite exotic and he explained them very well. An example is the Nagano pork belly (pork belly braised Japanese style) served with romesco sauce (a nut based sauce from Northern Spain commonly served with calcot). This is a very interesting combination and is very tasty!

As for the food, some items were phenomenal, like the sable fish and the pork belly. Unfortunately there was the one miss on our last visit which was the sinewy duck breast. All in all, the food here is indeed flavourful and a real treat for the senses! The chef is able to procure and fuse rare/exotic ingredients together to generate flavours that are not common to come by. Definitely a good culinary experience if you are able to afford it.

My SO and I came here for the very first time last night. The restaurant serves tapas so we ordered a few dishes to try between the two of us. The salmon special that we had was very good! It was certainly different but in a good way. The lamb sago that we had was good too, however,, we would appreciate it more if the lamb was less gamy.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. The service was excellent and the pairing of the dishes was very unique, which we appreciated very much. However, just a heads up, be prepared to spend if you decided to come here for a full meal because tapas don't come cheap! We would totally come back again just to try out different items at our next visit as Enoteca changes their menu periodically.

A superb evening! Service was special. Food choices were strikingly presented and very tasty. The beet dish took us to a whole new level of gourmet experience!
Mmmmfood
Ate here for our anniversary. My wife and i shared 6 dishes. The portion sizes are smaller than they were at deseo, but extra care is taken with the presentation. All of our dishes were delicious. Lived up to my expectations of a Scott Bagshaw restaurant. The space is on the small/cramped side, so you get to know your neighbour, whether you want to or not. Service was very good and they really know their stuff. We will definitely return.

Had an evening free from the kids and I had to his restaurant on my "want to try it" list, and conveniently someone at work suggested it the same day as a great tapas place. So here I am, providing some feedback. I'm thoroughly impressed with the tapestry of flavours. My wife and I had three dishes (I will simply and call them; the shaved Brussels sprouts, the stacked flatbread and soy beans, as well as the amazing pork and chorizo) and a splendid chocolate mousse for dessert. Everything we had tasted so complete in their flavours, except for one dish which seemed basic at fist, and then realized how wonderful it was to the point where we jokingly contemplated etiquette of potentially licking the plate after. Service was great and we sat at the "bar" where we loved watching the chefs prepare everyone's dishes, helping us see what else we might want to get. Relatively small establishment, so call ahead for reservations so you are not disappointed!!!

A consistent favorite for my friends and I. This visit around we indulged in the beet salad, cauliflower, scallops, lamb, crème brûlée and chili plate mouse. All very enjoyable; packed with fresh dynamic flavors.

Went here for a celebratory dinner and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Since they specialize in wine, we asked our server to bring us a new glass to pair with each dish. We ended up trying almost the entire menu, and as a result my memory of each specific dish is a bit hazy. Of what I do remember, nothing could have been done better.

The tartare was classic but amazing, served with the best brioche you'll ever taste. Our server recommended the cauliflower as one of their most popular dishes, and for good reason. Everything was packed with flavour and the wine pairings were perfectly complimentary and delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Cute little restaurant, although a bit cramped has a nice atmosphere. Food was fair although I found it was slightly lacking flavour perhaps the dressings, etc. could be more plentiful. The NY strip was just a little disappointing. The cut itself was quite good, although the dish was a bit meager. The other dishes were good no complaints. Staff were attentive and friendly.

First time experience and a long time coming it was. Great wine selection, great tapas menu options and amazing service. Ordered 4 plates: beef tar tar, roasted cauliflower with gruyere, roasted beets with prosciutto and the duck. The tar tar was great and I loved the soft brioche it was served with, much better than crostinis. Cauliflower I would come back for again. The Brussels were good but underwhelming, I did not care for the citrus in the dish. Finally, the duck blew me away, it is such a great protein option on the menu.

My friend had recommended this place. So I knew it was tiny and always busy. We made reservations ahead of time. As expected it was packed and busy but our server was great and food was amazing. I'm a big fan of tapas! We had an amazing beef tartare with the best brioche, we had a beet dish which was super good especially if you love beets like me, and ended with the pork belly with parsnips and a lemongrass reduction. It was so juicy and tender and had the right amounts of sauces and veggies with it. Would recommend to anyone just make reservations ahead of opening or at opening. Great food overall and service. It's a bit tight for space but the food and service made up for that. A girlfriend and I shared these 3 plates and left satisfied!

