Very good service, and easy finding location.Eat buns when it warm, otherwise it turns hard. I have tried four kinds of buns, like motcha the best, I like then bcz they are not too sweety.
The Coffee Bun is a little shop located near the entrance to the Seabus terminal at Lonsdale Quay. For whatever reason, every time I’ve visited in the past, they’re closed due to extenuating circumstances or are flat out sold out of food for the day. Thankfully, they actually still had a pretty decent selection to choose from today! Lured in by the scent of fresh baked goods, I decided to give their goodies a go!
I love love LOVE their coffee buns! I have stopped by many times and they are consistently good! Going in the morning when its baked fresh is the best time. They are soft with the perfect amount of crispiness and don't overdo it on the butter. So far, I've tried the Original, Earl Grey (my favourite), Hazelnut, Chocolate and Coconut... and I loved them all. Worth a trek out to North Van. In my opinion: Coffee Bun > Papparoti.
I love stopping by the coffee bun everytime I'm at lonsdale quay, as it is pretty easy to find and never gets old (who doesn't love carbs?). Ive tried a few flavours and for the most part all have been delicious, theres something special about the soft fluffy inside and slightly crumbly coffee cake like exterior. Definitely a must try, however it does get busy and they are often sold out of a lot of flavours when I'm there so maybe try going earlier when it just opens.
Fantastic pastries, haven't found something similar since traveling in Asia. So many delicious flavors we enjoyed the earl grey, the original and an almond one. All were so good !!!!! The staff was extremely friendly.
Good buns especially when they're fresh. Try the custard filled coffee buns. They're delicious. Also, friendly staff which is always a plus. Instead of getting a muffin from starbucks, get a coffee bun. And thank me later. You're welcome.
When we arrived, there were only a few flavours of coffee buns left as they’re baked fresh in small batches. The cashier told us that a new batch of their Earl grey flavour will be ready in about 8 minutes, so KitKat and I decided to go for a walk. We came back in about 10 minutes, but they had already sold out in the span of 2 minutes! Sadly, I didn’t get to try their Earl grey. Out of the remaining few options available, I was undecided between the original, cream cheese and the vanilla bean custard. The cashier said that the vanilla bean custard was among her favourites, and is one of their more popular coffee buns, so I took her word for it. KitKat opted for the hazelnut coffee bun ($3.50), which was filled with Nutella.
My vanilla bean custard coffee bun ($4) was airy, and pillowy soft, almost marshmallowy in texture. The warm innards of the bun had a very aromatic sweet and savoury butteriness to it. The coffee crumble baked on top was crisp and had a hint of coffee flavour. The vanilla bean custard was just lightly sweetened. It didn’t have a very prominent vanilla taste, but it had the eggy flavour of custard and it was so smooth and creamy.
The coffee bun was mouthwateringly good. I definitely prefer The Coffee Bun over Papa Roti. North Vancouver is a very long trek for me, but while I was searching The Coffee Bun up on Zomato to get the code to link my blog, I discovered that they have another location in Henderson Place, Coquitlam. I’m so glad I don’t have to travel all the way to North Van for these babies.
After hiking at Quarry Rock in Deep Cove, we stopped by the Coffee Bun cafe at Lonsdale Quay on our way back to Vancouver. It’s near the bus loop and next to Starbucks. The cafe is small but feels homely. The coffee buns are baked fresh everyday with fresh dough. Lots of flavours to choose from!
A delicious alternative to the usual cafes in the area. However, $4 is a little steep for working people to spend everyday. But once in a while is quite a treat. I tried the nutella one as well.....delicious!
Such a hidden gem in North Vancouver. The buns were buttery, soft, airy and tasty! I definitely prefer their coffee buns over Papparotis. They are a bit smaller for a hefty price of 3-4 dollars, however, it is money well spent!
