Another popular bakery in Vic, especially known for their bread. Not a huge shop or selection but the loaves and pastries are freshly made with local or Canadian grown ingredients and no preservatives etc. Also provide wholesale to many grocery stores and restaurants. Yummy cookies, especially the peanut butter chocolate chunk. The sesame seed buns are very good, and served next door at Pink Bicycle making their burgers famously delicious.
Staff turnover a bit of a problem. I get my bread here all the time. They have a super-young staff that still doesn't get it. She's better than when she first started, but she sorely needs some customer service training. She doesn't even know that she's being snarky.
They used to have two very friendly staff, but I don't see them anymore.
Luckily, they have great bread and reasonable prices. There are tons of unfriendly service people so you just decide if you can handle the bad service when there is great product. There is only so much I can take though.
To whom it may concern: please don't close before 5pm.
Good foccacio. Onion Focaccio (aka Onion Board) is the best. And I personally think Bond Bond's French Baguettes are the best in Victoria, bar none. As a single diner most of the time now I use the "leftover" (if any) French Baguettes to make delicious croutons.
Not too fond of their pastries but that's a simple matter of taste. I like Crust's pastries and Danishes but not their baguettes. But the difference is this - a block walk. And I'd walk that extra block for either Crust on Fort or Bond Bond on Blanchard. The staff at both places are friendly, up beat and helpful.
Debit & credit accepted!!. IT'S HAPPENED! Just in time for the holidays Bond Bond's Bakery now accepts debit and credit cards!
The third best bakery in town, which is pretty good in my books. But be warned, cash only.
Great bakery. When I feel like splurging I go to Bond Bond's. They have the best burger buns, and it is the reason Pink Bicycle has good burgers.
Excellent. Bond Bond's is one of my top five favourite bakeries in town. They have delicious breads, buns, muffins, cookies, etc, all made with whole ingredients (i.e. real BUTTER, which is a must in my books). They are a traditional bakery, which means they produce basic sandwich breads and basic baking, but nothing wood-fired or made with levain, nothing artisanal. However, for a traditional bakery, Bond Bond's is the very best. Everything has a lot of flavour and is made with love. I especially LOVE the oatmeal-buttermilk muffins, the sprouted grain bread, and the vegetarian sandwich.
I agree with an earlier poster that service at Bond Bond's was pretty bad for over a year due to that grouchy counter person, but she is gone now and service is great! The only draw back to this place is that they only take cash. Come prepared, because you will buy more than you think.
Really Good Bread and Buns.. One of the better bakeries in Victoria. Nice fresh chewy bread and buns. Pretzels are a bit pricey at $2.00 each, tastes more like a bun and not the real pretzel.
Miserable Service. I wanted to write a great review for Bond Bond's, I think their bread is much better then some other places in town, and all the baked goods I have tried have been wonderful.
At the beginning of summer I frequently went here for a sandwich at lunch or the occasional cookie but I have been out of town for a few months and went back for the first time at the beginning of September and was treated rudely by the person at the counter. My hello was greeted with a blank stare and she was just unpleasant the whole time. No big deal, everyone has a bad day right? So I have returned three more times over the last month, the same person is working she has been completely miserable each time. Curt one word replies, annoyance with any question, no hint of a smile or anything remotely considered friendliness.
For me service is a factor when I choose which businesses I frequent, my standards aren't high but as a server myself I think even the most minuscule amount of effort is necessary. Unfortunately I think today's visit will definitely be my last.
Hope this place sticks around!. A great little local bakery. Fresh, good bread. They have freshly made sandwiches available, however, they are not made to order. Baguettes are nice and crusty, buns are soft and chewy. Fantastic croissants, but only when they're fresh. They only take cash though!
I've been popping in periodically over the last few years to purchase treats for work - this is a great little bakery with lovely staff. Their snickerdoodles are the best in the city, IMO, and their ginger cookies are consistently excellent as well. I recently discovered their cheese + onion scone, and will definitely be back for those!
I've been going to Bond Bond's for YEARS.
Great bread, friendly staff, quaint atmosphere.
OMG, their croissants are amazing!!! Almond croissant is the best, and price too!!! This place is not well known, but everyone should go there> Quality of baked good 100% better than Crust (where the croissants are very heavy) and better that Fol Epi where the croissants are dry and dare to charge you $8.00.
Bond Bond's is my place to go in downtown. Staff are really helpful and friendly. I recommend this place 1,000 times!!!!
Cheese buns are delicious. The chocolate croissant was okay but it was light on the chocolate.
Victoria, BC is blessed with wonderful bakeries. I’ve been a Bond Bond’s client for many years. Even though I don’t go there as often as I used to when I was working downtown, I am surprised by the consistency of their products over the years. I think their blueberry bran muffins are wonderful and I appreciate the seasonal goods, like the ones baked at Christmas. I have tried all their breads, knowing that they use the best ingredients and no preservatives. The slow fermentation process used in BB made their breads easier to digest.
Recently I found a new product – the “wild” sourdough bread. It is not only very tasty, but I realized I can eat a lot without any problems.
Thank you Bond Bond’s for all the honest dedicated work you do to keep your products healthy and very enjoyable.
With some flashy options around the corner I think Bonds is a little overlooked. The sweet options are great and there are solid bread options. Love the Onion Board is my favorite to go with some balsamic and oil when I get home. Lemon squares, pecan squares, and peanut butter bars are our go-tos in the sweet categories. And I always seem to get more for a few less dollars than the other folks in the neighborhood. Make sure you check out the deals on the day old rack too.
My favorite bakery in Victoria💖 sprouted grain bread & pb chocolate cookies are my go to. So delicious. Staff are friendly and the day old section is a serious bargain! Often they have free bread as well!
I showed up at 7am and purchased the fresh sourdough baguette, blueberry scones and blueberry danishes. The flavor and quality was outstanding.
It was worth the early walk in the rain, we broke fast like Kings and Queens.
We ordered traditional Christmas Pudding with Hard Sauce from Bond Bond's this year and it was delicious! The whole family agreed it was the best we've ever had. Many thanks!
I am adjusting my rating to 4 stars, the rude employee seems to not be there anymore.
Good sandwiches. The baking is delicious. The one employee who's always serving me is SO rude. Friends say the same thing.