Excellent dining experience! This place is a hidden gem! I loved the atmosphere from the decor, to the calm music that played in the background. A very cozy, intimate setting. There was three of us in our group, so we each selected our top pick and then asked the server to help us with the fourth. We ended up with the roasted Brussels, roasted cauliflower, hanger steak and the lamb sugo. Each item was brought out individually and the dishes were spaced out well enough that we had time to try and discuss each dish. Our server was very attentive throughout the whole experience. To finish the evening off, we decided to get dessert (even though we were all feeling very full, they sounded too delicious to pass up). There was the option of a chocolate mousse with shortbread and an orange Creme brûlée with bay leaves. Both were good but I was more partial to the mousse as I am a chocolate lover. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the evening! We had fantastic service, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very inviting. I will be raving about this one for a while and will definitely be returning to try more!

When requesting information ahead of our reservation regarding gluten-free options I was told to "grow a pair and get comfortable with asking your server". Disrespectful, rude, and arrogant.
Businesstraveller
After much anticipation, I finally went to Enoteca with 5 of my colleagues. I was incredibly disappointed with the service we received. Our waiter, Jesse, was incredibly rude, condescending and his "better than you" attitude was off-putting, especially when our bill ended at over $600.

The food was absolutely delicious, there's no doubting that. But I can not get past how unpleasant the atmosphere was - from the moment we sat down, it was apparent that he was not interested in providing a quality service experience. It later became clear when he forced us into an 18% gratuity, even though nowhere does it mention parties of 6 or more will be charged (calculated on top of tax).

For future visitors, don't expect to receive anything beyond what's specifically noted on the menu. That includes asking for some butter to accompany the $6 bread basket for the table. Or, if your bland cauliflower dish needs some flavour, don't ask for any of the already made truffle aioli- served with several other dishes.

Overall, while the food was great, it's impossible to get over the appalling service we experienced- especially given the price of this restaurant. Diners, beware.
PnRfoodies
Artfully prepared, flavourful tapas style dishes. Although calling them 'tapas' does not do justice to their level of sophistication and depth of character. Friendly, knowledgable service and excellent wines. Can not wait to return!
Foodie10
A great restaurant for sharing dishes. The food was tasty however the portions were small. The lamb dish was incredibly small. The creme brûlée was delicious. An interesting dining experience while being somewhat pricey.
Headingley
We thought the food was fairly tasty. We enjoyed the hanger steak, beef rib, and mushroom dish. The atmosphere is average...it's a fairly small room but they really pack you in. Although we enjoyed the food I must say that each dish is significany over-priced. This was really a "tapas" cash grab. When I think about value, this really drops my rating. There are so many places to eat in Winnipeg that offer better value that we won't be back. So in summary...tasty food but poor way over priced.
J Waterer
Tiny little place in an odd location. Lovely interior decor. Only beer and wine- no mixed drinks. Had the beets, steak tartar, baked cauliflower and rabbit ragout. Would only have have the tartar, in retrospect; others unremarkable. Some dishes quite over priced.
Patrick Nolan
Well,we finally swallowed the frog and went here for dinner. As I'm limited to the number of words, I need to be brief. 1) very expensive. We are by no means chintzy diners, but is assessing the meal and the cheque afterwards, we felt...underwhelmed. 2) fawning service bordering on obsequious. We don't want need our server regurgitating wines and varietals and pairings rote manner over us at the table. We get it, dude. And spare us the big words; it's a night out, not a university linguists class. 3) food. VERY small servings, highly deconstructed, complex flavours and ingredients, improved as we worked down the menu. Excellent Nagano pork belly, tartare best we've ever had. Biggest downside of all was that we left hungry and over $200.00 lighter in the wallet. Overall a nice time with food that went from good to great. Would we return? The verdict is still out on that....

