Decent take out Dim Sum, they only have 1 table to "dine in" so don't expect to eat there. Basic selection and friendly service which quick and easy.
definitely one of the store, yes that's correct a store that sells take out dimsum items, it's not complete dim sum like they serve like in restaurant, and taste wise it's similar but i find it different, and portion wise definitely not dimsum size it's something wholly big and different, and you get more bang for your buck. taste wise although it's similar to dimsum but it's more unrefined i must say, definitely not bad, but it's definitely not the best dim sum for sure, but definitely if you have dimsum craving, this place does the fix for me. and price wise oh man you can't get any better than this for dimsum.
Not a Restaurant.... I agree with this. Dimsum quality is still good. Grab it and eat it at home. There is no longer anywhere to sit and no fresh dimsum steaming displayed, which for me was a let down.
Yummy Dimsum!. I see many of ppl like this place and i have to wonder really is it worth the wait? Yes it is! The food that came out always fresh and fast. For the food it is always a pleasure to eat here and cheap. Service is wonderful and very friendly eventhough it is dimsum but they always refill your hot sauce and tea promptly which I really like!
Great Dim Sum. Tasty Dim Sum, lunch for 2 is under $10. Plan on eating on styrofoam and plastic forks. They have a small seating area, if you are looking for a good Dim Sum selection, this is a good stop. They close at 5 pm
Dim sum yum yum. This place is not at all like how it is represented online. It seems to be primarily a place to buy frozen dim sum, though they do serve fresh. The selection is nothing like what is listed online, though still decent. The shrimp dumplings were pretty good, as were the shrimp sticky rice dumplings. The pork balls were delicious, but the pork and veggie dumplings tasted mildly fishy. The bbq pork steamed bun, while tasty, had way too much bun. The mango pudding, although tasty, had the texture of rubber. Also, be prepared to feel out of place if you are not Chinese, and we were cut in line multiple times by the neighborhood's more authentic residents. Overall, however, pretty good dim sum for a very good price.
Note: they do not take credit cards as stated online.
Dimsum till 5. **edit:
Dim Sum restaurant is no longer. The family has moved their frozen dimsum business into the space.
However, their instant steamer foods (chicken and mushroom rice, har gow, siu mai and chicken feet) are still available as are a few hot things like soup and congee.
RIP Kam Wai restaurant.

hole in the wall. solid steamed dimsum items. no cart service.
Tea is medicinal tasting but grows on you.
I'm nostalgic for the plastic tablecovers (as in they clear your bowls, remove the sheet and voila! another plastic sheet for the next set of diners).
the male server is very sweet and is willing to check with the kitchen about things like cornstarch and flour.
har gow an siu mai are delish. shrimp rice rolls are thick on the riceroll so the texture was off but generous with the shrimp. steamed spongecake is worth it. They have some good looking noodle dishes too.
Quickly becoming a regular haunt for this budget-conscious girl.
Jenkins and I were doing some grocery shopping in Chinatown one day when we decided to stick around for some lunch as well. We wandered past Kam Wai Dim Sum on Pender Street when I remembered Sherman doing a review about it fairly recently. I’m always gam
