The employees were very helpful and often gave us free samples. The sashimi was particularly fresh but the nigiris we even better. We ordered a lot of things from the hot and cold menu but what really stood out was the spot prawn nigiri when its in season, the foie gras nigiri (melts in your mouth), seared salmon truffle nigiri and the sea urchin nigiri!
Kitchen by Yugo is a French Japanese fusion restaurant located in the West End of Downtown Vancouver. They have a secondary location on Main called Yugo Restaurant, and while the two restaurants share some similar items, there are dishes that are exclusive to each branch so make sure you go to the right location!

Seeing all the Instagram pictures recently, I decided to take S to Kitchen by Yugo for her birthday. The restaurant features Japanese French fusion and is located on Denman Street near Robson. When we arrived on a Sunday night, the restaurant was completely empty but with tons of staff and cooks. We found it a little odd, but the restaurant slowly filled up. Still, there were quite a lot of employees compared to the size of the restaurant which we found quite odd. At least our service was super attentive because of this! The interior is dimly lit and is quite nice for date night or a girls’ night out.
Kitchen by Yugo is a French Japanese fusion restaurant that opened up about 6 weeks ago on Denman Street. It used to be called Chengdu Szechuan Bistro (see my post here) and while it’s great to see new businesses pop up, it is sad to know that the other businesses I visited in the past and enjoyed before could not sustain themselves in this tough industry.
