When in Van I must always come here for my Pho favourite. I will always order the rare beef pho and a side of yellow Chicken. Their Chicken seems to always be consistently moist, they must either steam it or have a special technique to keep all the juicyness of the Chicken inside, but I just luv to devour those chunks of chicken dipped in the salt n pepper lemon, combined with the ginger infused northern style beef broth n pho. Ahhh now my craving has been fulfilled until next time...
Really good pho and bun options here. The soup was very balanced in flavour with the addition of ginger (which I never see at other pho restaurants). The portions are fairly large but because the food is so tasty, finishing your bowl should be no problem. I saw a lot of people ordering a plate of free-ranged chicken and I'll have to go back another time for it.
I forgot to take a photo of my pho, but here's a photo of their spring roll + nem nuong on vermicelli.
After going past the restaurant numerous times, we decided to try the food here. First time, I ordered the bun mang ga which is chicken noodle soup with bamboo. My husband ordered the bun bo hue. I like the chicken soup base but didn't like the bamboo. The bamboo tasted sour, seems like they use pickle bamboo or marinated bamboo instead of fresh bamboo so it tasted weird. I wouldn't order this noodle soup again since I didn't like the sour taste of bamboo. My husband loved the bun bo hue taste. He thought it tastes as good as the one in Song Huong. Few days later we ate there again. This time I ordered bun bo hue and my husband ordered pho ga (chicken pho). Their bun bo hue is little spicier than other restaurants but it tasted good though. My husband really likes pho ga, he said the soup has lots of flavour. Overall We both like the food here, the price is cheap and the portion is quite generous. Definitely it is one of the restaurants we will dine regular in our neighbourhood.
This is absolutely the best Vietnamese pho in Vancouver. This pho soup has great depths of flavours and the accompanied meat is more "unique" than normal selection. Pho #1 is not a novice pho.
after a few days of food journeying in kensington area, i decided to stop by lam hoa quan, and true enough, the pho is definitely better than a lot of pho places that are in vancouver, but again it's very hard for me to tell whether it's the best or not, because most of the pho that is good is sort of similar, where the broth is aromatic, light, but at the same time have it layered. and at the same time the beef and meat is decent. and the rice noodle doesn't bring/dilute the broth taste.
overall this is a decent place, will upload the pictures when it's found.
Steaming bowls of pho are everywhere in Vancouver if you're looking, we certainly don't have a shortage of Vietnamese cuisine locally. However, maybe it's because it's my own culture and I have a far better understanding of a real homemade bowl of pho consists of.. it's really hard for me to eat pho outside of home. If you have any Vietnamese friends, they would tell you the same thing.
The lady who served us was very kind and pretty! I especially enjoyed #8 on their menu which is beef and chicken Pho that comes with a salt and pepper lemony sauce that you're supposed to dip the chicken in. It makes this place unique from other Pho joints! Will definitely return
Tasty broth builds the foundation for enjoyable pho, with the uniquely presented rare beef adding to the appeal . Don’t forget to share some spring rolls.
I was told by the server that the style was from North Vietnam whereas most Pho in the city is from South Vietnam.
Everything was fresh, very tasty and well seasoned. I really enjoyed this meal, and wish I would have taken pictures for you guys! We’ll definitely be back!
