HEADS UP: Cash only. I always forget and am scrounging in my purse. Although I love the atmosphere of this little old school diner; it's nothing too remarkable. Their pancakes are my favourite (and I adore all-day-breakfast) but the prices are much too high for the provided food. Service is usually very nice- the owners and staff are all people persons. That being said- the food is not incredible. A lot of menu options are just store bought and frozen. If I do go: it is for their caring staff, awesome vintage feel, and maybe one of their delicious milkshakes (made with a vintage milkshake maker). Not my first option for food: but this place is popular among locals for its ability to remain classic and consistent in a world of turbulence.
great food, great service. only thing is they dont like if i want to switch from sausage to bacon. but maybe i shouldn't be making changes to their menu items :P keep up the great work!
What a Diner should be. When you enter this place it seems like the usual Diner Schtick... Lunch counter, fifties decor....etc... No real marks for originality, but the food here is really good. Made with care and not afraid to throw in some atypical options (black and white pudding and potato pancakes) right along side plain old burgers and fries (done right BTW).
This place is a classic, not because it's pretending to be one, but because it does all the right things a classic should. Stick to the basics and perfect them.
Fabulous little diner.... Everything you read on the net is true! (if it's positive, that is!) My fiance and I checked out this little gem last saturday and we were both amazed! This spot has awesome atmosphere, great food, really good service, and it has a charm that you don't find very often anymore other than in those silly little po-dunk towns on a long drive that you end up stopping at because you are dying of hunger! Funky decor, great menu selection, and always a *huge* wait at the door. I recommend the eggs benedict..... you will NOT be disappointed!
Best breakfast in town. My wife and i take our son there as many Sundays as we can we go early before the rush I have to say we have tried every breakfast place in the White Rock area and there is nothing better great food great service THANK YOO
Authentic 50's Diner... Cool!. What a find! This is no restaurant done up to LOOK like a 50's Diner.. It IS one that hasn't changed. From its original curved black bakelite counter with stools along it to the vintage milkshake maker, this place takes patrons back in time. The friendly staff here treat everyone like old friends and it has a huge local regular crowd that make it a busy place sometimes. The menu is breakfast and lunch only; classic brekkies with some surprises like a full Traditional Irish Breakfast as well as a some good "hash" plates. Their burgers are home-made and the fries are perfect. If you have a hankering to see what restaurants used to be like.. this is the place.
Amazing staff, cheerful atmosphere, and great food.
Just did Five Corners Cafe for brekkie... Awesome as usual!
I give this place an 8. I think this place rocks! Cool interior and friendly faces make you feel at home. Try this place out!!
My friend and I were heading for a stroll on White Rock beach, and we stopped by the old school diner, Five Corners Cafe for brunch. One thing you can count on in diners is all day breakfast. My breakfast of choice was the Huevo Breakfast while my friend ordered a Chili Scramble . My Huevo Breakfast was awesome. On the menu it said green onion, jalapeño and cheese with hash brown and eggs, but when it came it was a cake of grilled potato mash with jalapeño, green onion, topped with melted cheese, and covered with fried eggs and salsa. Every since I had grilled potato mash at The Verse , I'd order it every chance I get. The potato mash was a real nice surprise for me here. There was a good amount of jalapeño, which gave a nice hint of spicness. There was a really nice layer of melted cheddar cheese between the eggs and the mash. I liked this dish a lot, to my surprise. My only complaint is that they used canned salsa, but I can't complain too much about a diner. This is a g