Can I just ask, what's with the dog? We live in the area and a couple of times now, we've walked past Enoteca at this time of day, and there's a dog (looks like a German shepherd cross) loose in the restaurant. It runs at the front windows barking when we walk past. Since the restaurant is closed at this time of day, what's the dog doing there?
Kaitlyn Caprice Douglas
Great restaurant if you like trying new things and eating "tapas style". There was two of us and we ordered 4 tapas, plus dessert and it was amazing. Ordered the green salad, brussel sprouts, shrimp and braised short rib - would recommend them all! Had espresso mouse for dessert - it was wonderful. Wine prices are too expensive, which is my only complaint.
Fionnagh Sheldon
The cozy and chic atmosphere is only improved by the knowledgeable and accommodating staff. I had the roasted cauliflower dish. Not only was it delicious and well presented, but very filling. Our server was also able to suggest the appropriate wine to compliment our meals.
L Williamson
Small restaurant, nicely decorated. Nice wine choices and the food - all "small plates" intended for two - was spectacular. We had the asparagus, steak tartar and short ribs and finished up with a breath-taking orange/thyme/basil creme brûlée. The servers were a delight and very knowledgeable.

One quibble: the music was a bit intrusive. Something softer would be better. Otherwise heartily recommended!
Morgan Young
Excellent food but uncomfortable seating. We also had to ask for fresh plates and cutlery with each new dish. With just a few changes, Enoteca could be the best tapas restaurant in Winnipeg.
Pia D'Angelo
Went to Enoteca on Friday for the first time and had an amazing meal. The food was beautiful. Each ingredient was handled with care and served a purpose. The dishes are unlike anything you'll find in the city. The chef really is an artist. The service was really good (shout out to Doug!). He was prompt, knowledgeable, and really helped us decide on what to order and how much. The meal was paced properly and we were want for nothing. This is a place for intelligent eaters.

Great food...but..... We are huge fans of DESEO and thought we would give Enoteca a try. Beware, the restaurant is very small and the table are so cramped together you are esentially dining with the people next to you! The waiters can't even get between the tables, so they are serving over your head - not great. All of the food we ordered was fantastic...but our service near the end of the evening was terrible. We wanted another piece of bread to finish off the beef tartar we ordered and waited 25 minutes for the bread, and when our cheque came we waited another 25 mins for the waiter to come back with the debit machine so we could pa. We were pretty much igmored after our last dish was served - no more bread, our water glasses weren't filled any more and if you really wanted us to leave, let us pay our bill! Really unfortunate way to end a good meal. Would come back for the food, and hope the service would be better next time. We still prefer DESEO!
Caitlin Clearwater
Fantastic. The location is a little wanting, but once you get inside this place prepare for an adventure to flavourtown. I was seriously impressed. The wine selection is well thought out, service is fantastic, the dishes are creative. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Just go for it, you're in good hands.
A&K
First time here, but will definitely be back. I've never had beef tartar prior to trying it here, but it was surprisingly delicious despite being apprehensive to try it. The green salad was amazing for a salad, and was quite filling, but the beef short rib with the black truffles and trumpet mushroom was my favourite. If you like Deseo, you'll enjoy Enoteca.
Minnie
Great food and love the atmosphere! Will definitely be back!

Enotec-yeah. The decor is standard of late, but the food was uniquely goodl
A lot going on in the dishes, each bites has new flavours.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had in the city. Service was top notch, great wine list and tasting pours are always fun. The food was incredible. I have come to expect great things from Scott Bagshaw and I was not disappointed.
Hannah Clark
My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner and had an incredible meal. The service was prompt and the open kitchen gave the restaurant an intimate vibe. We ordered three dishes to share; the beef tartare, a roasted cauliflower dish and the beef short rib.

The beef tartare was the perfect consistency and served with a hot mustard and creme fraiche along with a generous smattering of foie gras. A raw quail egg was served on the pile of tartare, which we had fun swirling into the fresh meat. When all piled generously onto the provided toast point they worked harmoniously to create that savory, tangy, salty experience that makes beef tartare a classic.

The roasted cauliflower was a thoughtful and beautiful vegetable dish. It contained a bouquet of ingredients that worked together to elevate the cauliflower. Anything but boring. Capers, cave aged gruyere, leeks, macerated orange slices and almonds came together to add amazing flavour and texture to every bite. As you eat this dish it becomes a different experience, each ingredient stepping into the spotlight depending on how you arranged it on your fork.

