As usual I recommend stick with the chicken and avoid the spam like beef and lamb. They hv surprisingly good falafel as well. Typical donair joint with slightly upscale presentation.
I went to this place to have their lunch special, where you get a regular-sized pita donair as well as a soft drink for $8.99 (plus an extra $1 for cheese). They are Subway-like in that you get to pick the vegetables and sauces that you want in your donair. I had their chicken version. While I did find the meat to be a bit dry, the wrap was still quite tasty overall and it was a pretty good deal for the portion. This is a good place for a quick lunch.
Grilled Pita Donair (Chicken, $8.99 + $1 for Feta Cheese)
3.5/5
The donair, while not massive, was still a relatively decent portion and made a satisfying lunch. I'm quite impressed by how fresh their vegetables were: the lettuce and cucumbers were crisp and crunchy. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the chicken: it was over-charred and a little dry. I had garlic spread and donair sauce in my sandwich, and they lent some great flavour and creaminess. The feta cheese added a really nice salty flavour and creaminess, and was worth the extra $1. They do use pre-packaged pitas, but I didn't mind as I thought it was still quite tasty: soft and slightly chewy.
Came here for lunch and you will not have miss the restaurant if you are looking for a bright green exterior wall. I ordered the lamb special that came with a drink. At first the waitress forgot to give me the drink but I reminded them about it so it was fine. It was kind of like Subway or Quizno style where you pick the vegetables and sauce you want with your lamb and pita bread. The portion was huge and the taste was not bad. It was pretty cheap for the portion so my stomach was happy.
The Granville Strip in Downtown Vancouver has no shortage of eateries offering cheap eats until the wee hours of the morning. Definitely many “drunken noms” sort of places where you get a bite to eat while walking off the drunkness from late night partying. Donair Dude is one such eatery that is open until late offering large-sized donairs with fresh ingredients that’s also easy on the wallet. They have five locations in Metro Vancouver including West Broadway, Lonsdale, the West End (see review here), Gastown and the Granville Strip. Their Granville location may seem like mostly a late-night joint, but in fact, they also offer a very good deal for lunch. Between 11 am – 3 pm, a donair and a pop is just $7.99. While this review isn’t what you would call riveting, my point will be that Donair Dude may be a place to consider for your next, quick and easy weekday lunch.
Best donair place around. Those donairs are HUGE! So much stuff packed in them, I'm stuffed after I eat it. I usually just get my normal greek wrap. Still pretty darn good! 👌 good price aswell!
Post hangover.

Oooooo man... They make their own spice concoctions here. You can see the seeds and seasoning. It's a very delicious lunch on the go when your crunch for time, especially downtown. Fresh veggies and meat, how can you say no. Perfect for a stroll downtown with my dog.
We walk past this place all the time, and it's impossible to ignore with its bright green exterior and tacky lighting. Who would've thought such a weird storefront would be housing such cheap and fulfilling food? The portions are absolutely huge at Donair Dude, and priced very very reasonably. The pita donair was a big pocket of juicy, flavourful meat and crunchy vegetables. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something cheap and good for both your stomach and your taste buds!
I’ve had this blog in my drafts section for months now but never really bothered to write anything. The reason being, every time I’ve been there it’s been after several (dozen) drinks, meaning my judgement is impaired and I think it’s the most amazing thing ever, plus I forget to take mental notes. Not to mention my photos tend to be about as blurry as my vision when inebriated, so it’s never quite worked out. Today was a bit of an exception. Normally I take my lunch hour around noon, but today was a busy day so I ended up working all the way through until around 3PM and forgot to eat. I had some Christmas shopping to do downtown but figured I’d walk along Granville to find something to eat first. As I walked by Donair Dude, I remembered I’ve had this blog sitting in my drafts for quite some time now and figured since I had my camera in my bag I’d do it properly this time.
How does a tiny outlet with kitsch rainbow LED lighting warrant full marks? How does a restaurant utterly devoid of atmosphere whatsoever get such high ratings? Because it is unapologetically, unashamedly great at making supremely cheap, tasty food and serving up huge portions. The falafel pita is big enough for two to share, and packed with fresh, tasty ingredients. Everything looks good, and everything is reasonably priced. Can you afford not to check it out?
