There is a restaurant along the sea wall, right below the Granville Bridge that might just be the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. Chang ‘An Restaurant features Northern Chinese cuisine which is often perceived as large portioned of carbs. Although Chang ‘An Restaurant is considered fine dining by its price, the large portion food will have you walk away with a full stomach.
The dishes are excellent and really worth the price. Very excellent service team and nice view. I would like to recommend the cold noodles, chang'an duck and sea cucumber.
best asian restaurant in Vancouver.
It's from it's complimentary pita to Beijing duck and sour spicy soup, pork sliders and cold noodles, also the spicy abalone,So many dishes worth trying… one of my favourite place to go……
Last month, I was fortunate enough to give Chang'an a try, courtesy of the ChineseBites group. The meal was complimentary but all opinions are my own. The restaurant has taken over the scenic location of the old Stone Grill, with a great waterfront view. We started off with some Pita Bread, and it reminded me of an homage to traditional Western restaurants, where they start each meal with bread. It's definitely the first time I've been served bread as a starter in the Chinese restaurant. The Guo Kui Pita 鍋盔 itself was kind of plain but the bean spread, with just a punch of heat, made it much better. And I do like the spun sugar garnish!
They serve a house baked pita bread topped with sesame and served with a chili paste dip to every table in the restaurant. I like the chili dip for the bread, however, I thought it was a bit strange to be eating pita bread at a Chinese restaurant. Normally when I think of Chinese pastries and baking I imagine light, chewy, or flakey things, but this was pretty dense and a bit too dry for my liking
As you can see, it was a long yet satisfying dinner for us. Many dishes were done quite well, but they are also priced at a relatively higher price point. It’s not your everyday Chinese restaurant, but for special occasions, I think this is worthwhile for a visit.
In Vancouver, it is well-known that there are many Chinese restaurants. But, where does one go for an authentic Chinese fine dining experience? Located right on the waterfront of False Creek North, Chang’an offers customers Northern Chinese style cuisine from the Shaanxi province. Chang’an has also received accolades locally as they were awarded “Best Fine Dining” by diners in 2015 for the Chinese Restaurant Awards.
Chang An Vancouver 品味長安 is Chinese fine dining restaurant in Vancouver’s waterfront. It is one of the first of several high end Chinese restaurant to open in Vancouver. Chang An is brought to you by the China Folk Restaurant from Beijing renowned brand dedicated in offering classic Shaanxi Cuisine. Located on False Creek under the Granville Street Bridge next to Ancora, it replaces the space formerly occupied by Stone Grill and Nu.
A bit on the pricey side but the food was delicious for the most part. The beijing duck was great: the skin was crispy and there was a separate plate of duck meat for the wraps. The spic lamb with sesame pockets was also delicious. The noodles were very tasty and obviously hand-made. Lots of slurping around the table, but totally with it haha. The one weird dish was soup that tasted like minestrone - it was good but didn't seem Chinese to me...
Hidden Gem! Great Chinese Food with friendly staff!. Third time in last 2 months with my friends and family. Make sure call to reserve their authentic "Roast Duck" ahead. Unforgettable crispy duck skin serve with crystal sugar. Friendly staffs with great smile. Come up with different drinks creation. Lovely the "Pepper corn shaved beef" with their special fresh peppercorn fragrance. Spicy Clay Pot always good for sharing for friends if you like hot and spicy.
Looking forward for their Lunch and patio in June.
