Really enjoyed lunch here today. The server was warm and friendly. She was attentive and overall really pleasant. The atmosphere was clean and tidy. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes; I ended up getting a bean, ginger and pork in a spicy sauce and added the combo with came with rice, salad and a spring roll for a small extra charge. The prices were fair and I felt the quaintly and authenticity was great. I would recommend it and look forward to being back. I dined for lunch with my son around 1145/12pm - the lunch crowd followed shortly after. Great spot.
Great Food; Great People. Friends, my husband and I decided to spend a day in Vancouver and end it with a visit to Commerical Drive. We ate at the Bua Thai Cusine and boy did we make a good choice with this new restaurant. We each selected different dishes and were blown away with the food. So good, fresh, and prepared with each person's preferred taste (mild, moderate, spicy). Each dish was delicious and we enjoyed the friendly service and wonderful, relaxed atmosphere of this new Commerical Drive eatery. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Like homemade!. I really like the food! I tried the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the pad thai with pork. The chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful! Exactly the way I like it and the rice was very tasty! Pad thai was a wonderful dish too! It taste like homemade food, straight from the kitchen from mom. The chef came out to say hello to our table which I found very nice. I would totally come back and bring more friends to this restaurant!!!
I just had the dinner take out. Yummy as usual. Very friendly service.
So fresh, so good!. We had heard about Ya Yah Thai and finally made it across from the North Shore last night (easy drive, only 15 minutes!). We had a variety of appetizers - chicken satay (large portions of meat, great sauce), the papaya salad (very tasty and refreshing), fried tofu (the housemade tamarind sauce was delicious), and the best veggie spring rolls I've had in ages. We followed it with the Tom Yum chicken hot and sour soup - a HUGE bowl for $10 - that was nice and light, very delicious. Our favourites - the soup, papaya salad and spring rolls. Oh yes, and the price - it's so affordable that we can come back soon!
Not high quality Thai, but pretty authentic.
Delicious! Had the yellow curry (yummmm!) and the cauliflower and pumpkin red curry. So goooood!
Good food. Inexpensive lunch options. Simple Thai done right.
Ya Yah's for take-out. I went to Ya Yah's for the first time last night in between periods of the Canucks vs. Chicago game looking for some take-out. When I walked into the restaurant the entire staff was seated for their evening meal and we're sharing food with another customer. I was also offered a bite of their not on the menu dishes. And the thing I couldn't believe was that there was a flat screen right over their table showing the hockey game.
I ordered the spring rolls - not crispy enough for my taste, but my children liked them the best of all dishes.
pad thai with prawns - very generous serving and tasty. the prawns were cooked perfectly
The sweet and sour chicken was chock full of FRESH vegies
The thai basil, vegie and tofu dish was the most flavourful.
I'm not a thai officianada on the Vancouver scene but for a friendly, authentic experience I'd recommended this restaurant for the people experience alone. The food is good and I imagine would be even better eating in and with a bit of spice since I ordered all dish to be mild for my children.
Pineapple fried rice Paradise!. This is one of my favourite restaurants on the Drive. Ya Yah is a hoot, she'll invite you to her place on Vancouver Island at least once a visit and the Saturday night staff are all super-friendly. Not only will you get a warm fuzzy feeling from the service but the food is amazing. The pineapple fried rice is super-unique and super-tasty and the mussam beef curry is another must-order
