Review Ethel's Lounge - Waterloo

Stopped in after an appointment ordered the nachos & jr Ethel burger. Best nachos I’ve had anywhere, they don’t skimp on the toppings which is nice! The burger was amazing not too dry. The burger alone was filling even though it came with sides - can’t wait to come back!

Pretty grossed out after I found part of a wet nap wrapper at the bottom of my drink. Nachos were good but for the price I expected more. Not much pulled pork on top and like most places the nachos under the first layer had nothing on them. And very little sour cream. The beef brisket wrap was so plain. Only saw our waiter twice before we ordered then didn't see him at all. Gave this place 2 more chances. Burger Monday & Taco Tuesday. Monday Burgers - went in for the burger they were advertising on Instagram (not part of the deal) burger was dry & overcooked. Taco Tuesday - Taco had so little meat in them. You have to order all the sides to even fill the tacos up half way. Some of my tacos almost had no meat in them. Too bad because their shell was actually good.

Excellent service, fun drinks and tasty snacks! (med wings were a little more on the spicy side for me, and no blue cheese)

Large menu, lots of patio space, and amazing daily deals such as three dollar tacos. Lots of vegetarian options as well, with many items also easily converted to vegetarian.

Quintessential Diner. This place was one of my favourite haunts when I lived in Uptown. Great, old fashioned diner, with excellent food, based partially on a Tex-Mex style. The food was excellent, and incredibly reasonable and in particular the Saturday night ribs were great. Staff was always super friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was super fun and relaxed. It attracts a wide variety of patrons, spanning the neighbourhood it sits in and beyond. Definitely one of the go-to spots in Waterloo.

To be honest, the drinks were fine but the nachos were severely overpriced. We ordered the 3 topping nachos with jalapeños, black olives, and guacamole. Unfortunately, they completely forgot to add the guacamole which we embarrassingly didn’t notice at the time. But the next day, we were definitely miffed about it. After all, it’s guacamole — I willingly pay extra for that. Also the included sides of salsa and sour cream were tiny! I was okay with the amount of sour cream but salsa? 2 tablespoons of salsa for a giant plate of nachos is not enough. Plus, the actual chips were stale and very salty. I know these places aren’t usually known for their good food, but 20 bucks for a plate of nachos that you don’t want to finish even when you’re slightly inebriated is upsetting at best. The service was decent other than that. Our waiter checked on us periodically throughout our time there and was fairly attentive.

Ethel's has a lot to love. Great outdoor space, great energy, nice and cozy inside also. Nice variety of beers and something new to try with every visit if you are feeling adventurous. The food is, comforting. Not spectacular and not bad.

Went here for their Monday special, burgers. The burgers were great and the drinks were reasonably priced. Make sure to ask what their rotating tap is because they can have some interesting beers! Service was great, especially by this one gentleman that came by our table a couple of times named Alex