The beef short rib, though. Damn. I mean damn. I told the server I wanted to write a book about it. I was hesistant to order the short rib and thank god my wonderful man convinced me. It was served in a pool of dark, Port wine gravy with perfectly creamy mashed potatoes, wilted greens and a hit of black truffle. As you nudged the meat with your fork, tender fibers just fell away. This made it easy to share but difficult not to fight over.

Please go here. Support this business. This is real Winnipeg culinary talent and you will not be disappointed.
Julia
Wine is a bit pricey but the meals are wonderful and great for sharing. Tried the steak tartare (great smoky flavour), pasta with lamb, and tomatoes with buffalo motzarella and they were all flavourful. Definitely go with a few people and share your meals family style!
Jacksie
Loved it! We always leave the tapas choices and wine paring up to our server, he did an amazing job. Delicious food, great atmosphere, generous portions. New fav restaurant

Patron. I had a terrible experience at Enoteca. I was seated close to the bathroom and when I asked to move to a different table, the owner, Scott, would not allow me to move. The restaurant was empty and there were several other tables available. He was very rude and not accommodating. I had a reservation and was there on time. When I asked how he decides who sits where, he responded "It's luck of the draw". When I told him that I have never had this issue in a restaurant before, he said, "That's a problem because you get your own way". I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone because the owner does not care about his patrons. I told him that I would not return and he didn't seem to care. This is the same guy that left Pizzeria Gusto several years ago on bad terms. I was not impressed!
Foodster
Best. This new restaurant was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in Winnipeg. The service was professional with excellent wine and food pairing suggestions, the gnocchi was deep with flavour while being fluffy and crisp at the same time, the beef short rib was oozing with rich and complex sauce and the creme brûlée was the perfect end to the evening. Enoteca is the real deal.
R Fraser Stansel
Second meal at Enoteca, second memorable experience. Chef Scott is creating some seriously tasty food here, with a professional, informed, wine-savvy staff. The tartare is the best I've tasted, and the fresh pasta with lamb takes me back to Tuscany. Very excited to see what's on his next menu.
Burger
Easily one of the best restaurants in the city.

See ya later Quiznos' HELLLOOO Enoteca!. This place isn't pumping out hot subs anymore that's for sure. Enoteca, a new eatery, is the newest addition to the Corydon strip near Kenaston that houses amazing shops like Oak and Lilly, Poppy Clothing, and Hair 2 Dye For.

The atmosphere is minimalist, sharp and inviting - as is the menu. The open kitchen concept is always a favourite as well. Seeing a calm, cool and collective team making your meal, always means things are going to blow your taste buds away.

We are definitely heading back for more. This first visit we started with Salt Roasted Beets served with curried chèvre, walnut puree, apple dressing and granola. The mixture of all these ingredients is unreal! Granola and the puree, mixed with the beets and some basil...mind blown. You need this meal in your life - trust me.

We followed this with the Cured hamachi, passion fruit, chili cucumber, coconut, and yucca chipe. This was such a refreshing plate. The flavours were all crisp and light. The perfect nosh after a hot summer day.

Then the order that made my husband say he would get 20 of these plates hands down: The Short rib, smoked potato, pickled mustard, onion ring, pistachio and red wine. Ah-may-zing. The meat melts in your mouth, the onion ring is perfect contrast of texture with the meat, and the sauce...oh man the sauce. You won't regret it.

We ended off the evening (after tipping back a full bottle of white wine from the region of Alsace with our 3 plates) with a ginger creme brûlée. This wrapped up the evening in a perfect little bow.

The menu is small - which you know means quality off the top. As is the wine menu. No crazy selections which makes menu choices easier (in my opinion). The service was outstanding, and considering this is a new place that speaks volumes. Check Enoteca out, you won't regret it. It's the little things that I adored here too, the receipt is hand written, the servers wear dark aprons, there is one large communal dining table. This all equals one great experience as soon as you walk in the door. Two words: EAT HERE.
Rube
Yes YES yes!. Great new spot. Great addition. I'm sure it will be around for a long time. Cozy, inviting minimalist atmosphere. Perfect, friendly service. Great food. What could be bad? For those of you who aren't afraid of a little raw meat, the steak tartare is amongst the best I have ever had (maybe the best). Other standout was the Tomato Salad with Buffalo mozza and Pinenut butter! I want more.
Brent
Will be back! Excellent service and the cauliflower three ways along with the shortrib (with smoked mashed potatoes) were delicious.

