Stopped in for takeout and tried the spicy salmon and the spicy tuna roll. Flavour was excellent, but it took almost an hour to be ready. Definitely call and order ahead! They seemed frazzled with various online order platforms as well as numerous in-person takeout patrons, and with only 1 man behind the counter preparing the food, it's no surprise that they were having a really hard time keeping up with orders.
This place is pretty dang good. A little pricey. But hey. I got it on skip.

I love bad food so this place is great for me. All of the food on the plate tasted bad even the ginger! I think it was even actually off which was a bonus. We got some tuna sashimi that came out frozen. I was thrilled.
If you enjoy bad sushi and bad food this is the spot for you!!
Delicious! Came with a few friends before a show at the metro, convenient location, prompt service. My only complaint would be that the yam roll was served with brown rice (not asked for or noted on the menu) that was much dryer than the white rice of our other sushi. Next time I’ll just ask for white rice!
Used to come regularly in a former life. Great experiences always. Chef moved on to open Kissako in Oak Bay, and the quality of sushi here declined. That was a long time ago, but poor sushi memories linger.
I came back for lunch recently (must be new ownership) and it was great. Back twice since and I am glad it's back.
Such a great spot for dinner! Amazing sushi and roll choices, fantastic melt in your mouth sashimi When we came we were greeted by a friendly face that invited us to our tables. We were served miso right away and our dinner followed in great time. Would definitely come again and know that I will not be disappointed.
Always had great meals here. Fresh. Good variety. Brown rice available and recommended with some dishes. Affordable lunch menu. Quick and friendly service. Convenient to downtown but not smack in the middle of it.
I was walking down the street last week and wanted to have Japanese food for lunch. Then, I saw Futaba. Frankly, I've never seen this restaurant before. I wondered if it's good so I entered the restaurant.
The restaurant's interior design is really Japan style. I really love the environment of it. The restaurant itself is clean and really organized. People who work at the sushi bar said Hi to me. It is a really friendly environment.
I ordered Chicken Teriyaki and Tuna sushi. The teriyaki dish tasted really good. The meat was very well cooked, by that, I mean it wasn't dry and hard to chew. In fact, the texture is the best I've ever tried! Tuna is also really fresh. The best thing is that you can change your rice to Brown Rice, which is a healthier choice for rice! The restaurant really cares about customers health!
The price is reasonable, too! Overall, I am really glad that I chose Futaba! Ever since I've visited the store for so many times!!
Such friendly and attentive staff. Lovely space to eat in. The food always satisfies. I have learned about Japanese cuisine through my meals here and it is a special treat. I enjoy the age dashi tofu with sesame sauce.
I only ever order the 'rock and roll' roll and tea, but I would definitely recommend both. Their food sourcing practices seem quite mindful which I appreciate, but their music choices are very questionable.
