Came here for the Korean fried chicken. Just had the half order of the original. It came with salt to dip in and pickled radishes. I thought the chicken had a nice crispy skin. But I'd rather have it with sauce already on it or some kind of seasoning instead of dipping it in the salt. It was still good though. Also tried the pan fried chicken with spice sauce with rice cakes and cheese on top. I've always wanted to try a dish like this. It kind of reminded me of pizza. The spicy sauce had a smoky flavour to it, but it wasn't too spicy. It was kind of small though and not too many rice cakes. We also order a yogurt soju. The waitress mentioned that it came in a big bottle ; but we thought it'd be ok. When it came, it was actually larger than I thought and I should have listened to the waitress. For 18.99, I think it was definitely worth it. Also something worth mentioning is that there were no side dishes (banchan). I don't know if you have to order certain foods for it toe come with it. But banchan is my favourite part and it was kind of disappointing not to have any.

Overall, the service was good and food was OK. Might come back to try their other chicken they have.

Jess and I were on the West End in downtown and decided to wander around looking for a place to have dinner, when we happened upon Blue Bella. They are located on a corner of an intersection on Robson beside a bunch of other Korean restaurants, but we decided to pick this one over the rest as it looked more appealing to us from the outside than the other ones!

Entrance

Upon my entrance into this Korean restaurant/bar, I was quickly greeted by one of the two servers. They seated me and my partner on a table for two but we asked for a table for four because the restaurant was half empty(we arrived very early for dinner). They happily accommodated our preference and sat us down. They lit a candle for us and brought us water and menu immediately. So far, this was a great start to our visit at the Blue Bella Pocha Korean Bar.

Food

To start off with drinks, we ordered the Yogurt Soju Cocktail which was in fact made with Yakult. It was sweet and just like all the other Yogurt Sojus we've tried in other Korean restaurants.

For the main course, we ordered the Panfried Beef Intestines with Vegetables and the Original Deep Fried Whole Chicken with Spring Onions and Special Sauce. Thankfully, the server informed us that the beef intestine dish would be insanely spicy. She said that she could tell the chef to water it down a bit. I was surprised that she cared enough to tell us about the spiciness of the dish because from my experience, alot of servers don't give a crap about the customers. She also informed us that the restaurant had a bizarre deal where if you ordered one alcoholic beverage and ordered one main dish, they would give you a 5 piece appetizer for free! (Poosh MindF***) The appetizer consisted of a piece of grilled makerel, six pieces of spicy Korean rice cake(Dok Bok Ki), a handful of edamame beans, some Korean Crackers, and finally a warm fish cake broth. These appetizers were alright. I would never pay to eat them but heck! they were for free :)

The main dishes on the other hand were huge in proportions(but they weren't super cheap) and tasted great. The chicken was actually one of the best Korean friend chicken I've ever had on Robson Street. The infusion of the friend chicken with the spring onions bathed in a special sauce was like experiencing an orgasm for the first time. This dish would be highly recommended for anyone's visit.

The second main dish was the spicy pan fried beef intestines with vegetables. It was not spicy because the server asked the chef to make it a little bit easier on the tastebuds. It was my first time trying beef intestines. I expected to be a little grossed out by it. However, contrary to my expectation, intestines were pretty damn good. It wasn't like meat. It was kinda chewy but in a good way. Someone very hard to describe by words. I may infact become a intestine fanatic. So, all in all the food was great but I could still see some improvements being made hence, not giving them a 10 point.

Overall

I would definitely recommend others to visit Blue Bella Pocha. It has great food and great servers who will make your visit fabulous. Also, I've recently found out that Pocha is one of the main places Korean people gather to drink alcohol. Considering that, they have great food that will go perfectly with Korea's national drink soju and the internationally loved beer. I will probably be going back sometime soon so maybe I will post some other pictures on the other dishes I will try.
