Malaysian flare done right.
The roti canai was steaming hot & crispy. Cooked well & just the right amount of chewiness. The curry for dipping was spicy & salty. Dipped with the roti, it was sweet & salty.
The Penang fried kueh teow had that wok fire flavour. Not too greasy which was a bonus.
My recommendation- the roti canai!
Perak Malaysian Cafe is on South Granville St by the Safeway location on 70th Ave. This is our first time visiting here. We got here just a few minutes after 11am on Sunday, but it was not yet opened. We did see people inside setting up though so we went for a stroll around the block before coming back.
This place is decent for the common Malaysia dishes. We ordered curry laksa, roti canai, mee goreng, and hong kong style kueh teow. The curry laksa was quite good, especially the soup. The roti canai was a little oily and soggy. The mee goreng was reasonable, though not spicy at all. The kueh teow was a little better. Should have tried the bah kut teh. Oh yes, the noodles came with choice of a beverage, so we tried teh and ovaltine.
