I’ve been to Fraser Court many times for dim sum over the years, but didn’t realize that I never actually wrote about it! Dim sum is something I love, but don’t get to enjoy as much now due to my digestive problems. Shrimp rice flour roll: Clearly I love my shrimp. Again, the shrimp had a nice bounce to it and tasted fresh. Some places add a couple pieces of Chinese vegetables, but this place didn’t.
For the food alone, it deserves a higher rating, but unfortunately our visit suffered from poor service, not to mention the unkempt and slightly filthy premise (even for a Chinese restaurant). That being said, we enjoyed our dim sum lunch immensely. We ordered shrimp dumplings, radish cakes, mushroom dumplings, pan fried chive + shrimp cake, rice rolls, egg tofu + shrimp paste, and bean curd roll stuffed with meat. Everything was nicely flavored, prepared, and presented... none too greasy, fried, cheap, or bland. The highlights were the bean curd rolls, which came with finely chopped fungus (wood ear), and the mushroom dumplings (stuffed with water chestnuts and cilantro). We will return, and prepare ourselves for the poor service.
Huge restaurant that never has a line up (except for mothers day or Xmas or holidays) tons of parking (I think they have 3 parking lots + street parking) and the food comes really fast. The service isn't the friendliest but its normal Chinese dim sum restaurant (unless you're dining at kirin) def one of my fav go to dim sum places!
I didn’t really care for this soup because it tasted a bit bland to me and the meat in it was a bit tough. Chef’s Secret Recipe Jumbo Crab. I really enjoyed the secret sauce used for the crab which had hints of garlic, chili, green onions. The crab was messy to eat, but tasted fresh and good. Lobster in Supreme Soy Sauce
Fraser Court Seafood is a large (I’m talking about 500 seating capacity) Chinese restaurant located on the 2nd floor of a building on Fraser Street. Despite the size, the place seems to be quite busy with dim sum lineups being a frequent occurrence. If you have a large dinner party, you’re in luck because they have some really massive tables and the seating isn’t overly cramped like some restaurants.
Every Day Is A Food Day

NOTE: As part of the ChineseBites media event, all food and beverages were free, but all opinions are based on my own experience. I was fortunate enough to be invited by ChineseBites to test 11 dishes at Fraser Court Seafood Restaurant along with a few other food bloggers. Fraser Court is pretty popular and I always hear my parents talking about their dinners here with their friends, but I, myself, had not been. It’s located on Fraser St. so not particularly an area that I would make my way out to with my friends. More like a place for family dinners. There is tons of parking in the back, which is always a plus in Vancouver. Oh, and they have a ballroom type of room that is separated out where people turn on the disco ball and start dancing and singing… Yes, live Chinese karaoke goes on during dinner time…
Fraser Court Seafood Restaurant opened up in 2009 and serves up dim sum, dinner and can cater to large events like weddings. They can hold up to 500 people. We came here for a ChineseBites dinner with other bloggers during the weekday. The atmosphere was definitely interesting as they partitioned a section of the restaurant for karaoke and dancing. We weren’t sure if this was a normal night here or just a special event.

Came here for a group meal and had 11 dishes here. Most of the dishes were pretty good, but dining on a weekday night can get pretty weird here as there was karaoke and dancing. Perhaps it was a special occasion.
The highlights of the night were Whole Winter Melon with Seafood, Roasted House Specialty Chicken and Baked Tapioca Puddin.g
Why I love this place: We usually go to Dai Tung, but sometimes we cave and go to Fraser Court because they have the deep fried donut rice roll. They have really good dinner selections here.
Would I come back: Yes
Would I recommend it to others: Yes
Nice evening for our event!. I was in Vancouver from May 14 to May 18, 2015 to attend the Mah Society Convention. I took my girlfriend's little 7 year-old son along with me. The "welcome dinner" took place at Fraser Court Seafood Restaurant on Friday evening, May 15, 2015. I had a very nice evening, though my girlfriend's little boy fidgeted throughout the dinner and constantly played with his chopsticks---banging on the teacups! The boy also kept kicking me really hard in the shins under the table (!), which made it rather difficult to concentrate on my eating. (Actually, I ended up with two bruised shins that night! Agh!) Despite this, the food was superb and the service was great, considering the large number of people in attendance. The spicy fried shrimp was delicious, as well as the roasted duck with taro. I wouldn't hesitate to go to this restaurant again the next time I'm in Vancouver. That's me in my avatar picture---at Fraser Court Seafood Restaurant in Vancouver---on the evening of May 15, 2015, Friday---just before dinner, and right before my girlfriend's little boy started kicking me in the shins!
Good dim sum place , gives you the traditional Chinese feels!
Dim Sum!. Well surprisingly enough this was my first time having Dim Sum, a lot of the stuff was good; the Rice Flour wrapped shrimp with some sort of dipping sauce, the BBQ pork filled pastry dumpling thing, and the star of the show and the most delicious dumpling I have ever had was the pork and shrimp stuffed dumpling, ohhhhhh soooo good.
It's between like and don't like. It's ok for me. If my friend asked me to suggest a Chinese restaurant, this restaurant will never come up in my mind. And, my friend asked me to go, I will not ignore it...
We were quite impressed that there were large pieces of fish maw and crab in it and the soup wasn’t too thick either (aka too much cornstarch?).... Prices were reasonable for the portions we got. Apparently they have karaoke and dancing on Monday and Wednesday nights as well.
Here you will find a wide selection of the dim sum staples such as freshly steamed har gow (shrimp dumplings, pictured below), sticky rice wraps, and warm congee soup with classic add-ins
