The fish taco was good with many different flavors coming through. Decent portion for the money and can serve as a light afternoon snack as well.
Would go back again
Based on the last review for this place, and on a no red meat kick, I tried the Tuna and fish(battered and deep fried Ling Cod) tacos this evening.
Whoa,...now I understand why there's lineups and people eating while standing up in the place.
It's because the food is fantastic.
Brightly flavoured, fresh ingredients,...plus all the mouth feel favourites, in your hand.
Of the two taco's I had I liked the Tuna best, finely shredded seaweed the ingredient that took it over the top.
One point off because the price is pushing it. I'm absolutely positive that certainly Mexican nationals, and most Americans would be surprised how much us Canucks pay for essentially street food. And I'm sure many other restaurants might be jealous with how much $$$ this and other places with minimal decor/seating pull in, but hey,...in the food department it's hard to beat the nutritional value, taste and fun of the meal you get at this place.
The tortilla soup was good and not overly seasoned so you could really enjoy the ancho chicken broth. Inside the bowl were chunks of roast chicken thighs, sour cream, chunks of melted molten cheese, soft slices of avocado and still crunchy tortilla crisps.
Tacofino makes great tacos! The steak and yam tacos are my fav, the girlfriend loves the pork and fish!
Burriots are just bigger versions of the tacos with rice and cheese... what's not to like!
I was skeptical coming here after being to the tacofino in Tofino. But to my surprise the menu was exactly the same and tasted the same as well. Fish taco was nice and crispy with fresh pico and crunchy cabbage. Would come back here again and it's definitely on par with the Tofino location minus the views in Tofino.
A nice local taco joint with picnic bench seating. Good for a quick casual lunch or takeaway. For first time diners I would try the fish taco first!

Tacofino’s ever expanding reach has stretched the other side of Vancouver Island from where they originally started in Tofino. Their Victoria Tacobar has been open since approximately 2015. I had a chance to check out this location on my most recent Victoria holiday. This location is on the smaller side so I can imagine it would fill up quickly on weekends. Its in the heart of downtown on Fort Street. Other things I love at Tacofino are the burritos, especially the fish, crispy chicken or vegetarian with guacamole added. You cannot miss out on their Diablo cookies. They are a dense, brownie like, spicy cookie. I was happy to get my Tacofino fix during my Victoria vacation.
Best burrito I've had in Victoria! I got the steak burrito the other day for lunch (after multiple people told me to come here and try it) and was amazed at how fresh every component was! Will definitely come again. The line up was massive and I was still in and out in under 10 minutes
Well priced, flavorful, and filling burritos. Beer's a bit pricey. Seating is limited, the establishment itself is pretty cramped, and it's cumbersome to slip yourself onto the bench seating; but usually I'll just get something to go. Don't miss their delicious sauces at the counter. Staff is really friendly, and the service is pretty quick. Cool wallpaper, makes me want to go back to the original Tofino Tacofino :)
Two words: Fish burrito. Get it. But there's too much beans and rice in the burrito. There's the fried fish but way too much rice and beans. That's what makes their burrito huge.
This restaurant would be a 4.5/5 for me due to the fact that I bought nachos, added chicken for $6, and yet somehow ended up without beans on my meal. The food was actually delicious. However, I was disappointed that my nachos seemed so empty, despite having added chicken. The correct language would have been to sub chicken rather than add, as getting chicken substitutes it in for the beans.
This tuna taco will be joining me in my dreams for quite some time. Absolutely incredible! Expect a crowd during peak chow times. Order for pickup or inside dining then grab a spot at a table or bar. Service was super fast and friendly.
We stopped for a quick bite at Tacofino as we had already eaten and had dinner plans too. We just heard great things about the yam taco and couldn’t avoid it. It did not disappoint. The yam tempura was juicy, seasoned and delectable. The crunch from the cabbage paired with the acidity from the coleslaw really brought it all together. The tortilla was nice and grilled so the attention to detail was clear. We did have to wait a while but not cause of lack of effort. They had 4 to 5 people on the taco burrito assembly line constantly preparing orders. It was very organized and appeared clean. The staff was really friendly and we can’t wait to come back for a steak taco and/or their breakfast.
A must try in Victoria! Very attentive staff but very little space to sit inside. That said, the food is outstanding. We sampled the pork burrito and fried yam tacos and they were spectacular! Highly recommended for a quick lunch.
This place was on my must check out list during my trip to Victoria and it didn’t disappoint!!
I had a fried fish and a steak taco and both were delicious!!! The proteins were cooked to perfection and the tacos were just enough loaded that it had flavour punch without melting the taco shell/tortillas!
Super quick turnaround time! The place was a little noisy but that’s not a big deal.
Quite busy on a thursday night, but all the tacos we got were really tasty, just as good as their og location in tofino imo. Prices are on the higher side, but reasonable for the portion size! Would recommend the fish taco with the crispy battered cod :)
I want to give this place a 5 because I love the tacos. However, it is quite busy (not their fault) and quite pricey (a little bit more their fault). If it was cheaper I would certainly give 5 stars, but the quality to cost ratio is a little skewed (for tacos). Good flavours though, and a good west coast taco place.
Can you ever go wrong with Tacofino? Absolutely not. I've been to the Tacofino Ocho and Gastown (religiously) and I can never curb my craving for their tacos.
Having a chance to come to the Victoria location was a treat, especially since they're open till 11 pm. Staff were very friendly and service was quick (though your mileage may vary during peak hours).
10/10 would take a trip and make time on Tuesday for tacos anytime
Long time favourite place to get a burrito - especially like the crispy chicken. Service is efficient as the kitchen serves up the food in a usually busy place. Often kind of crowded and load but good atmosphere nonetheless.
Incredible Tacos!
Found myself pulled here by my sister while visiting her this weekend. Popped in line (there often is a short line I hear), and had our order taken, then delivered shortly thereafter. A number tag and bottle of water with a cute blue cap is handed to me before we head to our table. The server recommended the crispy chicken taco. My sister swore to me that the steak taco was the best I’d ever have. The former was great, but the latter was indeed true. Get a steak taco.
Bonus points for local Phillips Brewery on tap. Modern aesthetic and low key vibe brought it all together.
Highly recommend checking this place out.
