Review Frankie's Modern Diner - Victoria

Traditionally Modern Food
If Google allowed me to give more than a 5-star rating, I would have done so. The staffs are friendly, the food is good, and the ambiance is nice. Our waiter was extremely friendly and clarified our doubts about the portion size. After ordering the food, we inquired about nearby shoe shops, and she guided us to the route. Appetizer arrived quickly as told, and each time food was served, the staff cautioned us about the hot bowls. When our waiter came to inquire about the food, I thanked her for suggesting a shoe shop, and I mentioned that my husband had gone to buy shoes. She even offered to keep his portion in the kitchen to keep it hot until he returned. We ordered a kid's meal for one child, and for the other kid, we shared food. When bringing the dessert for the kid's meal, the waiter even offered to bring dessert for my son, making him extremely happy. It's the best way to treat customers. The onion rings were the best, and my daughter enjoyed her Mac and cheese. The vegetable lasagna and soup tasted good with seasoning. While leaving, we needed to refill the water. We saw another waiter and asked if she could bring us water. Without saying 'I am not your waiter,' she not only brought water but also filled it herself. If I am visiting Victoria again, I will definitely revisit this restaurant for the food and the excellent customer service

12/23: The waitress was very nice. The food was good. I ordered a mimosa & the veggie lasagna. I had to try the key lime pie. It was good. Definitely would recommend Frankie's Modern Diner if you're ever in Victoria.

Absolutely loved our meal here. The atmosphere and decor were great. The service was excellent. Great selection of food, it took quite a while to decide what to have. But I always knew I’d be having the key lime pie after seeing it on display in the massive fridge at the entrance. In the end I went for the curried penne as it sounded so unusual. I was not disappointed with either option, both were delicious. I’d love to come back if I’m ever in Victoria again.

Great food, and quick friendly service. The Lamb dip was absolutely amazing! The Caesar has tons of Parmesan and the tomato soup was very tasty. The Cheesecake and Key Lime Pie were very rich and delicious.

The place was packed, but the wait wasn't long (wait! It's worth it) the food was flavor packed and delicious. Everything was great, but the real standout? Our server! Laeya is badass! I watched her take drink and food orders for a table of 10 without writing anything down!!! And it was all correct! It's super cool to go in to a busy place and watch the dance that happens in a smoothly run restaurant. Eat here!

Everyone had a great lunch. Food was great, service was fast and friendly, and the holiday vibes were fun. Great prices too. Will definitely be returning.

Exceptional food and service. We are impressed by the server that asked if we had any food allergies. It's a step in service that more establishments should add . My husband had the steak and eggs, steak was cooked perfectly and I had the breakfast garden wrap and it was amazing

What a great recommendation! We had plans to go for breakfast at another place and a friend recommended this one last minute and we were so happy she did. The service was incredible! They were so helpful and understanding, as we have a hyperactive toddler and they were just lovely to him. The food was delicious, the atmosphere like a Chicago Style dinner. If you are in Victoria looking for a place to eat breakfast I would definitely recommend this place. Located just minutes away from the Fairmont. They also have a nice patio.

Nice, casual, relaxing date atmosphere. Went there on a Monday afternoon and it was quiet & relaxing. Waitress was wonderful, I asked to be seated by the window because it was a beautiful day out and she kindly accommodated. We ordered... -calamari (4/5 was a little lacking in flavor, but great portion) -prawn skillet from the appetizer menu (5/5 for sure, so flavorful it was my favorite) -and I think I had the seafood linguine (4/5 definitely a lot of pasta compared to the amount of seafood actually given, flavor was a little lacking but still good) Definitely walked away full with leftovers, so it's worth it :)

Went in tonight for dinner. Questioned about gluten free food and was assured there were definitely things suitable for a coeliac. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad gluten free, which was marked on the menu as being gluten free. It tasted delicious and l was really enjoying it until l found a crouton. Our waiter was very apologetic, but it was to late. I was offered a new one which l accepted but probably shouldn't have. I also received free dessert. Just made it back to our hotel when the effects of gluten hit. Very disappointed.

Excellent food and plenty of it! Attentive staff who always seem to have a cheery word and a smile. I called in out of curiosity and my curiosity was rewarded with a grest meal. Not expensive either. I recommend the Diner to anyone visiting Victoria who wants a quality meal!

This place was awesome! Nice decor, but still had a "diner" feel. Wait staff was helpful and attentive. Breakfast choices were creative, made it hard to decide. Portion was not excessive but sufficient. Added a Caesar & mamossa for a nice Father's Day treat!

Had the west coast bennie, spectacular! I would definitely recommend this place.