Love, love, LOVE!!!. Just when you thought Scott couldn't get any better...

This is a tapas restaurant with a similar menu (in spirit) to the tapas menu that you would find at Deseo. The style of the dishes are the same, but none of the menu items are identical and most are brand new. We tried four dishes: tomatoes, hamachi, cauliflower, and beets.

Each dish was better than the one before, and the one before was fantastic, so the bar just got higher and higher.

We narrowed our favourites down to three of the four we tried.

1. The hamachi was beautiful and perfectly balanced. The fish was served with a variety of different sauces that were dripped along the plate. The flavourful sauces included a mixture of sour, sweet, salty, and spicy. Add to that the crispy yucca chips and the combination of texture and flavour was perfection. Please keep this on the menu!

2. Cauliflower. No one in this city is able to create innovative vegetable dishes like Scott Bagshaw. Most chefs forget about or don't care about vegetarians. They usual throw on a pasta or filo pastry dish to appease the veggies and call it a day. Not this chef. Who would have thought that cauliflower could be spectacular? But with a mixture of delicious roasted cauliflower, raw almonds, walnut (I think?) puree, and pickled raw cauliflower, the taste profile was truly marvelous. We love this chef for his genius at creating wonderful and delicious veg dishes. Keep them coming!

3. Beets. Okay, so if you've been to Deseo you know the beet salad. We initially skipped this dish thinking it was the same old thing. Not so. We took a second look at the menu and gone is the cambozola (which in our opinion makes this Deseo favourite). Add instead curry chevre, a nut butter (can't remember which nut), and wait for it...granola! This combination turned an old favourite into and even more fabulous new favourite! What a fantastic dish!

Now if the food wasn't delicious enough, this restaurant offers a small but terrific wine list with 3, 6, and 9 ounce pours (plus full bottles of course). My husband is a variety seeker, so tried most of the whites, the rose, and the Pinot Noir. I'm pretty predictable and stuck to my usual palate, which in this case was a Cab Sauvignon/Shiraz blend (yes with veg and fish dishes). I was surprised to find that this bigger wine worked fabulously with all the dishes except the fish. Charles and Charles! Yum!

The service was impeccable and the ambiance energized (but still audible). We will return to Enoteca again (and again and again). Can't recommend it highly enough. Congrats Scott and team on a wonderful new restaurant!

Enoteca was a joy and delight to dine at. The style, presentation and pagentry the chefs create with their food is something everyone should behold. Make sure to go with a group as they are geared towards shared small plate tapas style dining.
Food Musings
Living in River Heights has many advantages; the canopy of elm tree- lined streets is only one of many. The exceptional restaurants within walking distance of our home verge on gluttonous: Fusion Grill , In Ferno’s, Pizzeria Gusto , Chew , Bonfire Bistro , Mona Lisa and now right smack at the end of our street at 1670 Corydon Ave.: Enoteca Wine Repository! We were very lucky to get a reservation on a recent Friday evening. We had the choice of 5:30 or 9 pm. We picked the former, thinking that we would be the only ones dining at such a gauche hour but such was not the case. The little place was singing with happy diners. We were celebrating Sister #3’s birthday so we let the guest of honour choose a couple of small plates to start us off. First up were roasted beets and oranges accompanied by shards of fennel and horseradish and garnished with toasted pine nuts and pumpkin seeds along with a cool ladle of labneh (strained yoghurt). Olive oil may have been drizzled onto the plate or perhaps the sparkling ingredients simply oozed their natural juiciness. Along next was freshly made fettucine with lamb sugo which I would describe as a meaty broth, sugo literally meaning the natural juices of a roast. Chevre and a second sauce of parsley, garlic and lemon zest adorned the top and floated around the edges of the dish. The piece de résistance was a braised short rib, pressed into a smoked potato puree and topped with oyster mushrooms and hot mustard. The essence of the dish was sauce perigeux which is made with Madeira and decadent and earthy, black truffles. Just a little of the latter goes a long way. This and all the sauces were so heavenly that we did something that we should have done at the start of the meal-we ordered a bread basket to lap up the sauce. The attentive serving staff tried to clear the plate a couple of times, but we continued to grasp it until the toasted bread arrived. The Bread Pudding that the birthday girl chose was no ordinary bread puddin