Visited for the first time on Sunday, after the Pride parade! Amazing! Delicious food and fantastic service! I love the layout of the restaurant, and there are lots of comfy booths. Visited again this evening with family from out of town. Another fantastic evening! My new fave

Since discovering Frankie's, it has become our 'go-to' for breakfast. They've always had consistently great food, good service, and so far, we haven't had to wait for a table! We have been there once for dinner and the food was great then too! We'll be back again soon!

We absolutely loved this place. Prices were great and the food was phenomenal! It was a great place to eat while off the cruise ship.

I just had the best experience at Frankie's. I am travelling with a small school group and I'm used to getting an exasperated look when we pull into a restaurant unannounced. Here we had the exact opposite experience. We were welcomed with open arms and smiles. Great meal. Beautiful view. The best orange juice I have ever had!

Excellent as always!, We dine Frankies whenever we are in Victoria. If you are looking for a great breakfast, lunch or dinner experience (try the Lasagna!) & all at reasonable prices, go there!

The food was very bland and the service was just ok. They never refilled our waters and they messed up an order. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese which I felt I could make better at home. My
Friend had the club sandwich which was a little dry

Frankie's is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Victoria.

A good variety of food for all tastes, and great desserts!

Recommended!

Good service, bad food. Hundreds of flies and bugs swarming around the tables!! Gross!!
Flat beer and bad sangria!!!!!! No air conditioning in 30+ temperatures

Affordable diner food. Great for an inexpensive option, especially for breakfast for under $10. Not huge serving sizes, but it does the trick!
Nothing fussy or fancy about it - no showcasing the local, organic, community-connected cuisine of Victoria. Just your typical average diner meal - no complaints really because it's still decent food and prices are reasonable. Location is smack in the middle of Government Street and setting is nice and modern with ample seating. Seems to be very busy with tourists. Owner moved Frankie's down to Vic from Nanaimo where it was very successful to be closer to family. He used to own the Moxie’s restaurants in Victoria so he's very popular, walking around checking on everyone and chatting with locals.

This dinner taste SO bad, a supermarket packed lunch is 10 times better than what they offer here. I can cook better stuff with a blindfold. Service is great though.

Went here as it was close to the Parliament and the museum (which my class was visiting). We were served right away with excellent staff (the waiter I had was friendly and easy to talk to). The food came quite fast and tasted wonderful. The ambiance was good for a diner. Would recommend to come here.
________________________________
I ordered:
● Express Lunch Trio
(It was Tuna Melt and Butter Squash soup that day)
● Diner Fries (It's a big portion)
________________________________
My friend ordered:
● Momma's Tomato Soup

I visited this diner for breakfast. Had their Irish Coffee which was good to start with. Then ordered their Benedict's Eggs. The waiter recommended medium poached and I must agree it was good. Bit expensive for the breakfast but it was less crowded and calm.

The food and service was all right. The menu is what you would expect from a diner, nothing fancy. If i was in the area looking for a diner, I'd go back.

Rating should Actually should be -10. Unfortunately system only allows positive rating.
Stay away from this place.
Ordered the Sandwich Soup and Salad lunch Special - Hot Turkey Sandwich, Split Pea Soup, Broccoli Salad. Sounds great. Broccoli salad appeared nice, like nice tender broccolini - but was inedible. So tough I could not chew through. Hot Turkey Sandwich was on a slice of burnt day old toast topped with cold coagulated tasteless gravy. Again inedible. The soup was ok (& hot enough), but that happens when you just have to open a can and heat it up. Just add salt and pepper to cover the canned taste.
Husband had a burger with fries and Caesar Salad. Frozen Burger patty, frozen fries, mediocre Caesar Salad with store dressing and fake bacon bits. For $13.00, you would think they could a least have a fresh home made burger....Young server Ciara was good, she went back with my concerns about the salad and then the sandwich. When the bill came, I asked Ciara to be compensated as I only wanted to pay for the soup (I had not eaten anything else on the plate - yuck. ( at no fault to her). She came back and said 'We don't do things like that'. I then asked for an email address and name of the person that told her this. She went away and came back with Frank. Frank apparently couldn't give a shit about his customers, staff, or any feedback from them. Frank liked his salad and maybe it is supposed to be unchewable. Frank did not care that my meal was inedible. This place has not been in business very long and from this visit, can not see it lasting. The only thing it has going for it is the location and visitors will come, accept his horrible food, high prices and terrible customer service because they are just passing through (which is obviously why he does not give a shit about his customers). Visitors/Tourists - - KEEP WALKING... There are many many places to eat in Victoria that use FRESH food, not frozen - or go downstairs to BURGER KING where you will be respected and get what you are expecting. CIARA - find a new job, this guy Frank does not deserve you.

Diner lamb dip...what can I say! I far prefer lamb to a roast beef dip. Tender lamb, great bun and beautiful au jus. Great choice of sides, loved the apple fennel slaw with it. Comfortably decorated with friendly, attentive staff. Good value for fresh made food.
